In the spirit of our successful "Rally for America" in '03 and as FReepers and patriotic Americans, it's time to once again to hit the streets as a national force to stand up for what is right and take action against the juggernaut of lies, evasions and mistruths perpetrated by the liberal media who want to see the War on Terror fail!
September 11, 2004
has been designated by the Free Republic Network and associated FR Chapters as the date for the
National March Against Terror
To date, national sponsors for this event include;
What is the NMAT?
The National March Against Terror event is a nationwide demonstration of the American people's commitment to win the war on terrorism, support for our troops, and pay homage to the victims of terror. All participants are volunteering their time, energy, and resources to make this event possible.
Who is running this event?
The National March Against Terror event is being run by the NMAT Lead Sponsors. These sponsors are volunteering their time, energy, and resources to help structure the March as a national event. As of this writing, the FIT-AIM-ACT Campaign is offering its advisory services through its coalition task force committees, SAFE Foundation is organizing NMAT's fundraising and promotional activities through its 'National March Against Terror' program, Free Republic Network is organizing and coordinating the literal-side of the March, i.e., marches, rallies, vigils, and other public events through its national online network, and GiveSupport International is maintaining the NMAT web site and all related trade names, slogans, logos, service marks, and copyrights.
Is NMAT a non partisan event?
Yes. The National March Against Terror event involves Americans of every political background. It is not sponsored or endorsed by any one group or party. Every American can participate in his or her own way. Each year, the March may or may not be held on September 11th, but it will support the National Day of Vigilance and the war on terrorism every year until the war is won.
Why have a National Day of Vigilance?
The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 changed America forever, and we the American people must never forget our responsibility of protecting our homeland. By having a national day of rededication to year round vigilance against terrorism, we hope that America will never again be caught off guard by those who seek our destruction. It is our belief that such vigilance will ultimately save lives at home and abroad.
Do you hope to make NDOV a National Holiday?
If the Congress and/or the President decide to designate September 11th or some other day as 'National Day of Vigilance', we would be happy to see that happen. However, it would be our desire that NDOV not be made into another holiday for family barbecues and picnics. Instead, it should be a national day for every American to reinforce their personal vigilance against terrorism. Until the war on terror is won, our hope is that the National Day of Vigilance be used to help America stay on a war-footing in support of our troops and to encourage the highest level of vigilance at home.
This event is just now being announced and many other Major sponsors and co-sponsors will be coming on board soon! What can you do to help make this event as or more successful than our "Rally for America"?
Organize or attend a rally in your city or neighborhood!
Get your friends, relatives and neighbors to take part!
Contact your local/state politicians and local active duty/veterans and ask them to support, attend or speak at a local NMAT event!
Contact your local television and radio stations and let them know about the NMAT!
Sign the "National Day of Vigilance" Resolution!
You got FReepmail!
BTTT!! Hope there's one in my area. If I'm not on bed rest I'll try to go! The kids and I always bake cookies for the local police station and fire stations and deliver with thank you cards on Sept 11. I'm sure we can do both! :o)
...AND, organize or attend a NMAT event! Heheh...
Be careful how you want to promote this...as of now, it appears to be two different events and can be confusing. Either NMAT or NDOV should take the lead with the other being a back up solution for those who can't participate in the first...if that made sense.
bttt
Agreed. The NDOV is an ongoing perennial event while this year we are observing it with the NMAT. Check with Ted and Paul on this, technically it's their baby.
Bob, please don't ever use the letters "VC" when referring to VetsCoR...bad connotation for Viet Nam era Vets. VCR is fine for short.
VCR it is.
Thanks- I'll send a link to everybody I know.
