Good versus Evil. Get used to it.

Posted on 05/11/2004 4:55:45 PM PDT by Pukin Dog

I just watched the Nick Berg decapitation video. I watched it three times. I downloaded it, and I intend to watch it again and again and again. I am going to watch it until I am sure that I will never again forget the difference between Good and Evil. Now I am going to run my mouth and hope it does some good.

I have been meaning to write a post regarding the Iraqi Prisoner abuse scandal, and its relationship to the earlier LTC West issue, where I was in the extreme minority who felt that West should have been prosecuted and thrown out of the Army. Now, today’s video, I feel compelled to address these issues with you good folks. Recently I had the opportunity to talk to a couple of WWII veterans about their war and ours, and the differences in the US from then to now.

I got the sense that people from that earlier generation feel that they saved us and failed us at the same time. They saved us by winning the war, but they failed us in allowing us to forget why they were willing to fight and die for you and me in such numbers. They talked about signing up for the Army the day after Pearl Harbor, how there was no doubt in their minds about what they were doing, no one questioning the rightness of their cause or suggesting that the US deserved what happened to us that day.

On a trip from San Diego to Washington, I stopped at the Air Museum in Tillamook OR. Do yourself a favor and visit the place if you ever are in the area. It is inside a huge Blimp Hanger where Blimps were stored between missions patrolling the Pacific Coast during the early days of WWII. It is next to an airfield where an F-14 that was donated to the museum blew a tire trying to stop on their 500 ft runway. They made it. Inside that museum, there are aircraft and other displays that do a very good job reminding visitors of the sacrifices made by those who came before us.

I felt a bit of shame that at the time I was on my way to Everett WA to learn about the Boeing 777, instead of back in the Navy flying the Tomcat in defense of my country. There are displays of former aviators who lost their lives, their ribbons laid out next to their uniforms, with their pictures on the walls. Men who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that you and I could sit back tonight and argue whether Shack or Kobe can come back against the Spurs, as if that was all we needed to be concerned about tonight.

Today, instead of enjoying my time off, I am filled with rage about what was done to that civilian by those bastard in sheets so brave they could not show their faces while they cut, no they SAWED that young mans head off while he screamed in agony. More so, I am outraged by the performance of the popular media. I am without Fox News in my hotel room tonight, so I have been forced to watch CNN tell me over and over that Taguba said that the Prisoner Scandal was a “failure of leadership” and cut the tape before Taguba can be shown saying “from the Brigadier General on down”, in a blatant attempt to spin what the man said to appear to be an indictment of the Bush administration. I have drawn my conclusion: CNN is Evil.

I watched as much of today’s hearings as CNN would show where it appeared that they would cut away whenever a positive point was being made. I watched Senator Byrd and the other Democrats poke and poke and poke, looking for anything that would fuel anger against President Bush, in clear disregard of what the witnesses said. Senate Democrats are Evil. I can’t help but be reminded that there are people in this country who actively support these Senators. They vote for them over and over again. In my book, Ted Kennedy is a murderer, yet he sits there passing judgment on others as though he was saintly against a President he considers to be beneath him. Teddy Kennedy is Evil personified. I see the Democrats and Media passing judgment on our President and I think of what they might be saying were this May of 1942, instead of 2004. Does anyone doubt that they would be actively working against our men fighting WWII?

These are sick people. SICK. The fact that they hold office means that at least 40% of this country is made up of either sick or stupid people. I did not risk my life for 22 years in the Navy defending these people, but the rest of the nation that keeps them at bay. I hope I was defending those who can disagree with the strategy and actions of our President, yet respect his integrity and honesty. Nothing bothers me more than to link to Free Republic and see a gathering of so-called Conservatives bashing our President because they have some disagreement with his actions. There is never any context or perspective, just attack. We don’t consider the enormous responsibilities of his office, when the most important thing some of us have to do each day is let out the cat. Why can’t we disagree without disrespect?

The hardest decision I will make today will be where I eat dinner. I won’t come online to attack people who are tasked with saving my life from terrorism, no matter how much I may disagree with a tactic or idea. Call me Bush-bot, say I drank the Kool-aid, say whatever, but don’t assume that while you sit there with a coke and a smile, that you know what its like to be someone in the Bush Administration responsible for your American ass, before you rush off to participate in some Web poll because you cant stand it if that poll disagrees with you to the point where you don’t mind making money the site that produced the poll you so desperately want to lean your way. Even if that site is CNN or MSNBC, whose mission is to take away your independence. WTF are you doing?

Folks it is our turn. If America is to remain true to the nation that those who went before us wanted it to be, we will never forget what those on the other side of the aisle are trying to do to us. I remember not too long ago, under a Democrat president, when I did not know if my squadron was going to be allotted the fuel and maintenance money necessary to keep our pilots skills up to par. Flight hours were cut and cut again, while Bill Clinton was trying to find ways to give more of your money to PBS and the NEA so that they could respectively lie and offend us. There are Democrats in Congress who think we landed on Mars, who can’t get a credit card, who have never had a private sector job, who take great pride in taking your money and giving it to some loser who couldn’t spell cat if you spotted them the C and the T. That is their constituency. They are EVIL.

I have no doubt that Bush is going to win in November. I know that that opinion is not shared among all of us, but I don’t know why not, when it is up to us to make it happen. If Bush does NOT win, it will be our fault, because we will have decided that what is going on right now against us is acceptable. We will have decided that our opponents on the left are just well-meaning people who just disagree with us on the issues, instead of the evil bastards they happen to be. I don’t know if every evil person knows themselves to be evil, and I don’t care. All I know is that while Americans are roasted, and hung on bridges like overcooked brisket, and soldiers are shot at from places of worship, and a civilian’s head swinging from the fist of a coward in a mask, CNN, the DNC and liberals all over the world are trying to blame my President for everything wrong in the world, instead of the evil perpetrators committing these actions.

At the same time, we give ratings to Chris Matthews, watch CNN’s commercials, listen to Don Imus, stay up for Nightline, and wish Joe Scarborough success as he forgets where he came from, so he can serve his liberal masters and keep his job. This is the last night I stay in a hotel that does not have FoxNews available. I may be crazy, but I don’t want to pay to be propagandized. I don’t want to hear anymore about how scandalous it is to embarrass an Iraqi terrorist, when these networks won’t even show these terrorists killing one of our people. We are at war with the Democrats and the Media, and if we are to save ourselves from their goals, we must hurt them where they will feel it. Just don’t watch. Don’t listen, and for god’s sake DON’T POLL. Make the bastards earn their money by become fair and balanced.

I’ve got a lot more to say, but my fingers hurt. If I offended you, just wait, because I’ll be back with more. If you get a chance, watch the video. It will hurt and disgust you, but it will remind you of what we are up against.

Aren't you Texans fond of saying...."Some folks need killin"?

Well, it appears there are a whole lot of lunatic Islamics that won't behave until we given them what they want ---- death..

They claim they want to die, and I'll admit I'd love to kill em...and I haven't wanted to kill anything for about 40 years.....But, I'm cured now.

I am done with being nice.
MY G_D, what took you so long? You carry some weight here Miss Marple, and you know you do, so I don't want to sound like a jerk, a bully or an ass, believe me, but you've been as much an ostrich with it's head in the sand as any number of others. I almost feel embarrassed for you for being able to make such a declaration only after today's events. What more is it going to take to get more to take a POV like yours?
Why does it take so long and why does it take something so drastic to get Americans to change their minds about all of this.
There have been people trying for years to get the people here at FR to wake up and smell the roses and you're just now deciding that you're done with being nice?

The following was done in sadness...I'm too afraid of what I'd write in my anger, which is only just now starting...
While we sat, safe in our homes, and argued back and forth a myriad of beliefs, opinions and concerns, a man was held captive by Islamic terrorists.
While we sat, safe in our homes, and argued back and forth a myriad of beliefs, opinions and concerns, a man had no knowledge of what was going on in the outside world.
While we sat, safe in our homes, and argued back and forth a myriad of beliefs, opinions and concerns, a man was brutally murdered, unbeknownst to us all.
How many of us, in retrospect, would concede to the actions taken against the "detainees" if just one of them could've given the location where that young man was being held at to prevent his murder?
Today is another day that will live in infamy.

Long Cut, since I see you're on this thread...the underlined section is FOR YOU!

BRAVO!!! As horrific as Berg's beheading was, it was an incomprehensible PR error by our enemies. It will NEUTER the leftist propaganda about the prisoner "torture." Torture my ASS! Rush was ABSOLUTELY correct: this stuff goes on in U.S. fraternities/social clubs/sports teams ALL the time. Just do a google search or search any newspaper or search website. It was WRONG and isn't defensible but it is NOT torture. Torture is having your HEAD SLOWLY SAWED OFF. This should be required viewing of every American. If we don't stop them over there, they will AGAIN be attacking us on our own soil. Email the beheading pictures to every news media outlet you know of. Shame them.

Honorable sir,
I wish to clarify that my criticism of the President has nothing to do with the vile attacks rained on him by traitors who wish our country harm (rhymes with Democrats). I’m critical because the sacrifices you and your buddies made are demeaned by inaction when action is called for. While my service was in peacetime I trained as hard as possible because the knowledge of what you and yours went through constantly hounded me. Too many have given too much over this nation’s history for the likes of Ted Kennedy to get away with promoting a man unfit to lace up your boots.

Don’t despair! This conflict has shown that the latest generation of warriors has what it takes and then some. The lack of news of their exploits is due to a gutless and lazy press corps. Those who would report accurately rightfully fear that they will be unemployed if they tell the real story. Right now all things are shaped by the impending election. Hopefully we’ll see President Bush’s reelection chase the monsters back to their lairs to await their final dispatch.

Thank you for this post. You are so right and so articulate. I also thank you for your dedicated service to our great country.

I forced myself to watch the video of that boy being murdered for the very reasons you state. I almost wish I hadn't. It was unbearable and hurt me deeply. That could have been any one of us. Do you think if Sean Penn had been kidnapped while he was in Iraq, and then decapitated in front of a camera for all the world to see, the stupid and evil libs might finally get it? Unfortunately for that to happen disaster is going to have to hit home again. And again and again and again. Oh, I pray it doesn't come to that.

I should point ouut that I have never advocated being nice to Islamic terrorists.

I am tired of being civil to the media. And it is not necessary to turn your anger on me.

While I agree that the terrs who murdered Berg are the absolute lowest that human genes can produce, Phil, that STILL doesn't excuse the guards or their officers for their actions. As I have been saying all along, we are better than they.

Once again, the prisoners at the jail were in posession of NO vital intelligence; wondering "what if?" is just an exercise in hypotheticals.

Once again, this was NOT the reason that the guards violated their orders or Geneva.

They did so for their own sick amusement, much as the Dims did by exploiting the scandal in the medias.

Pukin' Dog wrote an excellent essay here...I see you just HAD to bring your flamewar to it, even after I asked you not to post to me, TWICE. I'm now telling you a third time, DO NOT POST TO ME. You and I have nothing further to discuss.

Even he does not condone the torture of prisoners. See, he's an HONORABLE Officer.

That is MININTK and isn't what I was addressing with you anyway.
I am tired of being civil to the media.
NOW you are. And you've been here how long without taking this stance? Since 1998? And this incident is the one instance that finally breaks your back?! Like I said... I almost feel embarrassed for you.
And it is not necessary to turn your anger on me.
I'm not "angry" with you at all and I actually pity you in your presumption that I'm angry at you. I'm just wondering why it took you so long to take such a stance against the media when for years you've known the actions of the media. To finally speak out now, in the manner in which you have, seems a little...I can't even think of the proper word right now so I'll be nice and just leave it blank!
I rarely get truly angry at anyone here and you really wouldn't want me to get angy with you in words as I can be rather abrasive with the written word if I mean to be.
I really wish some people would quit whining at me and grow some thicker skins! All this faux aggressiveness on my part being cast at me is wearing a little thin.

Once again, the prisoners at the jail were in posession of NO vital intelligence;
And how in the world do you know that?!
Were you there? Did you interrogate them yourself? Are you privvy to the interrogation reports?
Could they have withheld information if they had any? Yes, they could've.
Pukin' Dog wrote an excellent essay here...
And? I've no problem with his essay.
Even he does not condone the torture of prisoners. See, he's an HONORABLE Officer.
And what, I'm somehow DISHONORABLE? Where did I "condone" the torture of prisoners? I took issue with your liberal views of assigning shame to those who carry no shame.
Have you forgotten what I initially posted in your desire to picture me as a worthless somebody because I pointed out that you were wrong in trying to convince everyone that we all carry the shame of the actions of a few?
Let's look at that again, shall we?
We blame those who DID IT, and we also realize that all of us will have to carry a portion of the shame, possibly for a long time to come.
I've little pity or respect for those acting or those acted upon. However, your "group shame" you can keep to yourself. I've no shame as the actions were not my own. Everyone accountable for their own actions.
You're playing a very liberal game with the manure you're pushing there!

To those who read my posts, it should be quite obvious that I have been angry at the media since 1998. There are numerous posts here where I have dissected New York Times articles, advocated boycotting certain programs, expressed my contempt for various media "stars" such as Chris Matthews, Peter Jennings, and Dan Rather.

I have cancelled my local paper, bought stock in Fox News and purchased a ton of conservative books.

What I have NOT done is lose my innate civility, having been brought up with courtesy as something to be desired. That is what has changed. I no longer feel the need to be polite to those who traffick in the destruction of this country under the guise of news and entertainment.

So, go right ahead and pity me if you wish. Makes no difference to me. I stand on my posts here, which anyone is free to look up. I don't think you are quite as familiar with my opinions as you think.

You're confusing "condoning" with "disagreement". I simply don't consider what was seen in those pictures as being torture, whereas you do.
Our real disagreement is that what I saw was simply humiliation whereas you see it as torture.
Watch the Berg video if you want to see true torture!
