What is even more amazing is that in his last term as SAG President in 1960 or so he led a strike to help SAG members get residuals from their movies.
Before 1960 the studios did not pay residuals to actors, writers, etc..
Reagan led the way and negotiated this land mark deal, he even, to avoid any charges of impropriety, exempted himself so that any future films, etc. he might do, he would not be getting any residuals for them.
What a slap in the face for a guy who has made a lot of actors, writers, etc. a lot more money over the years.

These facts are very interesting. Great info to arm myself with, when I resign from the Guild.
Yes, I have been a member since 1978, and since it was such a difficult and expensive membership to attain, I've always just kept up my dues, thinking that having the membership would pay off SOMEday--better than letting it lapse and needing it in the future.
This thread has made my decision FOR me.
It started with Melissa (Natasha) and Mike (Borris) taking over the office, and now THIS!
My name will be skillfully and noticibly removed from their list.

Residuals made all of them rich in the post-video era. I can imagine he was criticized for taking such a strong stance when residuals weren't such a big deal anyway. They ought to have a Church of Ronald Reagan out there.
