Question number one on the test for the other gender: Can you hum the Battle Hymn of the Republic while you're down there?

One thing trips my BS meter:

Self-described thoroughly in-control, worldly chick, goes on date where she's figuring she'll pick up the tab only takes one C-note with her?

I take more than that to go to the local Sports bar on Sunday.

"Heck, I was desperate to get away two paragraphs into the article."

Tell me about it. My wife laughs at these types of women who think that they can find "love on a list". Inevitably they seem to just keep asking questions until they finally hear an excuse to "reject before being rejected", as well as getting to go be the center of attention to their remaining friends when they whine about how bad their last date was.

Poor thing isn't a looker, either. Couple that with a B-school education and no money and one wonders just what type of man is going to be willing to put aside her "idiosyncracies" for longer than a 6 hour shack up.

I'd color that "skank."

I sure wish I had a copy of that photo of Bill and Hillary in law school. If you know where it is, please post it side by side with this one. For information purposes only please.

This is great! I don't even buy the Post and I get to enjoy the story! I still think he decided she was a loser and he figured he had nothing to lose by stiffing her for the cab. I mean, ordinary decency aside, why should he pay? Is she part of his social circle? No. Would he likely see her again? No (at least that's the hope!). Why then? Chivalry? Right.

Oh, well, this whole thing has a certain air about it.....

Maybe he didn't give a flying monkey if he ever saw her again. She sounds trapped in an episode of "Sex and the City", and who would want to tangle with one of those women on a permanent basis?

You know you've found a candidate if she has ever even heard of the Battle Hymn of the Republic, and doesn't ask why it wasn't called "Battle Hymn of the Democracy."

More than likely he wasn't too keen being part of a "research" project. Myself, I would have approved of her inherent cheapness (expensing the dinner and combining business with pleasure) and probably would have been impressed enough to see her home. She sounds like my kinda of gal... of course I tend to go for the difficult types anyway.... the challange is/was entertaining.

They want a man THEY can control,

I dated one o' dem, once, when I was young and foolish... first date, I had a hostile, uneasy feeling, but wasn't sure why. Second date was a show stopper ... she was trying to turn me into some kind of fop. My clothes weren't right, my hair wasn't right, my music wasn't right, my car wasn't good enough ... blah blah blah ... I ditched the b!+@#, and chalked the unpleasantness up to "experience".

Too bad Brig, maybe next time you'll get a real man,

He was a cool cum nerdy type: trim, with glasses and a David Beckham haircut.

This woman seems to have a problem with labeling and categorizing people. "Cool cum nerdy type"? What the heck is that?

I really can't stand reading about this woman's social life. The more I read the more digusted I get with her and women her age in general. She is typical of the average woman out there today. She sleeps around and rights about her exploits in a newspaper. Then she asks why these guys leave her. No one is "good enough" for her.

Unfortunately, I have become quite selective myself. At 34, I am constantly on the lookout for these vile creatures. Unfortunately, I have become something of a twisted commodity. I am 34, single, with no baggage, and judging by some of the women I have dated in the past, ok in the looks department. It is a constant challenge not to sound jaded because there really are some women out there worth the effort, but you have to be careful not to scare the good ones away.

Enjoy the garbage heap Bridget, you disposable piece of trash!

Then again, a substantial percentage of American men in their 20's thru 40's are either this or this.
