I lay awake in bed for three hours straight this Thursday, panicking that I have become way too choosy when it comes to blind dates. After all, isn't New York full of lonely women in their 30s who think no one is good enough?

I actually know some Manhattan women just like this, same age and everything, which is kind of scary.... No man is good enough, and nothing ever lasts long for them, dinner is an exercise in seeing how many times she can trip him up or he can't make her laugh on cue or whatever.

Almost always there is some guy in their past who was so perfect and did everything just right and is so much better than you and just UNDERSTOOD her by just looking at her and she didn't have to tell him to do this and that (like with you) and then she just got bored and left him or then he left her and ran off with a stripper or with her (now former) girlfriend or someone he worked with and she can't believe it took her so long to figure out he was such a rat and her mother is so controlling and criticizes her housekeeping and blah blah blah blah blah blah blah....

She mentioned that the "dinner" was being charged for research. If it was only dinner she should have been more specific. To give the guy the benefit of the doubt, he may have assumed that the cab ride was being charged to research too.
No relationship is perfect. If the conversation's great, you like the guy, what's a little cab fare every once in a while? The woman seems to be looking for an excuse to stay single.

Sounds like an exact description of women in Toronto. I suppose some things are universal. You hold the door for them and act gentlemanly, and they get upset, you treat them as an equal and don't act too gentlemanly and they get upset....

See, you are going about it all wrong. You need to beat them a bit. Make sure to leave a black eye, so that everyone knows the bitch is YOURS. Also, make sure to tell her how ugly and stupid she is regularly, and that she's lucky to have you, because no other man would look at her twice.

Then she will tell her friends that you only have a little temper, but are a great guy and that she loves you a lot.
