There actually were Bolsheviks at the march yesterday. More properly, there were Bush supporters who dressed as Bolsheviks. They had put together some brilliant signs, illustrated in Soviet realist style, showing John Kerry wielding a worker's hammer, depicting Marx, Lenin, Engels and Kerry in heroic profile. The signs were emblazoned "Communists for Kerry," and "The next generation building communism for America."
"We're just spoofing," one of the men told me. They'd linked up on Free Republic, the ultra-right-wing Internet site and, well, when these people link up, stuff like "Communists for Kerry" is one of their more polite ideas. They slipped into the march and nobody seemed to notice, object or recognize that they weren't actually communists and weren't actually for Kerry. Many of the signs yesterday said, "Bush Lied," but when his supporters do it, it still works.

From: Un-American Activities in California COMFORT FOR THE ENEMY 1966 It soon became apparent that the efforts of the Anti-Vietnam demonstrations were of immense value to the enemy. To the hqs of the national coordinating committee for all anti-Vietnam was activities in the United States, at Madison, Wisconsin, came a telegram from the Nation Liberation Front (Viet Cong) in south Vietnam declaring that they had called for a "massive general strike" in South Vietnam to support the October demonstration in the United states. From Hanoi, North Vietnam, another telegram stated that the Nationl Student Union and the vietnam Youth Federation "firmly believe our joint efforts and world people's support will compel the U. S Government to stop" (it's war crimes). This telegram listed a long series of alleged war crimes in Vietnam. (daily californian Oct 15,1965) Here , indeed is solid proof of international Communist collaboration. This is just a snippet. YEAH IT WOULD BE FUNNY IF IT WEREN'T TRUE. Yet another example of an ignorant reporter.

This always gets me.. 'Free Republic' being 'ultra-right-wing' -- a shame these reporters never take a step back and realize just how far out on the left they are. Every time someone does a general survey, going over different issues from the parties, it shows time and time again that the reporters are so far beyond the horizon of the public as to be insane. And these reporters use their views as 'baseline' for public opinion.

So, let me get this right....they can have signs saying "F" Bush" , "Kill Bush" , and the like...And this guy gets his nose out of joint..because somebody has a sign that's for all intents and purposes...one of the most truthful out there? COMMIES FOR KERRY..!! LOL!!!
I suggest this sign..."Columnists for Kerry" then cross out the Columnists..and replace it with "Communists".

They slipped into the march and nobody seemed to notice, object or recognize that they weren't actually communists and weren't actually for Kerry.
Perhaps nobody seemed to notice because there WERE Marxists on the march and they were accepted as fellow travellers/commrades:

The imperialist rain dampened but couldn't destroy the educational tool of the masses - The People's Cube.
This Ultimate Egalitarian Puzzle teaches the people the correct attitude towards choice, competition, and collectivism, as well as improves self-esteem and provides hours of entertainment to the proletarians.
The advantages of The People's Cube are obvious:
NOBODY IS TOO FAST
NOBODY IS TOO SLOW
NOBODY IS TOO SMART
NOBODY IS TOO STUPID
EVERYBODY IS EQUALLY AVERAGE

"Good luck going to a pro-Bush rally and holding up a 'Communists for Bush' sign..."And THAT would be because at the Bush rally, there would be folks bright enough to realize that you were not in fact a Communist "For" Bush.
Those loons in NY, however, never realized they were being had.

This columnist skewered the "real" protestors in a big way, throughout the column. I think his comment about the Communists for Kerry was more of insult to the "real" protestors who, he noted, were too busy making pointless noise with whistles and yelling at billboards to "notice, object or recognize that they weren't actually communists and weren't actually for Kerry".

Thank you for the e-mail link, my friend. Just sent the following note to the "reporter."
Dear Mr. Roddy,
I just read your article, and an extended discussion of it. As a member of the press myself, I am always amused when someone totally misses the point. You did that even though you STATED the point in your article.
You noted that "no one noticed" when the Communists for Kerry "slipped into" the demonstration. Helloooo. THAT's the point. It's a satire. It's a joke, son.
And you DO know that the Communist Party still exists in the USA. They may be irrelevant, but they are still earnest. You might want to visit their official website. They offer "Ten Reasons not to vote for Bush." I think that is the equivalent of an endorsement of Kerry.
I went to school with Kerry. He was an arrogant, humorless, social-climbing twit at Yale. He hasn't changed much since -- a few more wrinkles, a few more dollars, that's about it. Such people, and their supporters, are best attacked with humor, as Mark Twain correctly observed.
Do you have a sense of humor? If you, put it in gear, and revisit your subject. You might write a follow-up story that is both more accurate and more amusing. Just a thought.
