Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton yesterday said she will turn down the vice presidential candidate slot if it's offered to her by Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry. Mrs. Clinton was asked in an NBC "Today" show interview what she would do if Mr. Kerry, Massachusetts Democrat, asks her to be his running mate. "Well, I don't think that will happen," Mrs. Clinton told Katie Couric in the interview, taped earlier this week and aired yesterday. "I've made it clear I don't want that to happen, and that my answer will be no if it does happen. I'm not ... I'm not prepared to do that." Political strategists had varying opinions of what her remarks mean. "People are looking for hidden motives every time she opens her mouth," complained Democratic analyst Donna Brazile, who said the remarks are consistent with Mrs. Clinton's stated goal of running for another Senate term. "[T]hat's where she's going to keep her focus," Ms. Brazile said. Others said Mrs. Clinton, who was elected in 2000 as the junior senator from New York, has her sights set on the presidency, and her remarks yesterday back that up. "My sense is that she doesn't like to play second fiddle to anyone and you're seeing that in this decision," said Republican strategist David Winston. "She's a pretty ambitious, focused person. I'm not sure that vice president is what she views as her goal." Mr. Winston said he assumes Mrs. Clinton, "would identify the best situation for her [to run for president] is an open-seat presidency, and therefore she's looking at 2008." Under this scenario, Mr. Kerry would lose this year's election and Mr. Bush would be leaving a two-term presidency in 2008, so there'd be two new candidates vying for the office

How's this for a scary scenario:

Hillary knows time is running out for her.

One plane "accident" this summer, before the convention; she accedes to the nomination, and gets to blame the Repub's for Kerry's death - with the compliant media chiming in.

Paranoid?

Paranoid?

A little .. an "accident" with Kerry would be to obvious with the Clinton's

However, until the elections are over .. there is always a chance for Hellary to be VP or the Top Dog

And no I don't believe her .. she said the same BS right before she ran for the NY Senate Seat

Not too far fetched. I remember certain dims were blaming the GOP when Paul Headstone bought it.

Kerry's ego's far too big to ask the beast to run with him even.

That didn't work too well during the Wellstone "wake".

Exactly. I wouldn't believe her. If she still means it in July, it can mean only one thing: Ketchup Boy is toast. If she thought Kerry had the slightest chance of winning, she'd insist on being the Number Two come hell or high water.

Hey, I thought Bill was the only one she said No to.

No one ever says NO to that woman. Right now she's signalling to Kerry to get his house in order and if he doesn't well - Hillary's waiting in the wings for 2008.

Also .. don't forget how the Dems dealt with Torricelli a month before the elections in NJ

'That didn't work too well during the Wellstone "wake".'

True, but, nationally-speaking, Wellstone was nobody; we're talking here about the annoited Democratic nominee.

If Iraq goes sour, and Kerry gets within striking distance of Bush .... well .....

Gee, Donna, why would that be...

Yes. The biggest clue to me that a "Toriceli" is in the makings are the words "presumptive Democratic candidate". When has that ever been said before?

And it can't be an airplane accident that does him in - been done too many times before. All they'd need to do is be sure Kerry got a little too much botox in one of his injections. "Tragic allergic reaction to medication" or some such thing.

But - plane crashes are complex, often taking months to fully solve; enough time for November to pass.

In the meantime she gets a free pass to blame the "right wing conspiracy", and you can bet Hollywood and the media echo-chamber will jump on it.

I watched a couple of minutes of the love fest this evening. Katie looked like a twelve year old girl who just met a real ballerina.

Her objective demeanor spoke volumes regarding her status as a true media professional.

It was nice to learn about Hillary being such a stoic stateswoman because she endured her husband getting b--w -o-s from a twenty-one year old White House intern. Hillary wished it had never come out in public. So do we. It should have stayed in his pants especially during during that phone call with a congressman in Florida, talking about sending our young men in harms way.

Hillary wanted us to know about her most proud lifetime achievement, raising that fine young daughter.

She looks forward to Bill's book being finished so she and he can spend more time together at the movies and going out to diner, you know, just like regular folks do.

That brings us back to the subject of do, and this interview was full of a lot of it from the few moments I observed.

Exactly! If offered, she'd take it in a heartbeat and John Kerry would end up like Vince Foster. I really look for Bill to pull out every stop and call in all his chips from the powers that be in the Dem-o-rat Party, to get Hillary that second spot. One can only hope. She'd sink his candidacy so fast.....

"Hillary wished it had never come out in public...."

It almost didn't.

Read "Uncovering Clinton" by Michael Isikoff, to see how the story got repeatedly stifled by Newsweek's senior staff; the only reason it came out at all was because of Matt Drudge.

You should have heard the Washington Post reporter on the Laura Ingraham show Thursday morning. He stated that Drudge merely posted the story before they could get it into print (basicly). LOL, these guys believe way too much of their own propaganda.

As much as I wish you were right, I am amazed that she could get elected to anything, let alone the Senate of the United States. I don't want that ----- anywhere near any ticket for public office.
