I thought he "asked to leave"-- not that "he was asked to leave."
I think this guy has got it all wrong.
It was a little of each. Kerry was trying to get out, and they wanted him out because he was always complaining and .....
Well, then, I think it's time for clarification...
"So senator, were you pushed out by your 'band of brothers', or did you just use an obscure rule to abandon them?"
What? Too harsh?

Yep, either Kerry planned the 3x and you're out of there or these guys hipped him to it....it can't be both.
I don't know. I heard this bit a while back. I also heard he got poor reviews.
Did Kerry get these Purple Hearts so he could leave before he was thrown out? That would make even more sense.
It could be that both accounts are true. His commander obviously complained to his commander and asked them to do something about Kerry. Then he told Kerry to ask to go home. Kerry gets up on his hind legs, wanting as always to have it both ways, and says, Oh, but I want to serve my country. (This will look good in the papers when I run for congress immediately on my return.). Then Kerry quietly puts in a request to go home. Everybody's right.
