Election: It's the Cat People vs. the Dog Lovers Written by Burt Prelutsky Sunday, August 15, 2004
All the pundits who are forecasting the November election, busily analyzing blue states, red states, and those all-important purple swing states, are spinning their wheels. At the risk of sounding even more presumptuous than usual, I contend that they are wasting their time and yours. If you want to know who's going to emerge victorious, all you really need to do is find out how many people have cats living with them and how many have dogs. The cat people, I have decided, will go overwhelmingly for Kerry; the dog lovers will do the same for Bush. It isn't simply that women, who often prefer felines to canines, tend to vote Democratic. It really goes to the nature of the animals........

He's just beautiful!
Here's a "greyt" website where I buy my Ibizan's their "martingale" collars:
http://greyhoundgoodies.com/
"All proceeds from the greyhoundgoodies.com web site and catalog are used to feed and care for the greyhounds awaiting adoption in our rescue kennel in New Hampshire."
They're *wonderful* people to deal with....:)
My cats would all vote for Badnarik.
Mine too!!! (three cats, no dogs)
"The cat people, I have decided, will go overwhelmingly for Kerry; the dog lovers will do the same for Bush."
This I rather doubt.
I'd say almost all cat-dog (mere pet) animal people tend to Kerry. Because most American pet people believe in "Anything Goes" w/animals, as well as being all for the liberal PETA-type attitudes (heavens you should look at an animal wrong), and that's usually the mindset of the liberal.
This is esp. true of dog people. Dogs more than cats NEED discipline, recognizing the pet's responsibility for itself - a conservative trait - and most people are averse to insisting their dogs behave well w/serious discipline & training (not the namby-pamby feel-good goofy stuff).
So I have a hard time saying dog people are more likely Bushies than cat, or even that any of them would prefer Bush!
Unless some1 does a real study on this.
And I'll say this again, as I'm sure at 300+ posts this has come up -
BOTH ANIMALS ARE GREAT ANIMALS.
(I get sick of dog people sniping on cats and cat people sniping on dogs. Isn't any1 out there versatile enough to love both?)
...the Man O'War vs Secretariat people
Man O'War - Bush
Secretariat - Kerry
(Yes, I swear it!)
Dogs will eat the a corpse of a dead owner too.
I tried the water pistol when I first got my cat as a kitten to get him to quit biting me. When I pointed it at his face he closed his eyes bracing himself for the squirt.
I like cats and dogs (but cats more!), and I vote Republican.
Lulabelle ping!
LOL!
Your Kitty is so cute....My little Zorro is my sunshine, he's very spoiled, he's demamanding wants love on his terms and he hates to be alone! whenever we are getting ready to leave and he sees suitcases by the door he starts to act-up becomes needy and of course I feel so guilty!
What a cute fur-baby!
LOL!
I'll agree if we're talking large dogs. Small dogs are really just cats in disguise, not really dogs at all. A German Shepard is a dog. A Yorky is really a vacuum attachment for cleaning the drapes.
[Your conclusion is fogged by emotion, proving you are a closet Democrat!
A cat is a born (conservative)Republican. It will survive! It needs no 'pack' to hunt with... it hunts alone and quite efficiently if I may add. It has no qualms about killing its prey.
Emotion is never a factor in this proccess... it is an instinct that lies close beneath a cats behaovioral surface... not embedded within eons of 'cultivated' genetic tampering.]
...........
Mercy! Just what everyone wants as a house pet or roaming unleashed around his neighborhood. And if that's the common perception of conservatives, no wonder we have a hard time getting our message heard.
I'm considering a new (vanity, would it be?) thread titled, "Reflections on recent, 'It's cat-lovers vs.dog-lovers' thread ". Lots of interesting philosophical/sociological data here & anyway I'm suffering from election news-overdose.
I have 8 cata and I'm voting for President Bush. One of my cats is named "G.W." too although in the beginning, it was for "Grey & White." B-)
