Schools Official Assails 'Gay Lifestyle'
The Washington Post ^ | 02/03/2005 | Maria Glod

A Fairfax County School Board member has sent letters to the district's 24 high school principals urging them to ensure that students hear the views of people who believe that homosexuality is a choice and a "very destructive lifestyle."

In a Jan. 30 letter, Stephen M. Hunt (At Large) asked the principals to host speakers with an "ex-gay perspective" and offer students, teachers and counselors literature provided by the conservative group Concerned Women for America and other organizations.

"Children are being taught that homosexuality is normal and natural. It is neither," Hunt wrote. "To state that it is normal or natural is to promote the myth that accompanies the homosexual activist rhetoric."

...

But in the letter Hunt said students often are exposed to the "Will and Grace version of homosexuality." He contended in the letter that gays often suffer drug and alcohol abuse or physical abuse and that gay men don't live as long as heterosexual counterparts. "There are huge ramifications for people who may make a choice to go into that lifestyle, and we should make sure they are fully aware of the entire issue," Hunt said in an interview.

Steve Hunt is unusual in that he's a strongly conservative elected official in liberal Fairfax County. He will receive a lot of heat for taking a stand on this issue.

Please email him at stephen.hunt@fcps.edu to thank him for having the guts to tell the truth.

From the article: Kelly Schlageter, a founding member of Equality Fairfax, an advocacy group for gays and others, rebutted Hunt's contention that sexual orientation is a choice... As part of the Fairfax policy, teachers are to tell students that "the reason for same sex attraction is unknown," according to the lesson plan. "Although individuals choose their sexual behavior, people do not choose their sexual orientation," the document states.

That's a load of crap. Homosexuality is completely a choice.

"The fact that homosexual behavior exists in nature amoung other species should indicate something but I guess this board member doesn't want to acknowledge that."

The fact that in the bible God describes homosexuality as an abomination should indicate something, but I guess you don't want to acknowlege that.

So anything that occurs in other species is OK? Cannabalism? Incest? Rape? Mutilation? Etc.?

"The fact that homosexual behavior exists in nature amoung other species should indicate something ..."

The fact that something "exists in nature" does not create a social obligation to sanction it. Nor does the fact that homosexuality "exists in nature" imply that it is never a chosen behavior.

And if choice is a significant factor in homosexual behavior, and if homosexuals have a higher rate of alcohol or physical abuse than heterosexuals, then it would make some sense to examine this relationship.

I applaud the board member.

Oh get outa here! Exists in other species? Homosexuality is completely and 100% a choice! The pro-gay agenda lobby wants us to believe that genetics are at fault. Thats completely untrue and unproven. The Bible in Rom chp 1 describes homosexuality and lesbianism as being vile and unnatural.

I think the only time other species opt for homosexual acts is when no opposite sex is available to them. In otherwords, they don't have a 'choice', but they have the drives.

I am not so sure it is a choice. I think there is some 'sexual identity' conditioning in early childhood that does influence and screw up the psyche. There is always the choice to abstain...but I am sure that is out of the question!!

A Black Widow Spider kills its mate immediately after intecourse. This is a fact of nature. Are we to glean inspiration from this as well?

You know, I am not so old but 'in my day' teachers didn't take a stand on any lifestyle. There were a few kids that came from divorced families. We whispered that to one another but nobody advocated that they were better off than we...and nobody talked them down by pointing out how much pain their families were in.

There are things that should be taught in school. Perhaps there are things that are best learned outside the classroom, on the street or through real life experience. Might not the best solution be just to teach respect by showing respect and let kids learn some of this adult stuff by experience, as they grow?

I agree. It seems that schools want to get involved in all aspects of a student's life. Get back to the 3 R's and ditch the sociological nonsense.

Incest occurs in nature, right?

Guess you want that taught in the schools as well, eh?

Disease and death exist in nature too. So does cannibalism, infantcide, rot and decay.

Be fair, crazy. Speak up with your advocacy for cannibalism!

Send a letter to all the papers! Make up a protest sign and march in front of the White House:

George Bush Tastes Like Chicken!
Support Cannibal Rights!
