Same-Sex 'Marriage' Issue: Senators on the High Priority Contact List

As the Senate prepares to vote on an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to protect marriage, it is vital that all pro-family Americans contact their Senators in support of this necessary amendment.

Below is a list of Senators that Family Research Council has deemed to be the highest priority. If your Senator is listed, please contact him or her immediately and tell them to cast a vote in support of traditional marriage during the week of July 12th.

That is exactly what the amendment does, and the only way to do it.

I called Nighthorse Campbell's office and they said he wanted to wait to decide until the debate is over. Doesn't sound too promising.

I'm curious......

Can the Supreme Court declare a Constitutional Amendment to be "Unconstitutional"????

Maybe that's the next big step in the evolution of the Supreme Court.......

Also here is a email I just received from Bill Frist:

On Friday, the Senate began debating a constitutional amendment to protect marriage as the union of a man and a woman. I expect we'll have a vote on Wednesday morning.

Many Americans are surprised that we need to have this debate at all. Over and against 5,000 years of recorded human experience, activist judges in Massachusetts have overturned marriage as a covenant between husband and wife. And liberal and conservative legal scholars agree that unless the Congress acts to protect marriage, same-sex marriage will be extended nationwide.

Children do best with mothers and fathers. We're fooling ourselves if we think children will be held harmless by destroying marriage as the union of a husband and a wife. Marriage and family are the bedrock of society.

The question is no longer whether the Constitution will be amended. The question is only how it will be amended and by whom -- activist judges or the people.

My vote is with the people.

I think it means your Senator is not up for re-election this year.

BTT. Once again I have written and called my senators and once again they have assured me that they will not vote the way I would like. Such is life in New England.

Rick Santorum reports there are more contacts coming in against, than for!

With 80% of the public against unnatural weddings, how could this be? Something smells.

"Instead, Congress should declare it an area out of the jurisdiction of the courts."

I still don't buy this unilaterally declaring an issue outside the jurisdiction of the courts. It sounds bogus. This would completely destroy the checks and balances between the three branches of government.

The ammendment is not near a vote. The vote to decide if there will be a vote is near a vote. Sheesh.

I oppose this abuse of the ammendment process.

A vote for the FMA puts this in the hands of the states.

Olympia Snow comes from a Greek Orthodox background. It is hard to believe, even if a RINO, she fails to understand this.

Kerry and Edwards are BOTH lawyers, they understand the process.

The passage of the FMA is a decision of who keeps the power. Do these senators want to sceed power to the judicial or keep the debate in the legislative?

Those senators who are lawyers and vote against this are either being blackmailed, pro-homosexual/homosexual, or just plain liberal-hate-marriage.

The democrats have turned to political tables and are now in control because there is not enough votes (60) to break a filibuster.

Republicans have been out manuvered procedurally, again.

First needs to get over this country club BS. The Senate is now a blood sport.

Actually Congress has the power to set the jurisdiction of the Court. It has been rarely used.

BTTT !!! Passing it on... CALL NOW... tell them to vote for cloture whether they support the ammendment or not... that way they have to go on RECORD against it or for it... if we don't pass the cloture vote than they can get away with playing middle of the road on the issue..

David
