EXELAND, Wis. - Five people are dead and three injured in a shooting incident that apparently began over a hunting dispute in western Wisconsin.
The confrontation began around noon in a rural area southwestern Sawyer County. Authorities said a hunting party returning to their deer shack reported seeing a hunter unknown to them occupying their tree stand. That led to a shooting.
One of the shooting victims used a walkie talkie to radio back to the deer shack for help. When the victim's hunting partners came to the scene, they were also shot.
Sawyer County was in a virtual lockdown as authorities searched for the gunman. One suspect was eventually taken into custody around 5:15 p.m.
The suspect's name has not been released.
Officials at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake said they have treated at least three gunshot victims. They said one of the victims was transported to a hospital in Marshfield, WI. Another victim is in critical condition and is undergoing surgery. The third victim is in fair condition in the intensive care unit.

I wonder if the killer spoke English?
I can nail a small coffee can at 100 yards with the iron sights on my SKS. Cheap, accurate bang for the buck.
You laugh, but I think the move against SUV's is really a lead in for back door gun control. Think about it: No way to use 4X4 to get into the hunting areas and no more general hunts unless one uses pack animals. Thus no more sporting use test! All our deer rifles really do get instantly converted to sniper variants.
"WTF,I'm not anti-gun at all but who goes hunting with an SKS and what are they hunting."
Thousands of these guns have been sold to hunters and
they hunt deer, the SKS is a semi-auto (legal) just as
many other hunting guns are and most other hunting guns
are more powerful. I get the impression that you think this a cannon taking from a tank or B-29! It is actually
a light caliber. The guy is just a plain killer, he is
the problem not the gun.
you're on the wrong website, Francois.
Most of the Hmong are from the highlands of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia.........
Eaker is yer tree stand "posted" ?;O)
My first thought.
The guy wasn't a "hunter"...he was a sniper.

Hmong polygamy is rampant.
Thanks for prayers.
Let me guess, Bush's fault right? /sarcasm off
Historically hunting has been one of the safest sports in America. This disjointed individual merely reflects the breakdown in society fomented by liberals. Blaming the particular weapon is futile. He could have used axes to kill these innocents. If we follow liberal logic, we should ban basketball to prevent incidents like this weekend!
Looks like another "Diverse One" increasing our strength.
My father has an SKS but I'm from illinois where you can't use a rifle to hunt deer. I could see using an SKS for coyote hunting but not much anything else. But let it be known I'm not a hunter at all.
Does not shock me at all. Its deer season here in Michigan and I have seen turf arguements for years now. Last week monday I was working (I am a Logger) and my trucker came in for his third load. We are on corporate land and this old beezer tried to kick the trucker out as it was the first day of season. The trucker asked if it was bothering him to load a load in 3/4s of an hour. The coot went on a rant and grabbed his gun. In the meantime I showed up as the trucker had called me via mobile phone. I asked the bastard if it was his land and if he would like to see the inside of a jail. He was holding his rifle towards me at that time and I had my strap off my 41 mag and my hand on it (I carry for protection as there are wolves around there). His boys came and hauled him off. I let it go by for a day and then contacted a police officer to go out and have a frinedly chat with him. Aint heard from him since nor was there anyone around his camp after that.
It is getting so they fight over even turf on state and fed as well as corporate areas. I quit deer hunting over ten years ago becuase of this.
Holy Sh*t. I know quite a few people in that area and most of them hunt. There's probably more details in the Sawyer County Record.
>So he is a Chi-Com Ehh....?<
Nope, his people were our allies during the '70's.
see post 101 :)
The Hmmong tribespeople had about 1/10th of their population obliterated by the Communists after the US withdrew. They were loyal American allies. I think many took refugee in the United States. The NYT had an article a while back that claimed they voted democratic. I don't believe it.
Feingold-Michaels spar over Hmong refugees, Laos trade, int'l human rights
