Rush Limbaugh Certified FReeper!
EIB - Rush Limbaugh Show
| Rush Limbaugh
Posted on 01/16/2004 11:53:24 AM PST by MindBender26
In 3d hour of today's Limbaugh show, Rush was referring to a newspaper article from California. Was having a little trouble remembering some mundane details of the story and remarked "I'm having a little trouble remembering all the details of the story. I got it off Free Republic this morning!"
Rumors confirmed. We are the premier Conservative research source in the nation.
and.... welcome Rush.
PS, If Rush reads this, I know who has your Grandfather's first set of law books, along with a letter from Westlaw congratulating him on opening his practice, etc.
He would be glad to send you letter, copy, etc.

I don't think you're right about Common Tator. I checked his postings, and there are elements of his self-described biography that don't add up at all with Rush's. In addition, he seems to be somewhat Ohio-centric, which would not be Rush at all.
I was wrong, however, about Common Tator disappearing. He has posted to Free Republic quite recently.

Excuse me for being cynical here but Rush has mentioned FR and DU (in a negative light) a lot more since he got in trouble. I just wonder if he's shoring up his core support by throwing FR a few bones here and there. I don't think you're being cynical.
And I hope I'm not if I wonder if Rush could survive here considering his spate of Bush criticisms.

Rush has mentioned Free Republic semi-frequently for several years now, and when it is mentioned it has typically been more than just in passing like it was today, sometimes taking up entire segments of the show and prominent displays/links reference FR on his website.
This isn't a new discovery by any
means.

Not new at all.. In fact wasn't it Rush's man 'Snerdly' [ims] who was involved with investing in FR?
Hard to remember the details, but I believe a group of investors made a business offer to JR at one point.
Here it is, - James Golden is 'Bo Snerdly' of the Limbaugh show:
44. Free Republic continued to grow and by the fall of 1998 Free Republic outgrew its computer server again. We were desperately looking for donors to assist in facilitating the transistion to a larger server when I received an email message from James Golden of TalkSpot.
45. James Golden, of WorldStream Communications, had started TalkSpot, an audio web-casting service (similar to a radio talk show, only on the Internet instead of through the airwaves). Mr. Golden was conservatively-oriented and a big fan of Free Republic.
46. Mr. Golden very much appreciated the forum software I had designed for Free Republic and my knowledge of "bulletin board" forum-type systems.
47. TalkSpot wanted to expand their conservative talk show network and spread their message to as many Internet readers as possible.
48. TalkSpot also provided me with a personal consulting contract, which provided me with an income in return for me helping them build up their talk shows and their web site.
49. In addition, WorldStream agreed to "host" the Free Republic web server traffic.
50. As part of my consulting contract, I created a segment called "Radio Free Republic" We signed up two shows, the Alan Keyes Show and the Gary Aldrich Show and I provided links to these and the TalkSpot network on Free Republic.
51. We had hoped to start other new shows also -- such as the Ann Coulter Show and a show hosted by Lucianne Goldberg. Unfortunately, these never got off the ground. Simultaneous with our attempts to produce original web "talk" shows, many of the big radio talk shows expanded to the Internet. Web-only broadcasts couldn't compete, and so TalkSpot, though a valiant attempt, didn't survive.
52. After TalkSpot closed down, I lost my consulting contract,

I think the most amazing one was the Shuttle explosion last year. It changed from a celebration to a tragedy in a matter of minutes. It was an amazing thread.

I haven't actually read the FR homepage in forever. My bookmark takes me straight to "latest posts." Homepage? There's a homepage? Next you'll be telling me John Kerry served in Vietnam.

FR's stock must have gone way up during his darkest hours and when there was unremitting support for him on The Forum. Rush read, linked and referenced a post of mine the first week he was back from rehab -- somebody on that thread speculated that he may have been mentioning FR positively as a way of thanking us for support.

Yes! There really is a homepage! I found that out over the holidays when I visited a relative and had to find FR "the old fashioned way." It was very strange.

but Rush has mentioned FR ... a lot more since he got in trouble. Uh uh, not really.
In the past I've posted RealAudio clips where he *really* 'poked' at FR ... off and on he's always made comments like "that'll get the Freepers going" (paraprasing) ...

I'll never forget the, "President Bush just landed about an hour ago, and his currently having dinner at my undisclosed location" thread.I remember that one as well. Right after I joined. I got up that morning and read the headline of the thread, and didn't think anything about it. Went to my sisters to help cook Thanksgiving dinner, and it was all over the news.

Free Republic = The PREMIER show prep site for RUSH and the world.
Rush, Howie Carr et al, get it here and they turn around and are show prep for others. I have seen it time and time again. I read it here first and hear it from them later on. Then I think to myself... "Hey I read that EARLIER on FR!" Well-done guys and gals... keep up the great work! :o)

Rush is like a Big Brother to me. Listening to the show since the day he came on in NYC on 77 WABC I have been Thru death AND life with him, both His family and mine. I take any unkind words toward him personally.
I was physically sick when he told us about his hearing loss.
The same upon learning of his present reversals.
He turned me on to the web and Free Republic.
I hope he is still a part of our wonderful on line party.
