Bush is surrounded by probably the smartest military tacticians on the planet and just because they don't rush out to a camera and describe every bullet fired does not mean Iraq is going tits up.

Damn! We have had a couple of days that have not been berries and cream, and we got proclaimed conservatives suggesting that the whole action has been wrong, and we should tuck tail and leave.
If our sons and daughters, husbands and wives, have the courage and honor to volunteer to defend our country, and free a population from the grips of the most evil human since Hitler, a population that has been taught that the way to settle problems is to kill them without prejudice, then damn it is it too much to ask that we tuck our guts in, and defend them and their Commander in Chief on the front here at home.
Is it gonna be easy? No. Are we gonna lose more soldiers? Yes. My heart breaks for everyone of their families. If they can stand in that sand, I by God can stand here.
Pres. Bush has told us on numerous occasions that this was not going to be quick, and it was going to unfortunately cost brave soldiers lives, but he also said we are going to win. I for one believe him. As far as I can tell he has never LIED to the American public, despite what a$$hole Kerry and the rest of the dems spew forth from the media.

PRESIDENT Bush (we know who you are from your lack of respect) never said fighting in Iraq would increase or decrease the number of terrorist attacks there. There were no terrorist attacks there before the war. Why would they bite the hand that feeds them?
You're gonna have to use just a wee bit more common sense to argue here.

Have some F(&^ respect, Canadian soldiers fought together with you in Afganistan, Canadian special forces together with your Delta hunted Taliban there(many were decorated by your own government) etc. We are not gona even go into the fact that Canadians fought in WW1 and WW2 before Americans got involved. About the "Combat operations" being over. Yes the conventional war was over, it was true enough. Did intelligence people mess up and did not predict that army will have to fight counterinsurgency war? yes they did F(*& it up bad. US and other allies are fight counterinsurgency war in Iraq, I really hope Bush has a plan, because Kerry idiot will cut and run and I am not sure if western civilization can afford another defeat like that.

This latest development might just be an opportunity, however. Tet was a horrible military defeat for Vietnamese because they fought a conventional battle vs US military. They let US have the schwerpunkt, if Hochi minh trail was cut America could win that war after Tet. At least thats the oppinion of the NV commander who lives in France now(got sick of the commies I guess). Shias and Sunni might have made a crucial mistake they might be giving US Army a chance for a decisive battle. When smoke clears everything might be much better then it was just a week ago. Let us all hope that these insurgents are stupid enough. US doesn't need nukes or decimation of cities, good old infantry will do the job as along as insurgents are willing to stand and fight they will die.

Not much reporting on this but it seems that Ukrainian contingent was involved in some heavy fighting too. One died and there are many injured. I wish them luck as well as to all US and allied soldiers.

There have been countless terrorists attack in this part of the world for thousands of years. The hashasins refined the art of assasination here. Saddam was even under daily threats of terrorist attacks against him. Thats why he had one of the greatest and most intense security networks on the planet. There were also daily killings and state sponsered terrorism carried out in Iraq while Saddam was president. The state run press however did not tell anyone about it. And all those CNN news anchor babettes found Iraq too dangerous back then to even set up permanent news anchor posts.

Why is it that Ted Kennedys outrageous attacks on Bush are occurring concurrently with the mulsim terrorists attacks on our troops in Iraq ? Is this a coordinated attack ?

Just read a report on WorldNetDaily from Iraq. It seems as if the Sunni and Shiite groups are combining efforts (your enemy is my enemy) in fighting us. They stated they will be targeting Bremer and other top officials. Claim they have not even begun yet - we will be in for a big surprise shortly. They are gathering in the neighborhoods and are recruiting kids as young as 8 as well as 80-year-old men to help in their battles. Think we should pull out the MOBs or a nuke or two. As far as their "72 virgins", I'm afraid someone misread the Koran - what they will get is a "72-year-old virgin" - serves them right! I think this is the time for some serious praying.

I think major combat never really happened. Major combat is huge columns of tanks and troops supported by coordinated air strikes taking on similar assets of the opposing forces. Iraqi forces were like a piss-ant being stepped on by an elephant.

Sure we are losing a few troops in Iraq. That's life. Troops die. Sacrifices must be made to keep one or two of our cities from going up in a nuclear puff.
