Mister Gorbachev has grandchildren. He tried to get all he could out of the inevitable, and we ought not fault him for his love of Russia. He was reagan's partner in changing the world. Give the man his due (and his wife, BTW! She was an active member in the meetings of the two couples, as Nancy worked on her and President Reagan work on Gorbachev.) I, for one American, will honor Mister Gorbachev when he passes. Truly, he caught the Reagan vision and took it forward. We are all better off for the work of these Grandfathers.

Recall that Gorbachev came on the scene as someone who wanted to "reform" the Soviet system.

From his perspective Ronald Reagan was the best thing that ever happened to him ~ an American President who would speak out on behalf of "reform" ~ the kind he had in mind, or another type ~ it really didn't matter.

Although Gorbachev is probably not going to go down in history as the greatest benefactor the Russian people and the Captive Nations ever had, he will be recalled as the man who facilitated Ronald Reagan in his campaign to end the Cold War and bring democracy to the East.

Gorby is not going to die as a bitter old man. He lost the contest and he is making the most of it. He wants a lot of people at his own funeral.

I would challenge your premise. He didn't "lose the contest." He won, with Ronald Reagan's help. So did all the victims of the Soviet System. I don't care what NPR says, WE won the cold war. That "we" includes all the free people of the Earth as opposed to the forces of evil in the world.

Poor Gorby looks like he's hurting as bad as I am. Reagan touched so many lives with his wonderful strength and humor. His life is such a wonderful story. Their generation just has so much class.

Pray for W and Our Troops

"That's the whole article?"

FoxNews just cut into "Your World" and showed Gorby stand at attention for a minute then reach over and touch the foot end of the coffin his lips moving as he said a few words to RWR, then he nodded and walked away...complete silence.

Fine. One should note that he has been actively campaigning for global socialism, and more UN authority, since leaving his post in Russia. Funny that I do not recall anything from Gorby during the past year or two, but I do remember his active global environmentalism as late as 2001. In other words, he is about as liberal as Al Gore or Kerry.

I doubt he could be that liberal.
