Further, I think the car wash was getting threats too so the cops said in a press conf that Evie's Car Wash did not employ Smith and they had nothing to do with the murder. EXCEPT, IT WAS ON THEIR PROPERTY. They might be liable to some degree and tied up in litigation whether they want to or not.

Evie's Car Wash has no culpability whatsoever for Carlie's abduction or murder.

That guy could have been a Nut Case.. Don't ever do that again-- Pump your own gas

Very good advice. Your precious daughter was lucky, sounds like this guy was a gentleman. However, Ted Bundy was a good looking, outwardly polite guy, and he used that to lure unsuspecting women.

What a sad world we live in when we have to tell our children to be so untrusting. These days, it can be a matter of life or death.

Hush hushed, so that in a way we can deny culpability, and say "It was just the legal system in action! I didn't pull the switch!" I imagine a person from another world would be just as stunned by your arguments as my own.

Just once, I wish I'd let *me* pull the switch (so to speak) on a convicted murderer. I'd do it in a New York minute, and sleep like a baby that night.

O'Reilly had some ditzy defense attorney on last night who was defending what Judge Rafkin should/did know about Smith when deciding on the recommendations of the parole person. This chick kept looking off camera and laughing. Wrong time...wrong place...wrong issue, IMO.

News reports today say the judge has received death threats. That's wrong, too. Removal from the bench is the acceptable solution....maybe even a little jail time sharing a cell with the perp.

Actually, if we're talking about what I personally want, I want an end to capital punishment.

However, short of that, yes, I want executions out of the public eye. The last thing I want is a return to public barbarism where misery and suffering become matinee entertainment.

Now, I'll grant you that I might possibly be in a minority in the first position. However, I'm certain I'm not in the latter.

My cousins daughter was kidnapped and brutally murdered, and her 2 year old son was left to die in his carseat at the murderscene. Only by the grace of God did 2 fishermen find him the next day as they were scouting for a spot to fish.

I would love to see her filthy, lowlife murderer (he hasn't gone to trial as yet) stoned to death in the middle of our small town. I know I'd have a hand full of rocks ready.

Maybe if you had experienced such a tragedy in your family, you would feel differently.

No if, ands or buts, I would indeed feel differently. On an emotional level, I'd scream to high heaven for blood. No doubt about it.

However, the emotional response of an individual in great emotional pain is no way to make policy. I've always equarted the whole "feeling the issue" mentality with liberalism. It's a great liberal weakness. Liberals feel their way through issues instead of reasoning through them. I'd prefer to avoid that mistake.

Congratulations. You just posted the most bleeding heart liberal statement that I've ever read on Free Republic.

That former prosecutor if she was an example of attorneys in Sarasota, that whole community's in trouble. She was a disgrace.

Today, a family spokesperson held a presser to tell people "not to shoot" anybody else, i.e. the Judge. I truly believe the Judge called the family and asked them to stick their necks out to plead for his safety. Also, the family spokesperson stated "not to believe the rumors that were circulating about the family" to which Orlando Salinas added "re: the mother hanging out at the same bar that the suspect used to hang out at." Do we have another Van Damme type scenario developing. Never mind. It's just a rumor.

Further, the sheriff's office stopped Smith just hours after Carlie went missing right around where here body was found two days later. They saw him on Super Bowl night. He told them he took a whiz in the trees and they didn't even bother to RUN HIS TAG OR CHECK HIS I.D. There is so much blame to go around. CHARLIE CRIST FLA'S AG HAS STARTED AN INVESTIGATION.

Apparently, Carlie fought until her demise. The spokesperson today had a presser and asked people to "not shoot anybody" else or something like that. We don't know how she died yet I thought. This person was referring to the scared girly-man Judge being afraid. Judge Rapkin wasn't afraid of a serial predator but he's afraid of people who are outraged and are more than likely venting, not actually planning on revenge.

We can get this judge where it hurts. IMPEACHMENT, LOSS OF PENSION, stuff like that. At least this piece of trash liberal judge now understands fear and victimhood. Being bombarded by the citizenry woke him up out of his stupor.

I"m close enough to get breaking news. Bee Ridge Road is a major road running through the area. My brother worked at an stereotown on Bee Ridge before it went out of business. There are lots of freepers from Sarasota and even people from Tampa Bay are following this. Visit www.baynews9.com for latest updates.

PRIVACY OF FLORIDA FREEPERS ON A CRIME THREAD:

And, on another note, since this is about a murder, I don't think any freepers should volunteer other freepers' locations EVER.

I know your inquiry is innocent but freepers should not ever tell in a post where other freepers live. If something is planned, that's different but should be handled by freepmail between consenting freepers.

Re: Terri Schindler-Schiavo, at times more info got out than we intended but that was a major freep. Terri's still alive and thank God. www.terrisfight.org

Fla. AG Charlie Crist is going to investigate this abomination that happened to Carlie.

Well, how about Carlie's mom's homeowner's? I think crime is covered by homeowner's insurance. The car wash would simply be the location of the incident. I bet the mom didn't have homeowner's or renter's insurance. If she did, she needs to call them and find out. There was a crime case in Fla. in the mid-nineties where a guy got shot in a phone booth and that was covered by homeowners and also the crimes compensation program.

"CHARLIE CRIST FLA'S AG HAS STARTED AN INVESTIGATION."

I think there's some question, too, of why an Amber Alert wasn't issued right away.

Well, then, at least you admit your agenda, anti-death penalty. I hope you are willing to have pedophiles and rapists move in next door to you when they are released.

Right on target, as usual.

Sometime I long for the olden days of vigilante justice. If a pervert killed a child in the morning, he was dead by sundown.

You are just plain nuts to even hint at those things and to blame the victim that way.

What the hell are you smoking?
