Favorite FReepers...
Me. | April 9, 2004 | Long Cut

Posted on 04/09/2004 2:37:38 PM PDT by Long Cut

We've all done it. You've just gotten home, logged on to FR, and are scrolling down the "Latest Posts" page, deciding which thread will get your attention this evening, when THAT SCREENNAME jumps out at you in a "to" or "from" position. You are powerless to resist; if THAT GUY's there, it's gonna be a good thread...

All of us have our own "favorites" among the many colorful souls who congregate at this fine website. They could be someone you disagree totally with, agree completely with, or somewhere in between. They might be a fount of useful information, links, and facts. Our favorite might be devastating at the art of debate; demolishing opponents in truly unique style, or he might be just plain nuttier than squirrel dung, but fun nonetheless.

Perhaps your favorite FReeper has a way with words; an excellent writer. Maybe they are someone highly experienced in a particular field, with knowledge that many do not posess. Maybe they're dumber than a bag of hammers.

Point is, no matter what the reason, our "favorite FReepers"' handle attached to a thread makes it all the more interesting to us; it guarantees a wild ride or sublime pleasure in the reading and learning. It may also guarantee an increase in blood pressure and indigestion, but one thing's for sure...that thread HE's on is gonna get a hit or two, and it won't be boring.

I've got more than a few of my own, and I'm sure all of you do as well. WHO'S YOURS?????????????????

My memory isn't as good as I'd like for it to be, but wasn't there also something going on with "Roy's Rock" around then? I remember feeling rather nervous back then, myself, that I was stepping on too many toes and should phrase things very carefully.

IIRC, the people who got into trouble during the Roy Moore thing were primarily Moore supporters who started going off on how anybody who opposed Moore was a communist, atheist, liberal etc. I wasn't warned nor did I have any of my postings pulled during that whole thing.

I bet JimRob knows her handle or user ID.

Wish I did.

I've never been warned on Free Republic, but I know I made some people angry. Sometimes on purpose, usually not.

Favorites? The danger in making a list is that someone will be left off and I'll be sad not to mention them. They are as follows in no particular order...

Mr. Spookbrat....because he loves his family.

MeekOneGOP…..because he is a true gentleman; a quiet, peaceful, sweet, loyal, kind hearted man. No one is nicer than Meek. (except Tim, of course). And he was nice to my mother when I had to drag her along for a lunch meeting...thanks Meek...you're even my mother's favorite FReeper. LOL

SAMWolf…..Loyal, passionate conservative with a tender heart, who would do anything for anyone.

Woahhs…..for his brain and sharp wit.

Donaeus...Sister Donaeus will be my bunk mate in heaven. She's a great conversationalist and has an uncanny ability to defend the truth with great tact and grace.

Victoria DelSoul...a sincerely good person who has always been a loyal friend to me. I know if I ever needed anything, Victoria would be there.

Jen...can’t put into words what Jen means to me, but I will say, she’s hospitable, has a very good looking husband, a sweet dog, knows how to throw a great party and is a good cook.

MistyCA...because she’s fearless and always stands up for what she thinks is right.

Billie...because she shares her grace, talents and good artistic eye with us everyday.

RadioAstronomer...who reminds me to walk with God and is also one of the smartest people I’ve ever known. Faithful and true to the end, wouldn’t hurt a mosquito if it landed on him, and he is always patiently helpful with our science homework when I can't understand how the moon spins.

Pippin...because she is always happy and reminds me to be more cheerful. She’s a great example of what “Joy” should look like.

The Mayor...because he loves God and his family so much.

Wvnan...because she’s compassionate and sincere.

LadyX...for her grace and her great stories.

JohnHuang2...cause he be real smart on Thursdays.

Aquamarine...because she’s “just like me”…….and she also has a really handsome husband. Oh, and she also has a cute dog. (Hi Daisy)!

Just Amy...because she’s clever and witty, loyal and true, loves her country and loves good music.

click on Amy's favorite song

ZinOregon...because he is passionate about what he believes and he is a heroic defender of babies and families.

Mrs tiggywinkle...because she changed my life by talking me into homeschooling. She’s a beautiful woman and a valued friend. She'll never "not" be me friend and I love it when she's in a bad mood and rips the kooks around here a new one.

Kneezles...because he looks good in Wranglers, and because he taught my son how to shoot a rubber band.

SassyMom...because she’s righteous and her laugh is contagious. She always makes me happy

Brad’s Gramma...because she’s insane and makes me happy. She's also my oldest friend here. I signed up and within 2 minutes she FReepmailed me and now we're friends for life. LOL (What have I gotten myself into? I should have never answered that FReepmail).

aomagrat...even though he never talks much, I appreciate him because he faithfully shows up everyday and serves FR with his ship history. (Smile and wave to the crowd aomagrat).

Mama_Bear...because she’s lovable and deserves a spot on this list.

Darksheare...because he has excellent taste in music AND friends and makes everyone happy when he is around.

Xzins...can’t put into words what xzins means to me either, but I always look forward to his passionate pings and value his integrity.

Johnny Gage……because he cares about everyone, even strangers.

Wimpycat......I don't know you very well, but you've always been nice, and I appreciate your clever posts when I run across them.

rdb3.....don't know you very well either but I know to stop and read a post that has your name on it. I value your courage.

All of this reminds me of the first time I met Meek. Remember Tiggy? You were fighting with someone and he said, "Don't you have any friends"? LOL You pinged Meek, Brad's Gramma, me and a few others. I remember the first conversation I had with Meek was about Darlie. Looking forward to the day we can silly string her grave.

Hey, Miss SpookBrat ! Thank you. You always have such nice things to say.
I'll have to work hard to live up to that now. ;^)

And I enjoyed that lunch with you, your Mom and Jonah that day.

Oh, yeah. I remember that creep being ugly to Mrs. TW that day. What a jerk he was.

And I recognized what that pic was right away. I haven't seen anything on Darlie in the news in a while. I hope she doesn't get the retrial she's going for. She deserves to be where she is right now: Death Row.

If she does and something goes awry, the DA has an Ace in the Hole: They convicted her for ONE of the two kids she stabbed to death. They can still try her for the other child ....

Actually, I thought MST3K:TM wasn't too bad. The problem is they had to both keep the MSTies happy while making things accessible to newcomers. Same thing happens whenever you try to make a big screen film that is supposed to be faithful to the series (Star Trek, X-Files) versus "remakes" of shows (Charlie's Angels, Starsky & Hutch.) Read about it here: http://www.mst3kinfo.com/mstfaq/movie.html

Thought you might enjoy this

Summer Wind Link

The summer wind, came blowin' in from across the sea

It lingered there to touch your hair and walk with me

All summer long we sang a song and then we strolled that golden sand

Two sweethearts and the summer wind

Like painted kites, those days and nights, they went flyin' by

The world was new beneath a blue umbrella sky

Then softer than a piper man one day it called to you

I lost you, I lost you to the summer wind

The autumn wind and the winter winds, they have come and gone

And still the days, those lonely days, they go on and on

And guess who sighs his lullabies through nights that never end

My fickle friend, the summer wind

The summer wind

Warm summer wind

Mmm, the summer wind
