HIGH-FIVING IN THE NEWSROOM [Tim Graham] The Washington Post touts its latest poll showing that President Bush's approval rating in the war on terror has collapsed since...the Abu Ghraib obsession. Here's my first question: do the people surveyed have any idea what John Kerry would do to protect us better? The pattern of the press all year has been pound Bush, and leave Kerry alone. The pattern of the press all year has seemed to designed to do exactly this: erase Bush's polling advantage on national security. When will it be time to put Kerry in the hot seat? Or does that have to wait until after the election? Posted at 07:10 AM

The American Liberal press has taken over the function that, in World War II, used to be performed by Joseph Goebbels'
Reichspropagandaministerium.:
Namely, to present the American war effort in the worst posible light and thereby attempt to demoralize the American Home Front while energizing America's enemy.

Here's my first question: do the people surveyed have any idea what John Kerry would do to protect us better? That's a good question, but you're making an assumption that everyone that doesn't like the WOT progress won't vote for Bush. Take a look around this forum--have you noticed that the 'Nuke 'Em!' crowd is out if force (again)? Every problem is best solved with a thermo-nuclear device of some sort (the bigger the better). How do you think they'd answer the question, "Are you pleased with Bush's performance on the WOT?" They'd probably answer 'no', but that doesn't mean they aren't going to vote for Bush.

Why respond to Goebbels type propaganda. The Washington comPost proves only that Pravda type media is here in the US.

You may be on to something here. I believe everyone is frustrated with the progress in Iraq but that doesn't mean we're ready to throw Bush off the sled.

Brit Hume exposed the ridiculous nature of this "poll" tonight. He mentioned three questions:
1. Who do you trust to do a better job handling THE US CAMPAIGN AGAINST TERRORISM, George W. Bush or John Kerry?
Bush 47%
Kerry 48%
2. Do you think John Kerry does or does not have a clear plan for: handling terrorism?
Does 42%
Does not 53%
3. Please tell me whether the following statement applies more to George W. Bush or more to John Kerry: He will make the country safer and more secure.
Bush 54%
Kerry 40%
Now, I ask you: Just how reliable is this poll?
And yet, what was the headline on the Washington Post story?:
Bush Loses Advantage in War on Terrorism

Liberals live, and die, by the polls.
I agree that the Abu prison incident was a very stupid thing to do...then, I see pictures of Berg and Johnson with their heads separated from their bodies...and I think, "I'd rather been stacked up naked, and be decapitated". The bunch in the naked pyramid were not jaywalkers...they were in there for good reason. Berg and Johnson were killed for insignificant reasons, i.e. being Jewish, or, having a job working on helicopters.
I was watching a documentary on History channel the other night and they showed where the U.S. captured a Nazi submarine in WWII. They rescued the Nazi soldiers before the sub sank; they proceeded to strip the Nazis down, and put them on a platform on the side of the ship, and hose them down.
Now, admittedly, that was for hygiene, but if that had happened in today's world - with the liberal press' obsession with sex and perversion, it would have been made into the same thing as Abu.
I like to believe that most of the people who are supporting Bush do not hold him accountable for Abu. These were a few adolescent soldiers, doing something they knew was wrong, but did it anyway because no one was looking...just like kids. Their trials are being played out in the press, and of course, the lawyers - who are probably democrats - are going to try and shove it up the line to Bush.
I believe that anyone who was going to vote for Bush anyway, has not been swayed by this obvious witch hunt. The recognize it for what it is, and we should borrow a well-known phrase from the late, great, President Reagan..."...there you go again..."

"Every problem is best solved with a thermo-nuclear device of some sort (the bigger the better)."
I like to think of that line in "The Untouchables", when Sean Connery said, "...they bring a knife, YOU bring a gun...".
The Taliban is not unlike the mob, insofar that ALL they will EVER understand is strength and power. They are programmed from birth to hate us, and that dying in the name of Islam is an honor. They are not going to negotiate with any honesty and integrity, and we can't spend forever holding a gun to their heads, and/or babysitting them.
They need a major attitude adjustment, and no UN peacekeeping mission is going to accomplish that, especially with the chicanery going on at the U.N.
Nukes might be a bit harsh, and start events we don't really want, but I think we have enough conventional power to make a really good impression...but what we need is a Lame Duck President who doesn't have to worry about polls....hummmmmmm, wonder where we could get such a guy? (hint...hint...hint...)
