U.S. Army psyops unit to Fallujah insurgents: "Come and kill us."

Posted on 11/10/2004 3:37:38 PM PST by no.radar

Chicago Tribune, 10 Nov 04 (Excerpt from article entitled "GIs punch into Fallujah center")...

"A U.S. psychological operations unit broadcast a message in Arabic over a loudspeaker in an attempt to draw out insurgents. 'Brave terrorists, I am waiting here for the brave terrorists. Come and kill us. Plant small bombs on roadsides. Attention, attention, terrorists of Fallujah.'"

Related Tribune article also reports of a Humvee with a loudspeaker blaring Richard Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries," the music used in the helicopter attack scene in "Apocalypse Now."

FINALLY...a war-effort contibution from Hollywood!

...Roller-skaters, killer mimes...the movie had it all...LOL!

Yeah...the mimes! MIMES! What a freakin' carnival.

The only "gang" the movie missed portraying was a wheel-chairing caravan of Jamaican midgets donning Darth Vader helmets!

"[rats...this means I'll be at Circuit City picking up a DVD copy tomorrow]"

It'll be fun to watch again...

I was in Baghdad about 20 years ago. A colleague invited me over for dinner and to watch a video. I approached his house from one direction, and an Iraqi plumber approached from the other direction. We both arrived at the gate at the same time. George opened his door and his bull mastiff, Simon, rushed past him and lunged at the gate where the Iraqi plumber was. I feared for his life. I'd always heard that dogs hated Arabs and it was mutual.

I'm embarassed to tell you how many times my friends and I piled into the car and went to the drive-in while that movie was playing.

I think it acquired "cult movie" status the day it came out...;))

I'm not up on my Wagner. Is this the same piece that Bugs Bunny used?

Dunno about Bugs, but Elmer Fudd (recently defeated for President, such wotten wuck) did: "Kill the wab-bit, kill the wab-bit, kill the wab-bit, kill the wab-bit!"

Be vewy vewy qwiet -- we'we hunting eye-wackis!

Hmmm...I never thought of Warriors as a 'make-out' movie ;-)

Did they blow the Minaret to hell?

ABC News doesn't report on urban renewal.

But I trust our people wasted the silly guys skipping down the spiral stairs.

I was simply making a statement that Wagner scene from "Apocalypse Now" was a symbolic slap in the face of the troops in Vietnam (at least I think that is what Coppola meant it to be).

I like Wagner music a lot though I don't think I could go through a whole opera. I enjoy the Rienzi Overture myself.

Trashcanbred explained something important to me. I was unaware Wagner himself was an AntiSemite. I thought he had died before Hitler came to power, though I had read his widow was a Hitler groupie, or vice versa.

As with the case with Campbell and his "Myth and Legend" series, once I discover a person is that way, I no longer patronize their works, respect them, or have further traffic with them. I apologize if I unwittingly defended Wagner, not knowing that.

There will be no more Wagner here.

No need to get your briefs in a bunch. I was merely stating a fact.

I'm 51 if stating your age was supposed to mean something to me.

I don't like Wagner. If I listen to highbrow music I listen to Pavarotti.

Can we just drop Wagner.

I don't care if they listen to "Santa Claus is coming to town".

"...if someone makes fun of their masculinity..."

The notion that there is such a thing as "Arab masculinity" is a myth!
