Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004 10:30 p.m. EST Bill 'Captain Queeg' Clinton Threatens Peter Jennings
A paranoid-sounding Bill Clinton threatened ABC News anchorman Peter Jennings in an interview broadcast Thursday night, in a bizarre rant about his impeachment that laid bare the ex-president's persecution complex.
"You don't want to go here, Peter," Clinton warned, after Jennings told him that historians ranked him second to last of all presidents in terms of moral authority.
Squinting his eyes, an angry Clinton seethed, "You don't want to go here. Not after what you people did. And the way you - your network - what you did with Kenneth Starr. The way your people repeated every little sleazy thing he did. No one has any idea of what that's like." The amazing exchange came after Clinton at first claimed he didn't care about the verdict of historians.
"I had more support from the world when I quit than when I started," he claimed. "And I will go to my grave being at peace about it. And I don't really care about what [the historians] think."
Immediately, Jennings challenged Clinton, all but calling him a liar.
"Oh, yes you do . . . Excuse me, Mr. President. I can feel it across the room. You care very deeply."
Jennings' challenge sent Clinton into a thinly veiled rage, prompting him to threaten, "You don't want to go here, Peter."
The full exchange went like this:
JENNINGS (Discussing rankings by presidential historians]: They gave you a forty-first in terms of moral authority - after Nixon.
CLINTON: They're wrong about that. You know why they're wrong about it? They're wrong about it.
JENNINGS: Why, sir?
CLINTON: Because we had $100 million spent against us in all these inspections . . . In spite of it all, you don't have any example where I ever lied to the American people about my job, where I have let the American people down. And I had more support from the world when I quit than when I started. And I will go to my grave being at peace about it. And I don't really care about what they think.
JENNINGS: Oh, yes you do.
CLINTON: They have no idea . . .
JENNINGS: Excuse me, Mr. President. I can feel it across the room. You care very deeply.
CLINTON: No, no. I care. In care. You don't want to go here, Peter. You don't want to go here. Not after what your people did. And the way you - your network - what you did with Kenneth Starr. The way your people repeated every little sleazy thing he did. No one has any idea of what that's like.
Jennings said that to Clinton????????????????
Whoa! A pig just flew by my window.
Weazels are cute furry creatures not to be confused with Canadians and Arkansas scumbags..
I think that was Warren "teapot dome" Harding
Bubba, the lip-bitin'-liar is oh so proud of the standing ovation he received at the UN (ABC even cuts to a clip of this) & he states that he had more support from world leaders when he quit than when he started. In other words, what is so damn important to him is what the rest of the world thinks of him, NOT what Americans think. Hmm...shades of that treasonous-snakelip-lickin'-liar Kerry.
Ah, Billy Boy, your legacy is that you taught the American public how to parse! Note the lawyerly answer where he doesn't say he didn't lie but rather (!) you don't have an example (cue Bart Simpson: I didn't do it; nobody saw me; you can't prove a thing). But in fact, WJC is wrong. We DO have an example of job-related malfeasance: the employer molesting a young impressionable employee. That is job-related. Period.
The icing on the cake is that Bill brought down the womyn's movement as they all rushed to accuse Monica instead of Bill.
Without having read the rankings Pee-tah was referring to, my guess would be Ulysses S. Grant.
Watch carefully while the liberal party implodes. Watch and do not be too sympathetic. Remember they would be gleeful if the situation were reversed. Slowly, surely, mortality takes its toll. OUT Clinton! OUT Kerry! OUT Edwards! OUT D'ash-ole. OUT old media! OUT Hollywood traitors! Someone is moving this show and the wheels of justice are a-grinding. The final sucking sound you hear is the last peabrain liberal being sucked down to oblivion. Like Gollum in The Return of the King, the disappearing liberals will never know what hit them. They'll be holding onto their trivia as they sink into the cauldron of historical insignificance.
What Clinton actually said was, "The way your people repeated every little sleazy thing he leaked."
In the 1st instance the "sleazy thing"s were of Starr, in the acurate quote Clinton admits that it was his own actions that were sleazy!
Am I the only one seeing it this way?
"JENNINGS: Excuse me, Mr. President. I can feel it across the room. You care very deeply"
At that point, I thought Jennings was going to get on his knees, crawl over to Clinton, kiss his - well, whatever - and ask for forgiveness.
I personally like the Harding possibility. If I understand the history of all this, Grant was a highly moral person who was (at least in his second term) the wrong guy for the wrong place at the wrong time. His major malfunction was he was guileless in dealing with the utter corruption that has gravitated to DC since it became the capital. He trusted people, always a gamble when there is graft available.

bump for your spot-on analysis
LOL, just give Hillary a pair of 'pigs wings'!!
GREAT catch! Where are the REAL reporters - that ought to be played again and again under the banner Clinton admits to sleeze"
send it to Rush and Hanity - and FOX - someone will pick it up and the rest will follow
Not to mention a followup question: "Is clinton implying that leaked information about his "sleezy" actions is worse than his "sleezy" actions?
At first blush I even thought that Petah might be growing a spine, but it only took a minute to get over that illusion.
I have always contended that Bubba is a sociopath and his distorted perception of his actions only proves my point. He claims that he never "let the people down"--what a crock! I talked to many Clinton devotees who were seriously distraught when they could no longer deny that he was a lying POS.
He went into a tirade about his friends being harassed because they would not lie. Excuse me, they were convicted for a number of acts of fraud. That is where Petah dropped the ball--if he really had a spine he would have nailed Bubba to the wall on that BS.

"GREAT catch!" back at ya'!
Yours is the ONLY reply I got to this post - I figured no one thinks it's signicant.
Only Ronald Reagan has done more for the Republican Party and Conservative ideology.
