Dan Rather/CBS's attempt to influence the election through the use of fraudulent documents was exposed on www.FreeRepublic.com, the internet's premier conservative news forum. Within minutes of Rather's "news" broadcast, members of Free Republic started to dissect the story. Freepers Buckhead & TankerKC led the charge and quickly uncovered the bogus charges that the network was leveling against President Bush.
The spinning and stonewalling began immediately with a former executive Vice President of CBS news, Jonathan Klein, stating on Fox News that "You couldn't have a starker contrast between the multiple layers of checks and balances at 60 minutes and a guy sitting in his living room in his pajamas writing".
Mr. Klein could not have been more wrong. The fact of the matter is that FreeRepublic.com has over 150,000 registered members (called Freepers) from all walks of life; including, journalists! This variety of backgrounds plus the Freepers' knowledge of researching the internet combined with an ingrained skepticism and desire for truth telling far surpasses today's definition of journalism.
Freeper ForGod'sSake went to work on a graphic that he hoped would symbolize the new tag bestowed by Mr. Klein and thusly, the Pajama Patrol Badge was born. The badge was posted on relevant threads and received a warm response from many Freepers.
Another Freeper, Seeking the Truth, owner of the political satire website, 0cents.com, offered to produce the Pajama Patrol Badge Products and there are now several items available; Stamp Sheets, Tee Shirts, Mousepads, Coffee Mugs, Fridge Magnets, BBQ Aprons, Beer Steins, Magnetic Bumper Stickers, Oval Bumper Stickers

Actually, I've never seen a badger, red, tawney , green or otherwise. The name comes from the National Security Agency. My company makes stuff for them and I had to go to Ft. Meade for an installation/service call once. I was not allowed to even go to the restroom unaccompanied. I had to wear a RED BADGE and chain around my neck for secuity reasons. Every room that we passed through to get to my equipment the escort had to open the door and yell "RED BADGER IN THE AREA" before I was allowed to pass through. Everyone had to turn off their computer monitors or cover them with newspapers.......

To: Seeking the truth; Buckhead
I know Buckhead has enjoyed about all the attention he can stand from this, but I can't allow this thread to go without his historical comments being noted at least once more:
Howlin, every single one of these memos to file is in a proportionally spaced font, probably Palatino or Times New Roman.
In 1972 people used typewriters for this sort of thing, and typewriters used monospaced fonts.
The use of proportionally spaced fonts did not come into common use for office memos until the introduction of laser printers, word processing software, and personal computers. They were not widespread until the mid to late 90's. Before then, you needed typesetting equipment, and that wasn't used for personal memos to file. Even the Wang systems that were dominant in the mid 80's used monospaced fonts.
I am saying these documents are forgeries, run through a copier for 15 generations to make them look old.
This should be pursued aggressively.

Thanks for the ping, and I really wish I could remember the Freeper Vet that used a tagline that went something like 'First Division Pajamas, Battalion Bunnyslippers':)

"Actually, I've never seen a badger, red, tawney , green or otherwise."HA!!
I'd imagine a Floridian wouldn't be familiar with the onery creatures, huh.
Fair enough.

Facinating.
30 years ago I was one of those guys who'd have escorted you [read: civilian contractor] into the top secret installation I worked physical security at. That requirement used to be called, "The Two Man Rule".
But has probably been changed to reflect the level of PC nonsense strangling the nation these days.
Say something like?
..."Two *Person* Rule" for example? ;^)

Asgardshill:"...your web designer should be impaled on a fence somewhere - the drum solo is over the top..."
-Seeking the truth: ".... I'm the designer..."
Bwahahaa! -and I thought I was the only one who made such gaffs.
Reminds me of a joke:
A man is at the opera, and he leans over to the man next to him, and says, "I can't stand this music! It's terrible!"
The other man responds: "That's my wife singing."
"-Oh, I'm sorry, I'm sure your wife is a great singer, it must be the composer.
To which the man replied; "I composed the music."
FGS, great job on the badge.
Seeking the truth: great job on the post, and the website!
But I'm not going to say anything about the website music or the designer.
By the way, Seeking...does your wife play the drums?
