We’re going to need a thread II as this one is starting to slow the site down. Also, on the new thread, please stop posting the name and pictures of the person you think the woman may be. The evidence doesn’t support the claim and we don’t need to be doing that. Wait for it to come out. It will. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1076893/posts

CAMPAIGN DRAMA ROCKS DEMOCRATS -Drudge Alert (Thread II)

Update 2:

CAMPAIGN DRAMA ROCKS DEMOCRATS: KERRY FIGHTS OFF MEDIA PROBE OF RECENT ALLEGED INFIDELITY, RIVALS PREDICT RUIN

**World Exclusive**
**Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**

A frantic behind-the-scenes drama is unfolding around Sen. John Kerry and his quest to lockup the Democratic nomination for president, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

Intrigue surrounds a woman who recently fled the country, reportedly at the prodding of Kerry, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

A serious investigation of the woman and the nature of her relationship with Sen. John Kerry has been underway at TIME magazine, ABC NEWS, the WASHINGTON POST and the ASSOCIATED PRESS, where the woman in question once worked.

MORE

A close friend of the woman first approached a reporter late last year claiming fantastic stories -- stories that now threaten to turn the race for the presidency on its head!

In an off-the-record conversation with a dozen reporters earlier this week, General Wesley Clark plainly stated: "Kerry will implode over an intern issue." [Three reporters in attendance confirm Clark made the startling comments.]

The Kerry commotion is why Howard Dean has turned increasingly aggressive against Kerry in recent days, and is the key reason why Dean reversed his decision not to drop out of the race after Wisconsin, top campaign sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

Update 3

FROM CONRESSIONAL QUARTERLY'S CRAIG CRAWFORD: 'Drudge item on Kerry intern issue is something Chris Lehane (clark press secy) has shopped around for a long time -- it was one reason the Gore vetters in 2000 shied away from Kerry as a running mate choice -- their conclusion that it wasn't bad enough to disqualify him, except for the fact that they couldn't risk it as they were trying so hard to distance themselves from Clinton's personal failings (note: Lehane worked for Gore at the time -- and briefly advised Kerry during this campaign). The Kerry camp has long expected to deal with this, and have assured party leaders they can handle it'...

That would definitely explain Rove's seeming lack of concern at Bush getting hammered by the media the past few weeks. He had this gem in his back pocket.

If Hillary runs, no one will ever be able to accuse her of having an affair.

Her disdeeds will undoubtedly be more interesting.

There is an article in the NY Sun today saying Ralph Nader is going to run. I don't have access because you have to pay for it but if any freeper has a NY Sun account please post the news report about Nader.

Let's assess whether just how damaging, or not, this would be.

Drudge says she is an AP reporter. So presumably she's not a kid or an intern, or someone on his own staff he was exploiting.

If he quickly admits it, makes a tearful public apology, and Teresa publicly accepts the apology, embraces him and calls on America to stand with him . . . ?

You are talking about electibility in the general election. On that, I agree with you, although I maintain that it is not as big a deal as the other things that I listed (although voters may, as you suggest, think otherwise).

I doubt it will injure him in the Democrat primary.

Although, if the woman did flee the country at his behest, and if there was some sort of hush money paid or threats made, then I may reconsider, big time. That's the part of the story that has my eyebrows raised.

Let's get real here. A homemade porn tape of Kerry having a three-way with Jane Fonda and Ossama bin Laden could turn up and most Democrats wouldn't care; neither would the mainstream media. Those Kool-aid drinkers only care that Kerry's initials aren't GWB. Nothing else matters to them. This will blow over and leave Kerry untouched.

I wonder why Clark dropped out if he knew this was coming, is he going to get back in now and wanted the Drama of the rebirth?

I think Clark is just out of his league. If he thought he was going to get back in, why did he make some comments about Madonna - his "biggest" supporter! ;)

I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts that with Dubya looking weak this could be her time.

Bush doesn't look weak.

In fact, after this revelation, Bush will look like John Paul II.

It appears to be worse than just the affair as Kerry helped wisk the woman out of the country.
