Need Help From Freeper Females (vanity)

Some of the guys and I are presently at the camping lodge and we’ve got a problem that requires the help of a sensible woman. My brother-in-law managed to get something in his hair this morning, and he wanted to wash it out. I can’t tell you what that something was, because he’s refused to divulge that to us thus far (I suspect that he fabricated the “tainted hair” theory to save himself some embarrassment.)

My brother-in-law believes that his wife has, at some point, told him that peanut butter is a useful household hair cleaner / conditioner. His wife animately denied ever saying anything about peanut butter, and thinks that he must have confused it with mayonnaise. Anyway, this guy has gone from a docile gentlemen to a ranting idiot and he’s now in a state of full blown panic.

Please provide us with any suggestions that you may have for removing peanut butter from hair. If possible, we’d like to know of any “home remedies” that may work – we’re in a fairly remote location and nobody is willing to go to the store. Besides looking ridiculous, he smells horrible. Here’s what we’ve tried so far:

A) Tried to “melt” it away by pouring very hot water over his head. This basically resulted in mild burns to his neck and scalp.
B) Made a makeshift shower cap out of a Wal-Mart bag, taped it around his head to make it watertight, and poured beer in a small hole at the top. He let it soak for about an hour to no avail.

Anything that you can suggest would be most appreciated.

Jaysun

LOL! WHAT could the guy have stuck in his hair that he didn't want to divulge?

Crazy Glue?
Gum?
Silly Putty?

If he doesn't want to say what it is, he should at least tell us if it is a glue, a mallable substance, or whatever.

I vote for the Nair solution, myself. HA!

When I was a lot younger, I had really long hair and I was working on my own car and managed to get bearing grease in my hair. No amount of soap would wash it out, all it did was spread it around. I tried everything from Windex to Dish Soap. A Mechanic friend said to use vegetable oil to break it up and then shampoo several times and then use conditioner and blow dry..... IT WORKED

Good Luck,

Mike

Amen girl!! Heinz boycott no matter what the emergency. But really, peanut butter in hair is not an emergency. An orange seed up a toddler's nostril...now that's an emergency!

Mayonnaise is a good conditioner, but so are raw eggs.

That's the best suggestion yet. Cornstarch or talcum powder followed by a comb through followed by a good wash with soap and water.

Heh...I think Selsun Blue is the ultimate clean-up shampoo. My mom used it once on my little sister when she had really bad cradle-cap...which I don't think you're supposed to do in any case, but anyway...it cleared it up COMPLETELY in about five seconds. Scared Mom badly 'cause then she worried it was strong enough to hurt.

But I remember the same sister spilling a whole bottle of mineral oil on her head (don't ask), and nothing worked to get all of that out. It took weeks to wear out.

Why don't you post a thread asking how to get calouses off your friend's dominant hand too?

I can tell you why the beer didn't work. First you have to mix finely grated moose milk cheese with the beer, to make a moose cheese/beer paste. Then apply to the "unknown" substance on the hair. Works every time!

Tell him to go look at the host on the sun.

ROTFLMAO. You owe me a new keyboard! Just spewed water out of my nose. I'd managed to forget about her (CGEB) until you brought it all back. The pics on her home page were of a cute girl albeit in no way a true representation of her appearance.

If he got glue or something similar in his hair, an acetone-based fingernail polish remover might do the trick. However, it's going to be repelled by the peanutbutter, so you'll have to get that out first. (If you guys have fingernail polish remover, you ought not be tellin' it on here...lol!) Gasoline and WD-40 (mentioned earlier) are good solvents for a lot of things.
