That's a good question, but you're making an assumption that everyone that doesn't like the WOT progress won't vote for Bush. Take a look around this forum--have you noticed that the 'Nuke 'Em!' crowd is out if force (again)? Every problem is best solved with a thermo-nuclear device of some sort (the bigger the better). How do you think they'd answer the question, "Are you pleased with Bush's performance on the WOT?" They'd probably answer 'no', but that doesn't mean they aren't going to vote for Bush.

You may be on to something here. I believe everyone is frustrated with the progress in Iraq but that doesn't mean we're ready to throw Bush off the sled.

I like to think of that line in "The Untouchables", when Sean Connery said, "...they bring a knife, YOU bring a gun...".

The Taliban is not unlike the mob, insofar that ALL they will EVER understand is strength and power. They are programmed from birth to hate us, and that dying in the name of Islam is an honor. They are not going to negotiate with any honesty and integrity, and we can't spend forever holding a gun to their heads, and/or babysitting them.

They need a major attitude adjustment, and no UN peacekeeping mission is going to accomplish that, especially with the chicanery going on at the U.N.

Nukes might be a bit harsh, and start events we don't really want, but I think we have enough conventional power to make a really good impression...but what we need is a Lame Duck President who doesn't have to worry about polls....hummmmmmm, wonder where we could get such a guy? (hint...hint...hint...)
