SpongeBob, Barney promote 'gay tolerance (FedEx to Sponsor in Gov't Schools)
WorldNetDaily ^ | January 6, 2005

In a new video to be distributed to 61,000 schools across the nation, homosexual activists are using popular children's TV characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants and Barney the dinosaur to surreptitiously indoctrinate young children into their lifestyle, a pro-family activist group charges.

SpongeBob Squarepants is one of the popular children's TV characters appearing in a new 'tolerance' video.

Based on the 1970s hit song "We Are Family," the video will be distributed to public and private elementary schools nationwide March 11, along with lesson plans for teachers, points out the American Family Association.

The distribution, sponsored by FedEx, will coincide with the video's broadcast March 11 on Nickelodeon, PBS, and the Disney Channel in celebration of the proposed National We Are Family Day.

AFA researcher Ed Vitagliano sees the project as an "open door" to a secondary discussion of homosexuality, noting the the foundation has a "tolerance pledge" on its website that children and others are encouraged to sign, which includes sexual orientation. [Editor's note: This story previously linked to the website of a group that has the same name but no connection to the video. WND regrets the error.]

"While we want everyone to respect other people's beliefs, we do not consider it appropriate for children's television to be used in an effort to indoctrinate children to accept homosexuality," he said.

Vitagliano says the foundation is employing a bait-and-switch approach, with popular children's figures such as Arthur, Dora the Explorer, JoJo, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Big Bird and Bob the Builder.

The objective is to get children to the foundation's website "and there they're given the full pitch about homosexuality," he said.

Video producer Christopher Cerf called the video an "unprecedented event."

"For the first time characters from all of the important kids shows came together to appear in the same video," he said in a November news release. "The producers and performers from each show embraced the spirit and message of this project."

The We Are Family Foundation was founded by singer-songwriter Nile Rodgers, who wrote the hit song recorded in 1979 by Sister Sledge.

The video was financed by a grant from the Toni Mendez Shapiro estate.

"Cooperation and unity are the most important values we can teach children," Rodgers said. "We believe that this is the essential first step to loving thy neighbor."

The We Are Family Foundation says its partners in the production are the Anti-Defamation League, Crown Theatres, Disney Channel, FedEx, Nickelodeon, HIT Entertainment, Nile Rodgers/Sony Publishing/The Bernard Edwards Estate/Warner Chapel, Nelvana, PBS, Scholastic, Sesame Workshop, Toni Mendez Shapiro Estate, and WGBH-TV in Boston.

A Federal Express spokesman said the company is "proud" to provide shipping for the project.

"Promoting diversity is part of our corporate culture at FedEx," said William G. Margaritis, senior vice president, worldwide corporate communications.

Characters appearing in the video are from award-winning shows including "Arthur," "Barney," "Bear in the Big Blue House," "Between the Lions," "Blue's Clues, Bob the Builder," "The Book of Pooh," "Clifford the Big Red Dog," "Dora the Explorer," "Jimmy Neutron," "JoJo's Circus," "Kim Possible," "Lilo & Stitch: The Series," "Little Mermaid," "Madeline," "The Magic School Bus," "The Muppet Show," "The Proud Family," "Rugrats," "Sesame Street," "SpongeBob SquarePants," and "Zoom."

The video also features cameo appearances by entertainers Bill Cosby, Diana Ross and Whoopi Goldberg.

"Promoting diversity is part of our corporate culture at FedEx," said William G. Margaritis, senior vice president, worldwide corporate communications.

This sycophant is obviously out of his mind.

To put FedEx in the homosexual corner is corporate suicide.

Stating that the promotion of homosexuality is part of the corporate culture means, to anyone with a brain, that FedEx approves of shoving one's pee-pee up another's poo-poo and that ingestation of fecal matter is a wholesome pasttime.

I personally get so sick and tired of the gay/lesbian/transgendered/extremely confused gang and agenda hijacking icons such as these.

Whoever is at the top of the gay society is bound and determined to get the gays totally accepted. There will be no giving up on their part.

I am in agreement with you; Spongebob is watched daily here, and I haven't found a deceiving message YET.

I agree.

And there is one important point missing on this thread, Spongebob is not gay, Squidward is, and he's an assh*le!

If for no other reason than to prevent the loss of O/one's own child to the prison system because they've beaten or murdered(or with the current social trends, said something mean to...*gasp*) a "perverted fag"?

I don't know about your family but in my family we teach the children to protect the innocent and come down like a ton of bricks on bullies.

Nobody here advocates viloating anybodys rights as a human being, we just take umbrage at those who demand we "respect" that which we find abhorent.

And one other thing, there is zero evidence that homosexuality is a heritable trait. See twinning if you don't believe me. Ergo, something in the social environment has moved folk in the homosexual direction. What that is I have no idea.

I seem to remember Bert & Ernie taking baths together in their bath house. We all know what a "rubber ducky" is don't we kids?

Nothing is more offensive than to take a persons CHILD and teach them that perverted behaviors are fine and should be respected.

It just boggles my mind (see #101 above) to hear and see "captains" of industry lining up with the perverts.

No true Christian (or Jew) could ever "totally" accept homosexuals whose evil practices are as dangerous to America as the killer Muslims.

F**king government schools won't be happy until they produce a lowing herd of retarded, pliable cattle.

And "we" are funding it with our taxes. NY now ranks #1 for tax funded education. According to the State Assembly Speaker, Sheldon Silver, it's still not enough.

Like a giant sinkhole, the monies go in but nothing comes out. The kids, especially the boys, are drugged up with Ritalyn to keep them seated and quiet.

I was educated in the old catholic school system, where the nuns had to manage classes packed with 55 students. There was no departmentalization; we sat in that one room the entire day for a year. They used the Jesuit system of 'rote'. By the time we graduated from Elementary School, we knew more than most high school grads today. No technology; a slide rule for math. Our grammar skills were impeccable. It's appalling to watch the education system in this country, roll over into moral irrelevance and decay.

I was taught to live and let live. As long as someone is kind to me, I should not care how they live their own life.

But when they get really pushy and shove it in my face, then it really gets irritating.

If they are gay, fine. Just don't shove it down my throat.

The problem, SheLion, is that they know they're on a roll towards their ultimate goal: getting their filthy, degenerate hands on the children.

As leftist politicians are always spouting: "It's for the children;" or as the junior senator from New Yarkansas has written, "It takes a village (full of sodomites) to raise a child."

Somewhere along the line, the definition or idea of the word "respect" has been transposed with "courtesy".

Courtesy: 1. Kind and thoughtful behavior toward another;
politeness; gracious attention. 2. A favor or indulgence.

Respect: 1. Treat with special consideration or high
regard; heed. 2. Have reference to; relate to. 3. High
esteem; considerate treatment.

=====

I totally agree with you on this.

Open door, indeed. The back door, I'm thinking.

I'm a university student and the faction of gays there have an almost militant organization that is, in my opinion, very scary.

It is very possible for one to teach their children to not accept the gay lifestyle..."disrespect it" if you will...and still not hav them beat or murder a "perverted fag."

Happens all the time.

Welcome to FR.

Is SpongeBob SquarePants Gay?

By Robert Paul Reyes
Dec. 18, 2004

In my essays I've pondered the existence of god, examined the 2004 election results and questioned Bush's foreign policy, but now it's time for me to consider a truly weighty subject: Is SpongeBob SquarePants gay?

Everyone has been asking that question since a Wall Street Journal article reported that the popular cartoon character has a huge gay following.

Since I don't have the intellectual gravitas to create a theory that unites all the fields of physics, let me attempt to solve the SpongeBob mystery.

Let me state at the outset that there is nothing wrong with being gay, it's not as if we are debating if SpongeBob is a bed-wetter or a bank robber. Some of my best sponges are a nice shade of lavender.

The creator of Nickelodeon's "SpongeBob SquarePants," Stephen Hillenburg, insists that SpongeBob is "kind of special," but not gay. Hmm, that's what my mom used to say, when I asked why Uncle Albert wasn't married: Honey, your uncle is kind of special, he prefers to stay home and listen to Broadway show tunes, instead of going to bars and picking up floozies.

Let's examine the evidence pointing to SpongeBob's gay orientation. There's no denying that Ole SquarePants is a wee bit light on his loafers; he has a penchant for holding hands with his bud Patrick and he has a proclivity for sashaying around his pineapple house in his tight briefs.

But would a gay man, or sponge, live in a community called "Bikini Bottom"? Would a gay man wear SpongeBob's aesthetically-challenged attire? Would a homosexual have a snail as a pet? As I recall Uncle Albert had a cat, but he would set out poison to kill the snails that nibbled on his precious flower garden.

SpongeBob SquarePants is no Tinky Winky; he's just an average, enthusiastic, live-and-let-live sponge. Gays may find him appealing as a gay icon, but there's many women who find him sponge- worthy. And children love him because he is a funny and friendly human being, umm, I mean sponge.

Now, his next-door neighbor, Squidward -- that fussy queen is another matter altogether...

Garbanzo:

You say, "You have the right to your opinion on whether or not homosexuality or drug use is okay"

What is your personal belief about these two things:

1. Do you believe homosexuality to be a sin and a free will choice, or "orientation" something inborn that is not a matter of choice, and that teachers should keep all of their choice or orientation OUT of a K-6 classroom, and

2. Do you believe the death penalty is appropriate for adult who prey on young boys or girls, or when exactly is the death penalty absolutely warranted?

Thanks for the welcome : )

And i agree, but imo it's because they are taught atleast a small level of tolerance - not acceptance, and a basic respect for life - not a lifestyle.
