HUNTER GOES BERZERK IN WISCONSIN; AT LEAST FIVE DEAD
Drudge Report ^

Posted on 11/21/2004 4:15:12 PM PST by Jotmo

EXELAND, Wis. - Five people are dead and three injured in a shooting incident that apparently began over a hunting dispute in western Wisconsin.

The confrontation began around noon in a rural area southwestern Sawyer County. Authorities said a hunting party returning to their deer shack reported seeing a hunter unknown to them occupying their tree stand. That led to a shooting.

One of the shooting victims used a walkie talkie to radio back to the deer shack for help. When the victim's hunting partners came to the scene, they were also shot.

Sawyer County was in a virtual lockdown as authorities searched for the gunman. One suspect was eventually taken into custody around 5:15 p.m.

The suspect's name has not been released.

Officials at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake said they have treated at least three gunshot victims. They said one of the victims was transported to a hospital in Marshfield, WI. Another victim is in critical condition and is undergoing surgery. The third victim is in fair condition in the intensive care unit.

I like your tagline. It reminds me of Denis Leary.

About noon, some of the party were back in the shack and others were out hunting, and as the hunting group headed back to the shack they saw that this guy had come back again and sitting in one of their tree stands. They walked over to confront him,

That was their mistake there. Unless he started shooting before they confronted him, calling the authorities first would have been their best bet.

Yup, impossible that this happened. The liberal people of Wisconsin ensured it wouldn't when they "elected" Kerry.

They're always called SKS by the ignorant media it seems.

The sheriff made sure, by identifying the guy as Hmong, that the catcalls of racism will be thrown about by the media seeking a story even more sensational than five people getting murdered.

Probably 5 years ago. It was like $80 at a gun show. Made in China of course.

The Hmong were some of our special forces best allies. They sacrificed in the Vietnam war in helping us interdict the Ho Chi Minh trail (a network of road systems supplying the communist attack on the south).

We abandoned them to the North Vietnamese when we left causing the deaths of thousands. The ones who are here are the survivors and their families, who our government felt guilty about. Why they settled in the Northern states is a mystery to me. There are many in Green Bay, too.

"What the hell was this guy shooting with an SKS? IIRC, thats the kind of rifle the chinese used before they got AKs. I dad has one and they're a cheap semi-auto rifle."

What the hell is your point? Would you feel better if he
was using a Browning Semi-Auto 30-06? Sks are actually
less powerful and shoots the same way! Bang,Bang,Bang,Bang,
Bang...

I noticed the other day on FR that someone had made it where you could hunt from home for deer, I can see the killing now from someone's computer (hacker) that has gained control of a remote control gun center in the middle of the woods.

Weird world.

And thank you. My husband just arrived home from deer hunting with several friends. I've told him what little I can gather from this thread, but I'll appreciate anything you can share. His first question - why didn't someone shoot back?

There is tension between the Hmong and some people in northern Wisconsin.

I would imagine that tension is about to escalate in a big way.
