Washington D.C. - 10/25/03
Counter-protesters were harassed, threatened, and some assaulted by security personnel of the anti-Iraq Occupation rally (International A.N.S.W.E.R.) before police appeared and relocated the counter-protesters in Washington D.C. today. No arrests were reported, but there was one unconfirmed report of a pregnant female counter-protester being injured in the fracas.
The counter-protesters, consisting of members of the web-based ProtestWarrior.com and FreeRepublic.com, arrived at the protest at approximately 1:30PM carry pro-America signs and positioned themselves just north of the stage area on Constitution Avenue, N.W. They had no permit to organize as a group.
The counter-protesters stood quietly holding their signs aloft. The signs, attempts at humor, had slogans such as; "Communism has only killed 100-million people, let's give it another chance, " and "Screw the Kurds, No war in Iraq."
Within 10 minutes of their arrival, security members from International A.N.S.W.E.R., organizers of today's Anti-U.S. policy protest, appeared and began to cordon-off the area occupied by the counter-protesters using yellow tape.
Within moments, members of the International A.N.S.W.E.R. security team began grabbing and destroying the counter-protester's signs, and aggressively shoving counter-protesters. A Johnny P News reporter was assaulted while trying to capture the event on camera. The reporter was struck in the head and his camera knocked to the ground and then kicked by a man standing with the International A.N.S.W.E.R. security personnel. The assailant refused to give his name or answer any questions.
All of the International A.N.S.W.E.R. personnel at the scene refused comment.
Police soon appeared and insisted all of the counter-protesters leave the immediate area.
Members of the counter-protest group began saying that a woman 5-months pregnant with the counter-protesters was injured in the scuffle. Police at the scene however, would not allow access to the area where she was reportedly receiving treatment.
Approximately 60 counter-protesters were on hand during the altercation. U.S. Park Police unofficially estimated the protesters attendance at 50,000.
Only because the DUh crowd is easily bored.
They need someone else to organize things for them.
They're liberals, a free ride appeals to them.
Yep, insane. Sure. See you in the history books.
Now, back to bed.
Then we were a success today. The various reports noted that there was a counter rally supporting the troops and the President. That makes clear that the ANSWER march doesn't speak for the public.
And most of all, when our troops read about it, they also see ANSWER isn't everybody back home.
Bob, I have lurked here or have been a registered poster here since 1997, have JimRob run a check on my screen name, it should appear twice, me both times.
I don't pay alot of attention to West Coast Politics any more than I pay attention to FreeRepublic politics, I contribute, I read and learn, and I promote, actively, our common goals.
There are many ways to go about attacking the evil that is among us, and some of us are more into counter-protesting than others. It's amazing how those who aren't at one of these events feel compelled to offer their critique of the event. I can't help but wonder if it's jealousy motivating them, as the DC chapter has put FR on the map with all the media coverage they have gained.
I am eagerly awaiting the "official" report of today's event from the DC chapter.
All that will get us is your name engraved on a little gold plate on the "500 Gallon Donor" plack at the sperm bank.....
Most of what you seem to be doing lately is backstabbing via email. Why can't Freepers anywhere contact the Leadership Institute to run a class in their local area? Why the hell should they have to go through the FRN? What do you bring to the table that you can tell them they can't arrange that?
That's exactlyn the point. They don't have that press acount to themselves and people won't think they speak for America. Too many times in the past, because on one side showed up, everyone assumed their view represented America.
Plus we demoralized a lot of their marchers. Those whose commitment is weak won't be back. Some who didn't think about why they were there, won't be back now that they know who leads the groups.
Their numbers are down again.
And LA is one of the "Plains States"?
Don't answer that, it's a throw away question.
Those rallies are cited by the press and the Democrats and their side as evidence the public feels like they do, and as long as they are the only ones to publically speak out, people will give more credit to their view than is deserved.
I had at least 5 flight suits and Bush masks but the commies arrived early and we had no time to "suit up" even one "Fighter Pilot Bush".
