lest you forget that Rudy Giuliani is also from NYC. I think he knows what it feels like to be an American, don't think we are all like those crazed protestors in the streets up here.

Even CT is in play as we discussed last night....that is no insignificant stat. If the election were today, W would rout Kerry.

Its more in play every day. I'm getting them one at a time. My neighbor, a democrat is running for state rep. He asked me for my vote and a donation and while he was here we decided he would vote for W. :-}

LOL, thats what Mathews thought but he wouldn't let Zell explain and Zell went off bigtime. The whole incident can be spun as an attack on Zell Miller by the left wing press for exercising his freedom of speech. The nervous nellies on here worried about how the MSM will portray this are nutty. I'm telling you Zell Miller connects with Joe and Jane Blue Collar.

No matter what your political persuasion, Chris Matthews gets on everybody's nerves. Zell Miller taking down Matthews is a good thing, and I wish I had gotten to see it!

On Foxlate night, Susan Estrich says the hiring of whatshisname and a few others by the Kerry campaign is merely 'beefing up' the campaign. Not a sign of desperation or coming apart at the seams, and besides, nobody got fired. I believe that last part. TerAYsa will continue to pay their salaries. They're just demoted to stuffing envelopes, which, by the way, the latest have Carville's name as the sender and the logo...Maybe I sent you the wrong picture last time...evidently his previous mailing had a pic of Kerry and Edwards arm in arm. The new mailing has a great shot of GW and Cheney. You're supposed to be scared to death that if you don't send in your widow's mite, these guys will be around for four more years. Please, God, let that be true.

You live in Indian a,for crying out loud...how the bloody hell do YOU know how Zell's speech will play in N.Y.C. and New England, and the West Coast?

I was born and bred in N.Y.C.;a member of an "old N.Y.C." family.I loved it,as did many of my family members.I live in New England, went to college in New England, have many friends in New England and I can assure you,my friends liked his speech!

The ONLY people on the West Coast, who I know, who probably didn't like it,are metrosexual wussies.

Many people, what used to be called THE SILENT MAJORITY,are so fed up with all the PC/touchy feely garbage, that this kind of purity, this strength,is a breath of fresh air;so heady,as to burst through the stench of the polluted, Orwellian double speak, that all of us have grown accustomed to.,from the Dems, pundits, and "political elitists".

Major Garrett just reported that President Bush's speech will offer new domestic proposals/topics that will generate a large buzz and much discussion.

Zell Miller gets up on his hind legs and calls a spade a spade

You are right. What Zell said tonight really needed to be said. There are major differences between the two parties on national defense, and it is crucial that they are pointed out.

The fact that we had a sitting Democrat Senator give this speach helps us tremendously. Cheney followed and looked like a moderate. Tomorrow night, W will look like an absolute saint.

Zell Miller did our country (and our party) a tremendous service tonight. He is a true patriot.

"do you think Zell will work to reshape the Dems towards a more middle course, or just fade into the background?"

I think Zell burned all bridges with the National Dem party tonight. That doesn't mean he will fade away though....he may become the populist voice of conscience for the Senate.

At the risk of being off the subject and sounding a little crazy or uneducated, I have been watching Joe Scarborough and Ron Reagan and is it just me or does Joe Scarborough look like John WAyne? I hope this is not a stupid question.

I agree with you. Somebody has a lot of control over him. He is not the same person he was when he was a congressman.

His comments this summer make me wonder what the real reason was he resigned in the middle of his term, that's for sure.

You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!

You bet zell is ANGRY, ANGRY as all get out, he has watched his party become a weak, special interest led group of PC girlie men, afraid to stand tall and provide for our defense as a nation and afraid that is we don't tread lightly other nations will (oh boo hoo) NOT LIKE US.

HE IS MAD THAT PEOPLE IN HIS PARTY

IN A TIME OF WAR

CALL THE UNITED STATES MILITARY

OCCUPIERS indstead of FREEDOM FIGHTERS!

HE IS FURIOUS.

AND HE IS STUNNED AT THE FREAK SHOW HIS PARTY HAS BECOME!

I loved his rigtheous anger.

Wish EVERY SINGLE American could have heard this speech.

AND EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN TALKING HEAD SHOULD BE STANDING UP AND SAYING.."THIS MAN IS VERY ANGRY AT THE WEAKNESS and ANTI-MILITARY stance his party has evolved into!

There is no reason to be on the defense regarding Zell...NON!

He took his own party to the woodshed and shredded the the umbrella they hide under, forcing onto the words of truth they have become used to ignoring.

The only people who are upset with Zell's speech are the MediaCrats and the Dems. Their anger is in direct proportion to the damage they believe it did. When did you ever see such vapors when a donkey gave a strongly critical speech. They all swoon and fan themselves and talk about how "united" the party is!

I'm so totally fed up with media bias right now. It's worse than even I have ever seen it.

I just saw a bit on Greta's show...I did not catch it all...but I think the dems got backed into a corner on firing staff members.

Susan Estrogen came out....with obvious words on behest of the DNC....saying that one of the other networks...Whoever greta worked for last...started a rumor that people were meeting tonight and planning on firing Kerry and DNC staff members.

It sounded like spin and cover...but then...its Susan..so it could just be her.

I can't help but think though...that since the story broke that the Dems were planning on canning people....that the dems realized how bad it made them look. (Makes them look like they are in full panic mode as a result of realizing that they are losing it)

So ...in an effort to not look so weak...they have to find some other way to deal with this...and not put in to action..their plan of firing people. And they send Susan out to carry their water.

That is my conspiracy theory for the night....

Either that...or they were gonna can Terry Mac as well...and Hillary stepped in to stop them so she could keep control.

Zell Miller didn't give a hate speech, he gave a speech of passion, love for a country that has defended freedom for decades, love for a military that liberates people, etc. etc. etc.

Yes, yes, yes!

That was passion!

The majority of the US population is in no mood to put up with radical left-wing protestors trashing our troops as they return. Unlike Viet Nam their success in Afghanistan and Iraq has a direct bearing on our survival and way of life. And with the Swift Boat ads reaching more of the citizens who have no prior knowledge of what happened to the servicemen when they returned, they (the general public) will not allow that treatment to be repeated this time.

They had to correct him on something to do with a person being born again and had to tell him it was Carter.

The guy doesn't know historical politics.
