Why don't you read Trident Delta's #66 to me and ask him the same question?
Here is a hint: Look for the words and phrases "Idiot" and STFU.
Check that out and get back with me.

Gee, I am impressed. You tout yourself as a big-time shooter, but fail in the clutch. At least you have reasonable taste in weapons.
Just for the record, Yes, I do consider myself somewhat of a weapons expert, having been called to testify in court as an expert witness on the ballistic effects of military weapons. I am an ex-cop (recently resigned), now a PI. My second to last assignment was in the ballistics section at our department crime lab. And yes, I am a retired CWO from the USMC.

I did catch that tidbit on another thread. My comment there is that Vang being a landowner means he understands what ownership is, therefore he must be familar with the concept of trespass.
The Saiga is an AK-47 action. It is not an SKS action. They are very different. Apples and oranges...not splitting hair at all.
Frankly, I don't care what use other people had for his property, in season or out. I'd like to know if this "probable" serial killer used it for practice, or possibly for psychotic play-acting with others of his ilk.
In fact, I'd like to know who assisted him in preparing his defense ~ which was quite clearly prepared long beforehand.
The victims' only mistake was in being too trusting of an armed man. It wasn't their knowledge of the intricacies and subtleties of the law that got them into trouble.
Is is NOT an SKS action. It is an AK-47 action. The magazine well is modified to accept 10 round Saiga manufactured magazines. Standard AK-47 mags have to be machined to fit into the Saiga rifle. Take a trip to the local gun shop and compare the Saiga, an SKS and an AK-47. You need to educate yourself on this one.
True.
But it is very relevant as to why he was on someone elses' land, in someone elses' tree stand. BTW, there were posts on other threads today indicating that this has happened multiple times over the span of 2 or 3 years.
Thats the nice thing about competetive shooting. I know what I can do and I know what the rest can do because its all right there in black and white at the end of the day.
And one thing I have learned is that the people who are full of talk regarding their expertise in the morning are generally the ones full of excuses at the end of the day when the scores are tallied.
Usually someone claiming to be a Marine who could shoot six inch groups at 500 meters all day long with his rack grade M-16 and 55 grain GI ball ammo back when he was in the Corp.
The first day this story aired I posted a link in one of the threads to the AP news feed on Yahoo. I thought it was strange that they referred to a semi-automatic rifle as a "Typical" hunting weapon. I had asked whether this was an accurate portrayal, but didn't really receive an answer to that. The spin started with the first postings of this story by the AP (surprise, surprise).
It definitely sounds like the media is trying to turn this into a "guns are bad" issue.
Yup

"Saiga MK rifle is a civilian version of Kalashnikov AK-104 assault rifle"
" Check that out and get back with me."
So somebody else is rude to you and you use that to justify that behavior toward me.
Thanks, but no thanks. Goodbye.
Something tells me he didn't expect such a large number of people though.
Again, it's pretty obvious Vang's intent was to hunt man, not deer! He used the deer stand act as "bait".
Ah, can you point to where I made any such outlandish claim? Most of the issue 16's were POS. Some of the newer stuff is good, but none of them have MOA accuracy. I have NEVER made any claims regarding my prowess with firearms since it is a subjective measure, dependent on the stress of the moment. I must be relatively effecient to still be among the breathing. I will allow that a large number of my USMC compatriots tend to embellish thier firearms asbility, but, again, I don't recall EVER making such a statement.

True, but not available here in the US. Back when Bush I was President he signed some type of executive order that banned the importation of firearms with certain features that were considered non sporting.
This was separate from the Clinton AW ban which came later. While the Bush ban prevented imports you could still purchase 'non sporting' rifles if they were made in the US with a majority of US parts. We're back at that point today with the sunset of the AW ban.
The rifle in your link is still banned in the US because the Bush import ban is still with us.
Instead we only get the castrated 'sport version' here: http://www.eaacorp.com/firearms/saiga/rifles/saiga100t.shtml
What's the difference you may ask: mostly cosmetic and about 20 yrs in Club Fed .
You've got it backwards.
You point to where I said you did.
The 7.62 x 39 is not considered a high power round. It is considered a medium power round. 7.62 x 51 and 7.62 x 54 would be considered high powered rounds. The 7.62 x 39 would be comparable to a Winchester 30-30 round for deer hunting.
