Information you should know......
Just now on MSNBC, Lawrence O'Donnell was relating the following anecdote: A few months ago, he had to visit the offices of the Screen Actors Guild in order to fill out some paperwork. The place is covered in photos of past presidents of the union, and some even had statues of themselves.
Except for Ronald Reagan. O'Donnell said he went all over the building and could find no sign that Ronald Reagan ever even existed. He was disgusted and amazed by it, especially since Reagan is the only president of a union to become President of the United States. They have made Reagan a non-person, just like in the old Soviet Union.

I'm really glad you posted this as a separate thread.
I heard O'Donnell say this.
It's shocking.

Outrageous and unforgiveable. I've never heard of anything so classless and petty.

Sheesh. This is unbelievable. Why doesn't Hollywood just move to France? except for Mel Gibson. He can stay and make the new Hollywood.

If you care to ask the Screen Actors Guild why this is *grin*: Answer: Because they are liberals and liberals do not respect people who have done great things for the U.S of A. , they only respect those who do the most damage.

The SAG office on Wilshire? Did they ever have pictures of Reagan up? I'll check it out tomorrow!
To: Dont Mention the War
They don't like anyone who is anti communist of course.

SAG/AFTRA spokesmen:How dare you criticize this grand labor union?(!) Why, we consistently keep a good 15% of our members employed. That's right, and it's for a whole six whole months too, not like those other sad-sack entertainment locals. Why, I should sick Melissa Gilbert on your ass! You don't want "Little House on the Prairie" to be doggin' you, believe me. I learned that life lesson the hard way.

Reminds me of a conversation I had with a Mexican. I said that they shouls set a statue of Cortez before their Congress just as the English have a statue beside their Houses of Parliament--as a warning. He didn't get it. Irony must be an English thing.

Perfect example of what they espouse - decisions made by the few for the many, denial of any that do not conform to what they want promoted.

What's also shocking is that O'Donnell is shocked and disgusted. He's a pretty hard leftie.
To: Dont Mention the War
What is even more amazing is that in his last term as SAG President in 1960 or so he led a strike to help SAG members get residuals from their movies.
Before 1960 the studios did not pay residuals to actors, writers, etc..
Reagan led the way and negotiated this land mark deal, he even, to avoid any charges of impropriety, exempted himself so that any future films, etc. he might do, he would not be getting any residuals for them.
What a slap in the face for a guy who has made a lot of actors, writers, etc. a lot more money over the years.
To: ladyinred
Well, I'm sure they've erected a nice monument honoring Ed Asner's contribution to the fight against the 'Red Menace.'

How dare you criticize this grand labor union?I'd feel bad if it were a legitimate labor union, when in reality, it's closer to the communist party.

Maybe, just maybe, President Reagan wouldn't have wanted his image tarnished by having it associated with such a despicable organization.
