Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004 10:30 p.m. EST Bill 'Captain Queeg' Clinton Threatens Peter Jennings
A paranoid-sounding Bill Clinton threatened ABC News anchorman Peter Jennings in an interview broadcast Thursday night, in a bizarre rant about his impeachment that laid bare the ex-president's persecution complex.
"You don't want to go here, Peter," Clinton warned, after Jennings told him that historians ranked him second to last of all presidents in terms of moral authority.
Squinting his eyes, an angry Clinton seethed, "You don't want to go here. Not after what you people did. And the way you - your network - what you did with Kenneth Starr. The way your people repeated every little sleazy thing he did. No one has any idea of what that's like." The amazing exchange came after Clinton at first claimed he didn't care about the verdict of historians.
"I had more support from the world when I quit than when I started," he claimed. "And I will go to my grave being at peace about it. And I don't really care about what [the historians] think."
Immediately, Jennings challenged Clinton, all but calling him a liar.
"Oh, yes you do . . . Excuse me, Mr. President. I can feel it across the room. You care very deeply."
Jennings' challenge sent Clinton into a thinly veiled rage, prompting him to threaten, "You don't want to go here, Peter."
The full exchange went like this:
JENNINGS (Discussing rankings by presidential historians]: They gave you a forty-first in terms of moral authority - after Nixon.
CLINTON: They're wrong about that. You know why they're wrong about it? They're wrong about it.
JENNINGS: Why, sir?
CLINTON: Because we had $100 million spent against us in all these inspections . . . In spite of it all, you don't have any example where I ever lied to the American people about my job, where I have let the American people down. And I had more support from the world when I quit than when I started. And I will go to my grave being at peace about it. And I don't really care about what they think.
JENNINGS: Oh, yes you do.
CLINTON: They have no idea . . .
JENNINGS: Excuse me, Mr. President. I can feel it across the room. You care very deeply.
CLINTON: No, no. I care. In care. You don't want to go here, Peter. You don't want to go here. Not after what your people did. And the way you - your network - what you did with Kenneth Starr. The way your people repeated every little sleazy thing he did. No one has any idea of what that's like.
Entertainment Tonight (sidenote....its fitting that Klintoons liebrary circus be reported on a show about hollywood loons) mentioned that all of the FOBs who Bill and Hellery invited (such as their actor friends) stayed at the Peabody.....as did The Klintoons.
The Peabody is the new name of the Hotel in Little Rock where Clinton exposed himself to a female state worker when he was Governor.
AND YOU CAN BET....WHEN HE WAS GOV....HE STAYED IN THE TOP SUITE......WHICH MEAN'S HILLARY IS SLEEPING WHERE SOME OF BILL'S OTHER ROMPS HAVE....
Clinton's CABG has affected him.
I don't like him and as a Southron white male saw him comng many years ago for what he is but I have empathy.
He can't control his diminished capacity. He looks awful.
Before he would have deftly handled Jennings who is obviously no rapier intellect.
I look about the same myself....or so I'm told...though I probably lost 5% cog skills and IQ....but at 160 or so....what's 8 points eh? (in my dreams)
IMO your "O" is the best damn analysis I've heard!
Also, the State of the Union speech about no missles being pointed at the US.
He truly believes he's been persecuted. Amazing.
But then again, it's not as if he could admit to anything, if he is to run as The First Man for '08.
I apologize if anyone has posted the same sentiments already; it will take me a while to read over all these posts.
You forgot to parse His Stainness's words. He said he never lied "...about his job..."
He just never said what kind of job he was talking about.
"It"...let's define "It".
Does "It" mean being a [real] reporter?
Does "It" mean being an [real] American?
No, I think when we speak of stuffed shirts like *Petah* "It" means a [real] man.
And *Petah* -- like all his colleagues at the alphabet nets -- would not be in the jobs they are had they not first failed all three items above, and probably a good deal more.
The Liberal-Socialist "Big Bug" in charge of choosing who the talking-head quisling geeks will be?
...don't need people who can & will think for themselves.
Because the MSM knows what the rest of us do - Clinton destroyed the democrat party. The Jury is back, and the votes are in.
The map is red, from about 50 miles inland on the Pacific coast, all the way to the Atlantic, and down to the Gulf of Mexico.
Clinton did squat for 8 years, gave Republicans the peace and security issue for the next 12 years, and to boot he used the White House like a double wide in Laughlin, NV.
Until he dies, the party is going to carry his stink, and the media is going right along with it. Jennings, Rather - this is NOT the way they wanted to end their careers. Clinton is to blame for it - they'll deny their own responsibility in not doing more to stop Clinton when they had the ability and responsibility to do so.
No, I don't think the "old Bill Clinton" would have acted that way. He's definitely different.
Something seems different with him and Hillary. He just looked so frail.
I'm only 45, but my parent have friends who have had bypass surgery - people I have known all my life. That surgery definitely changes them.
I don't like Hillary at all, but it's been obvious to me that, as great as she thinks she is, she just wants her husband to want her. He didn't come across to me as someone who wants her, but as someone she thought really needed her now.
No No Mama......it should be Lie-BURY!
lol Thanks for the pics.
This is exactly as his LIEbrary explains it as well.
Persecution! HA!
As opposed to a jellyfish ;^)
Couldn'a said it better my friend.
...don't need people who can & will think for themselves.
Then again, maybe we're talkin' Parrots here???
Good points one and all.
FGS
Well said.
I love your tagline by the way.
I agree with this. I heard Ben Stein say about Bush, "He married for love and he stayed married." I think this is something a lot of people can admire. In fact, we have only ever had one divorced president, and he was married to someone he obviously adored and vice versa for a long time. Then there is the guy who married up after discarding a wife who was suicidal and who called his war buddies war criminals to get face time on TV. You pay your money and take your choice.
However, this whole values thing seems to be becoming a chance for the Left to vent, especially against Evangelical Christians. Must not be PC.
A double wide on columns.
Jennings better head back to Canuckistan, or the fetid embrace of Hanan Ashrawi. He may wind up an Arkancide.
It's gratuitous, completely. He wants you (and us) to think that he's really just a fair-minded guy.
A few things lead up to this. First, the national anchors were deeply shaken when Tom Brokaw was booed at Oklahoma University last weekend. (They have NO idea how thoroughly they are reviled in the heartland.) And they are very sensitive to being unloved.
So, in order to establish a "balanced" credential, he throws a teensy, blunted jab at Governor Clinton. He can do this because the national election is over (so no risk of dunning a dem) and Governor Clinton isn't running for anything ever again.
It worked, too. Sort of, anyway. Some here are remarking about Jenning's about face. I'm here to suggest to you that Jenning's question was not at all genuine.
The transcript can't convey the seething rage with which Clinton spoke. The "You don't want to go there, you don't want to go there" was menacing. I've heard about his purple rages before, and I think we got a peek at one tonight.
One thing the article left out, but was included in Clinton's rant: He said the MSM had chosen to cover the scandal rather than other things they could have covered. A clip of UN delegates giving Clinton a standing ovation was shown. Clinton said bitterly that while the UN was giving him a standing O, ABC instead chose to cover his grand-jury testimony. (Wasn't that when he said "It depends what the meaning of Is is"?).
I hope this is on TV tomorrow. It certainly will be all over talk radio.
The one I remember was Paul Sperry, but that was while the dirtbag was still in office.
I believe Clinton is an evil, sick b@$tard, but I don't believe saying, "You don't want to go there!" is communicating a threat.
