Assemblyman Jeff Stone (R-Greenfield) has been pestering the Milwaukee Election Commission to report how many people registered at the polls on November 2. Initially, they reported to him on Wednesday that about 8,000 people registered at the polls that day, out of about 255,000 votes cast, about 380,000 voters registered as of the September election (and an estimated 20,000-30,000 registrants between that point and the cutoff point for preregistration), and 565,000 residents (including about 430,000 adults) in the city. Now, they report a few VERY disturbing things:

I think a convicted felon is still barred from federal elections, unless he's pardoned. But I am not a lawyer. And if the state doesn't enforce the law, well, that's the real problem in the first place.
I completely agree with you. Right now, your idea would garner support of about 85% of americans. The republicans are behind the curve (again) in that they are concerned that they will be villified by MSM for such a suggestion ("racist!"). What they fail to realize is that a-- they are called names by MSM & the shrill left anyhow, and b-- the MSM is dying.
The republicans need to strap some on, big time.
Probably because it requires some semblence of responsibilty to show up on the correct day, at the correct time and to correctly vote. Kind of goes into the whole "being a responsible citizen" thing.

Fraud Not An Issue
There have been allegations in the press of voter fraud and calls for new
restrictions on voting such as requiring voters to present photo IDs. The
hundreds of Election Protection observers at more than 90 locations did not
observe voter fraud. Rather, observations indicate that the greatest threat to
voting was the impediments -- lines, accessibility, registration difficulties,
confusing instructions -- that confronted eligible voters.
Based upon our observations, ELECTION PROTECTION does not believe
additional restrictions on voting such as requiring registered voters to present
photo ID’s are warranted. Current penalties for voter fraud, including felony
prosecution and the potential of a prison sentence are a sufficient deterrent to
voter fraud. Instead of expending effort and financial resources to make
voting more difficult and time consuming, careful consideration should be
given instead to strengthening and improving existing procedures.

They only want reform in Ohio and Florida.
Everyone needs to began NOW, writing or calling their senators and congressmen/women and tell them to immediately vote for a national registry so when ANYONE tries to register, they can immediately check the registry and see if they're registered anywhere else. Even with that, they need to STOP same day registration. They need to make a lot of changes, but at least the national registry will catch most of double voting.
If we don't do something, we're going to become a communist third world country. That's what the liberals are working toward. They're getting desperate and since they can't win with their agendas and are unwilling to change, they're trying to force their will on us via fraud voting.
Minnesota (right next door) has same day registration also. Remember President Bush was leading or very close in the polls right up to election day and then Kerry won. I believe with every fiber in my body that people from Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin were crossing the state lines and voting in at least 2 states. The Dems had people dressed a certain way and emails or letters went out telling voters to cross over the lines and to look for those people dressed that way and these people were supposed to verify that they knew them and that was vertication enough for them to register and vote. The dems are nothing but crooks and if we don't do something about this and in a hurry, we will never win again. Did you notice that Kerry won all those states and almost won Iowa and the reason he didn't win that one is because they don't have same day registration.
I kept up with the polls on a daily basis and I just knew President Bush was going to win Minnesota and Wisconsin. I think it's very strange that those are the two states that have same day registration. With President Bush being ahead in the polls most of the time in those states, I cannot believe he lost them with honest voters.
A national registry would solve most of these problems. No state should allow same day registration and voting. It will only get worse since dems are so desperate to win. Every time a person registers anywhere in the US, they could check the national registry to see if they were registered in some other state and not allow them to vote, if they were. My state, Illinois and Iowa are three states I know of that is considering changing to same day registering. It needs to stop everywhere, rather than increase. Six states now have it.
We need to fix this problem anyway we can.
If we can do it state by state, fine.
If the quickest way to do it is by passing a federal law, we should.
Why oh why am I not surprised!
How about changing the rules so that (1) the voucher has to sign an affidavit affirming personal knowledge of the vouchee's residence before the vouchee, (2) for the voucher to file a false affidavit would be a major criminal offense, and (3) if the voucher files a false statement but the vouchee does not, not only would the vouchee's conduct would be deemed perfectly legal, but he'd be eligible to receive a modest bounty payment as well; (4) entrapment would only be a defence for the voucher if he could show that he was not predisposed to vouch for people he didn't know.
Put those rules in place, and I suspect the 'voucher' system would work pretty well. People who actually know their neighbors would still have no trouble vouching for them, but 'vouchers for hire' would be loath to practice their trade.

How Democrats Steal Elections - Top 10 Methods of Liberal Vote Fraud
1. Over-Voting. In Democrat strongholds like St. Louis, Philadelphia and Detroit, some precincts had 100% of their registered voters voting, with 99% of the ballots going to Gore. Clearly, multiple voting resulted in extra tallies for Gore in the 2000 election. (New York Post, 12/09/00).
2. Dead Voters. This classic Democratic method of vote fraud goes all the way back to 1960 in Chicago and Dallas. The 2000 election was no exception. In Miami-Dade County, for example, some of the 144 ineligible votes (those which officials actually admitted to) were cast by dead people, including a Haitian-American who's been deceased since 1977 (Miami-Herald, 12/24/00).
3. Mystery Voters. These "voters" cast votes anyway but are not even registered to vote. In heavily Democratic Broward County, for example, more than 400 ballots were cast by non-registered voters. (Miami-Herald 1/09/01)
4. Military ballots. Many of these votes were disqualified for the most mundane and trivial reasons. At least 1,527 valid military ballots were discarded in Florida by Democratic vote counters (Drudge Report, 11/19/00).
5. Criminals. Felons are a natural Democratic voter and they're protected on voter rolls across the country. In Florida at least 445 ex-convicts - including rapists and murderers -- voted illegally on November 7th. Nearly all of them were registered Democrats. (Miami-Herald 12/01/00)
6. Illegal aliens. These voters have long been a core liberal constituency, especially in California. In Orange County in 1996, Rep. Bob Dornan had his congressional seat stolen from him when thousands of illegal aliens voted for Loretta Sanchez (Christian Science Monitor, 9/2/97).
7. Vote-buying. Purchasing votes has long been a traditional scheme by Democrats, and not just with money. In the 2000 election in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Democratic workers initiate a "smokes-for-votes" campaign in which they paid dozens of homeless men with cigarettes if they cast ballots for Al Gore (Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, 11/14/00).
8. Phantom Voters. These voters don't really exist, but their ballots do. In the 1996 Lousiana Senate race, GOP candidate Woody Jenkins had the election stolen from him when he discovered that 7,454 actual votes were cast but had no paper trail to authenticate them (Behind the Headlines, F.R. Duplantier, 4/27/97).
9. Dimpled chads. Those infamous punch-cards were a ballot bonanza for Al Gore. Democratic poll workers in Palm Beach, Dade and Broward counties tampered and manipulated thousands of ineligible ballots and counted them for Gore, even though no clear vote could be discerned. (NewsMax.com 11/27, 12/22, 11/18, 11/19/00).
10. Absentee ballots. Normally it's assumed that Republicans benefit from absentee ballots. But in the case of Miami's 1997 mayoral election, hundreds of absentee ballots were made for sale or sent out to non-Miami residents. Fraud was so extensive in the race that the final results were overturned in court (FL Dept. of Law Enforcement Report, 1/5/98)."
