Anyone who thinks the US government is leaving barrels around with obvious WMD and who posts that sentiment here is no friend of FR and no friend of GWB.

I got the impression from articles that I have read that chemicals have been found in Iraq, but they were separated in such a way (separate barrels) and could not be called official WMD, but if you mixed them in 5 minutes they would be.

What does your anonymous Freeper know of that?

It has already been clear that the chemicals and other precursors for WMDs have existed in great volume in Iraq all along. What critics of Bush demand to see are vast stockpiles of weaponized WMDs... shells, bombs, deliverable gas, etc. Bush's critics really don't care what the facts are, they just want something to bash him with.. and "NO WMDs" suits them fine. Frankly, I think it is obvious to anyone that has paid attention, that just the stockpiles that would shut them up WERE there... until they were shipped into Syria and Lebanon. The 18 month run up to the war was ample time for Saddam to ship the weapons out. Don't expect any curiosity regarding this aspect of this issue on the part of the Michael Moore wing of the Democrat Party.

By what logic does one conclude that the contents of a beat-up old barrel or box has any relationship whatsoever to the content of said barrel?

Maybe I just don't belong here after all.

In the UK, GEWS means "General Establishment for Water and Sewerage" which uses chlorine to purify water.

As for evidence of WMD's, the 700 tons of yellowcake fit my definition, and that material has already been brought back to the U.S., including news stories on it. Ditto for the mass graves that were found in Iraq in 2004 but were causa belli for our war against Serbia in 1999.

Put your think cap on. People who have experience in chemicals can read and judge what is in thos barrels. In the past 6 1/2 years, I have seen things like that happen countless times here on FR because of the literally thousands of people from all walks of life who post and lurk here. It's been posted on FR for just that purpose, with just that potential in mind.

The pics are genuine, from Iraq, this year. They are labeled as they were found.

You can believe it or not. That's up to you. I have posted them as a friend who has been stationed over there requested.

So that is chlorine and this dimethyl sulfate stored together? Maybe they were just too lazy to take out the trash or get the local fire department to come by and pick up all their unwanted hazardous chemicals?

Great work and observation. Thanks regarding the GEWS. That's a good explanation for that particular cannister.

Like you, I believe there was and is ample evidence of WMDs in Iraq. I also believe that we were justified in going in there with or without it. Saddam flaunted the agreements he signed to establish the cease fire from Desert Storm. It was time to make those agreements mean something...long since past time IMHO.

You are making assumptions regarding the intentions of the post and the sentiments of those posting, wrong assumptions.

As to the US government "leaving them around", note the individual walking behind the boxes in the 1st pic of the second row. Note the uniform. These things clearly were not just left around. Another bad assumption.

But, as I said, you can believe what you want.

If the UN found them in 91, why would they still be in Iraq?

That was exactly what I thought. That explanation, with all due respect to the freeper made no sense to me.

Jeff, this is mind blowing in one sense, and not surprising in another. The media certainly doesn't want us to see or hear about these things. Please thank the freeper in Iraq, and tell him/her our thoughts and prayers are with him/her.

The straight forward type of logic.

I know this, the person who took the pic could only spend so much time in that room. Read the MSDS on Dimethyl Sulfate again.

...and last, look, no one is saying you have to buy this. It is your right and privelege to disagree, to debate, etc. Some of us want to examine stuff like this, research it, see if some people with experience have something to say...then decide for ourselves.

That's all.

As to the US government "leaving them around", note the individual walking behind the boxes in the 1st pic of the second row. Note the uniform. These things clearly were not just left around. Another bad assumption. An individual walking in the background means only that there is an individual walking in the background. I went to your Web site, and frankly I'm surprised you are being affected so deeply by photographic "evidence," which is always suspect. I can't believe the conclusions you're drawing. So people in the army are free to shoot pictures in sensitive areas? Excuse me while I call the President to complain about this laxity. We don't need no steeeeenkin' WMD. They were/are there. They are likely buried on the sites that were dismantled so that there will be unhappiness when new building foundations are dug, or in any number of other countries.
