This contradicts the account of another swiftboat vet I heard today who says Kerry dug up "an obscure regulation" about being sent home after three Purple Hearts himself. Which would explain why he was so determined to get them awarded for self-inflicted splinters and rice wounds in the butt.

I thought he "asked to leave"-- not that "he was asked to leave."
I think this guy has got it all wrong.

I wonder what Teraaayza has to say about the Swift Boat ad. I guess I hear a collective, "Shove it", coming to the Swift Boat guys!

It was a little of each. Kerry was trying to get out, and they wanted him out because he was always complaining and .....

I believe this article is a key reason behind Kerry's refusal to allow release of his military records. He is hiding the truth of his premature Viet Nam departure and the details of his actions resulting in his medals.

If LeJean was asked to leave, it can explain his rapid change from gung-ho Navy man to crusading anti-war protestor. It can also explain how he became so eager to malign the war, the servicemen, and the country itself.

Well, then, I think it's time for clarification...
"So senator, were you pushed out by your 'band of brothers', or did you just use an obscure rule to abandon them?"
What? Too harsh?

Yep, either Kerry planned the 3x and you're out of there or these guys hipped him to it....it can't be both.

All accounts I've read have Kerry being anti-war prior to going in.

"...John Kerry who "defended this nation" as a soldier in Vietnam..
As a member of the Swift Boat group, JFrekn'Kerry was NOT a soldier (come to think of it he wasn't much of a sailor either)

This story certainly is believable, especially when you look at his behavior today. He blamed other things and people back then for his faults and he is doing the same thing now (remember the snowboard fall).

It doesn't contradict it directly since I doubt the commander made it public knowledge that Kerry was forced out. Consider it the "you're fired, no I quit" situation and the boss is magnanimous and lets you say you quit. But later on down the road, when the stakes are high the boss has enough of the lie and tells the truth. Meanwhile, the coworkers don't know the inside scoop. If you read Adm. Hoffman's remarks about the explosion incident, Kerry's was the only boat that bugged out instead of rendering aid to the damaged 3 boat. I suspect THAT was the straw that broke Wright's back.

No one picked up on that, or I blew a fuse and didn't really hear it.

Not necessarily a contradiction about the 3 purple heart rule. The man in this story doesn't say how he came to know about the rule....after all he was fairly young himself. They might well have found out through Kerry or through someone Kerry told.
When he got his third purple heart, that evening, and we didn't particularly care what it was for, we knew that he had three. That evening, I and two other people went in and told him that we felt that he should go home. It was something that he could do ... He told us that he didn't want that, it was his intention to serve his country, and the next morning he was gone. And we were happy and didn't worry about it.
