Did you know......?
If you were born in July, your birthstone would be the Ruby. Ruby comes from the Latin word rubber meaning more red. Rubies comes in a many shades of red, it depends on the chromium and iron content of the stone. It is the second hardest mineral known to exist, diamond is the first.
Legends & Lore:
Ruby is known as the love stone; it is given to open the heart, reconcile lovers quarrels, express passion and promise love. It is believed to stop hemorrhaging and inflammatory disorders. Ruby is the gemstone for Wisconsin.
If worn on the left hand or as a brooch on the left side the wearer would live peacefully with his enemies.
An ancient verse:
"The gleaming ruby should adorn, All those who in July are born. For thus theyll be exempt and free, From lovers doubts and anxiety".

Flower for July
Larkspur is the common name for flowering plants in the buttercup family. Colors range from a pale pink to deep purple. There is a white variety as well. Larkspur can attain heights up to 7 feet. In the past, the name larkspur has been used interchangeably with the name delphinium; however, they are now considered to be separate genus's; the larkspur is annual while the delphinium is perennial.
The name larkspur comes the belief that the flowers looks like a lark's foot: larkspur, lark's heel and lark's claw have all been used.
The color for July is pink and means open heart, pink in particular means fickleness and talkativeness.

But enough about jewels ... can't eat them! And flowers, though some are edible, simply cannot compare to ICE CREAM!, and I think I hear the distant sound of the ice cream truck....

Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

No Greater Love
Read: 1 John 4:7-11
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1 John 4:10
Bible In One Year: Psalms 7-9; Acts 18
On our family-room wall, in a small shadowbox, hangs atreasurethat belongs to my wife Carolyn. Oh, we have things more intrinsically valuable on the walls of our home a handmade quilt from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Kentucky, antique mirrors, oil paintings, and a magnificent dulcimer from an artisan in the back-country of Idaho.
Carolyns treasure, though, is far more valuable to her than any other possession, for it contains a gift from our granddaughter Julia. It was a present to herNanaon Valentines Day several years ago when Julia was only 6 years old a small, red, clay heart. Inscribed on it in childish scrawl are the words I Luv U."
The little heart is crudely made, ragged on the edges, and bears a number of thumbprints and smudges, but Carolyn has enshrined it in a frame made especially for that heart. Each day it reminds her of Julias love.
Is Gods love more valuable to you than silver or gold or any other possession? He sent His only begotten Son into the world, that [you] might live through Him(1 John 4:9). He did that because He loves you, not because you loved Him. And because of His love, one day you will be with Him in heaven. There is no greater love! David Roper
Love sent my Savior to die in my stead,
Why should He love me so?
Meekly to Calvarys cross He was led,
Why should He love me so? Harkness
Gods eternal love is the source of our eternal life.

Oh Ice Cream! My favorite food. I was going to post this on Amy's thread, but it would be nicer here. We made this for the 4th of July and it was the best homemade ice cream we ever ate. It was fabulous and the whole neighborhood wanted the recipe. Enjoy!
Cream Cheese Ice Cream
5 cups half-and-hald or light cream
2 1/2 cups sugar
4 beaten eggs (well beaten or you'll end up with scrambled eggs in your mixture).
3 8-oz. pkg cream cheese
1 tsp finely shredded lemon peel
2 Tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp vanilla
Fresh Blueberries, peaches or dark cherries
In a large saucepan combine 3 cups of the half-and-half or light cream, the sugar, and eggs. Cook and stir over medium heat just till boiling. In a large mixing bowl beat cream cheese with an electric mixer till smooth; gradually beat in hot mixture. Cover and chill thoroughly. Stir in remaining half-and-half, lemon peel, lemon juice, and vanilla. Freeze in a 4 or 5 quart ice cream freezer according to the directions. Ripen 4 hours. Garnish each serving with choice of fresh fruit if desired. Makes about 3 quarts. (We used our freshly picked blueberries).

This looks good, I love any dessert with cream cheese in it. I'm printing this out and will give it a try.
Saw the good news on yesterday's thread about your nephew becoming a Marine! Know your family must be proud of him.

Just a joke
During mail call one evening at Marine Corps boot camp, I received several letters from home. The drill instructor was getting irritated at having to keep calling my name. "You must have a lot of people at home who like you, huh?" he barked.
"Sir, no, sir!" I shouted.
"Oh, so you're calling me a liar?" goaded the DI.
Trained as a Marine to think quickly on my feet, I yelled out, "Sir, creditors, sir!"
The DI had to leave the room so we wouldn't see him laughing.
