FReeper Research Needed: What Evidence is There that the DNC or Kerry Gave CBS the Forged Docs?

Once again, there is an opportunity for FReeper research to make a big difference in this election.

If you have any evidence on the following questions, please post it to this thread.

1) Anything that suggests that the DNC is the source of the forged memos, i.e. that the DNC provided CBS with the forged Guard documents

2) Anything that suggests that the Kerry campaign is the source of the forged memos, i.e. that Kerry's camp provided CBS with the forged Guard documents

If we can get this evidence and make the connection, and get it out to the 'blogosphere, this election will be over.

Apparantly the Feds are not involved because the "Docs" are not being presented to any federal agency as "evidence" or as a "contractual" disclosure. Presenting them on television or the 'net is the same as an entertainment program or satire. First Amendment protections apply.

I think, since these forgeries constitute a federal crimes (18 USCS § 3, 18 USCS § 912, 18 USCS § 1001, 18 USCS § 1018, etc.) that the FBI has jurisdiction over this matter.

They take this stuff very seriously. VERY seriously. If we contact them (if enough of us contact them), they WILL investigate.

Tell them that a federal crime has been committed (the forgeries, violating 18 USCS § 3, 18 USCS § 912, 18 USCS § 1001, 18 USCS § 1018, et al), and that there is circumstantial evidence (American Spectator) that the DNC and the Kerry campaign was involved.

Say it in your own words, but there is enough to launch an FBI investigation. If that happens...

I don't hear a law suit by him, so I have an opinion he can or will lead to the real culprit.

As I said in prior posts, CBS will not admit it is the DNC that gave them the documents. BUT watch and see what individuals(s) they begin to trash. Afraid of the DNC, CBS will get even with the messenger. Read between the lines on attacks. CBS MUST send a message to the supplier's of false documents or they will be victimized again. Other TV networks will join in.

The only surprise to me so far was Brit Hume last night who really went after CBS. Guess FOX is settling an old score.

The only reason I can think of that Rather is stonewalling is that the Kerry campaign is the source of the documents, as a good 'Rat Rather knows that Kerry's goose is cooked and Bush wins in a landslide of historic proportions if this gets out.

I hope you are right BUT, I doubt the FBI (Bush Administration) wants to be seen as using the FBI as a club against a candidate based on circumstantial evidence. Perhaps another reason CBS won't fess up that the documents are forgeries. Certainly, the FCC could fine CBS and its affiliates as well (ala Janet Jackson.) At any rate, I think the "invstigation", if any, will be NADA till after the election... after all, Clinton still has the White House dinnerware!

I disagree.

When the Sandy Berger "docs in socks" scandal began, FReepers tipped off the FBI that Kerry had on his website (and subsequently deleted) information that resembled the information that Berger was alleged to have pilfered.

The FBI had people over at Kerry HQ the next day.

They work quickly.

I think we should pound away with the idea that these forgeries were by the DNC and the Kerry Campaign. Continue to repeat the story until they are forced to deny it or prove it.
In other words, play the game the same way they do.

Although circumstantial, I would check the timing and content of the Dems, like Harkin, who immediately came out and used the documents to attack Bush. It was a coordinated effort, not only within the Dem Party, but also, with CBS. I would also check to see how USA Today came up with the documents independently.

I want to know the same thing. The American Spectator and Rush both said the documents came from someone in the Kerry campaign. How can we prove it?

Two points I find relevant (but not conclusive.)

- Dan Rather's daughter works for the Texas Democrats from where they produced Ken Barnes - whose own daughter called a liar. Perhaps Dan is falling on the sword to protect his daughter as the source.

- These forgeries a quite simply made to order. They echo all the lies that have been spewed since 2000. This would lead me to investigate the DNC.

The exact same misreferences to Air Force Manuals on flight medicals, appeared on the Kerry website in April, as appeared in the CBS Killian memos.

A commendable goal, but one unlikely to be accomplished by an outsider. I do opposition research, and, from experience, I can tell you that trying to find the source of something like this can drive you crazy. In due course, the forger is likely to be revealed, probably by someone on the periphery of the plot who gets scared or angry at the perpetrators on some other issue.

My hunch is that the origin of the documentation is not the Kerry campaign or the DNC but someone affiliated with them. They likely have a longstanding personal grudge against Bush, a weak grasp of military protocol and clerical practice, and less skill at forgery than they assumed. Since the producer on the story is based in Dallas, the primary source probably lives there or elsewhere in Texas, but with other people also involved. My guess is that Barnes is mixed up in it, but that the actual forger is someone else.

John Sasso was just hired by the Kerry campaign recently. When Sasso worked for the Dukakis campaign, Dukakis fired him for secretly passing out tapes to the media.
