TERRI SCHIAVO WHAT ELSE CAN WE DO?

Posted on 10/20/2003 3:26:05 PM PDT by AnimalLover

Wanted to pass along some information.

Have been calling everyone I could think of in Florida and Washington, including John Ashcroft -

lhttp://www.whitehouse.gov/government/ashcroft-bio.html

Called Hal Lindsey's office at TBN (Trinity Broadcast Network) - secretary had never heard of the case - gave her Terri's website - she said she was going to get in touch with Hal to see what he could do.

Called the Supreme Court- naturally closed for the day. Operator told me that to file a complaint, call the General Counsel of the Court at: 202 - 502-1100. She suggested I call early Tuesday since I live in California.

Does anyone know how to get ahold of Billy Graham? I hope that Hal Lindsey can get ahold of him.

Can anyone get ahold of Jack VanImpe - he's just outside of Detroit - I believe in Troy. He has a national TV program.

Was able to talk to someone in Bush's Chief of Staff's office - told him Bush better send in the National Guard. That people across the country are ANGRY and there would be a severe backlash if Terri dies.

Also told him that a lot of people here in California are going to cancel trips to Florida, any thought of moving there and to boycott Florida products.

If I can think of anything else I will add to this thread.

God bless all of you Freepers! I know if something happened to me I'd feel safe knowing I had your support.

I wrote area news media to let them know about this story, including the Tampa Tribune. Considering the level of Florida- or Tampa-area news media coverage, which was next to none, the legislators aren't going to do anything unless they get pressured from the public.... and the public, unfortunately, has, by and large, been kept in the dark about this story.

We must keep up this good fight and pray for a miracle.

Priest Who Blessed Terri Schiavo with Relic of Mother Teresa Hints at Hope for Miracle
http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2003/oct/03101702.html
TAMPA BAY, October 17, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The parents of Terri Schiavo, the disabled Florida woman who is destined to starve to death after a court ordered the removal of her feeding tube, were able to have a supervised visit with their daughter after her feeding tube was removed. Bob and Mary Schindler visited their daughter accompanied by Rev. Thaddeus Malanowski, a Roman Catholic priest who visits Terri weekly.

The New York Times reports that Father Malanowski took a scrap from a robe worn by Mother Teresa into Terri's room and blessed her with it. Recalling the fact that Mother Teresa is to be beatified Sunday October 19, the priest noted that to become a canonized saint, Mother Teresa would need to assist in another miracle.

Meanwhile, the round-the-clock prayer vigil outside the hospice where Terri lies starving continues. Doctors are disagreeing on whether the starvation of Terri will be painful, and the Schindlers are also concerned that the morphine to be given Terri to combat the starvation pains may be given in doses which will kill her. Otherwise she could live another eight days without food and water.

Finally Governor Bush has assured the Schindler's that he supports them, and has asked his legal team to investigate the possibilities of intervening in the case. Yesterday legal experts from the Thomas More Law Center provided overwhelming evidence that a criminal investigation into the causes of Terri's disability could be launched. Brian Burch of the Law Center told LifeSite that Governor Bush has the authority to launch the criminal investigation which would call for Terri's life to be preserved as she is integral to the case.

As of Friday afternoon, Bush has maintained that he is still not able to intervene. Bob and Mary Schindler nevertheless remain prayerfully hopeful.

The heathen, Godless lawyers have the judicial system turned @ss-backwards and inside-out in this country, and the know-nothing, listless, self-serving politicos we've elected will sit back on their haunches, wait for her to die, then put on a misty-eyed performance about how they TRIED to stop it before it was too late.

Just like the Florida legislature blew off the moratorium bill today.

We, as a country, are doomed.

It is a sad day in the USA when USA courts condemn someone to die, who has committed no crime.

I have this to say, that if her life can't be saved from the ghouls of FL, she should at least be shown the most mercy possible during that time. Also that fluid in the morphine drip can't hurt.

Sounds like there may need to be a big civil disobedience, to get the news's attention.

Federal Law prohibits the use of federally funded drugs in "right to life" cases, euthanasia. Source: JOHN ASHCROFT. Is morphine federally funded? Do hospices receive federal funds?

Of course, in Terri's case, they are calling morphine "pain control," ignoring that it hastens death due to dehydration.

I have never advocated civil disobedience until now.I can say that if it were my daughter in there I would STORM the place and at least attempt to make big enough scene to start a riot!!!!!!!!!!!

"It is a sad day in the USA when USA courts condemn someone to die, who has committed no crime. "

The real irony is that the same people who don't care if innocent people die (pro-choice included) are generally the
sameones who are against capitol punishment - protecting the guilty...

Just like the Florida legislature blew off the moratorium bill today.

Although a moratorium might have been a good idea, it really wouldn't solve the root problem, which is the complete lack of any check on trial-court judge's power.

As a simple example, once Judge Greer found that there was no possible conflict of interest regarding Michael and Terri, nobody else could do anything to force the appointment of a guardian ad litem for Terri.

I don't know how to fix the system without making things worse, but it's clear that some regulations which are designed to prevent "judge shopping" instead allow whatever party in a case controls venue to shop for a favorable judge and then keep that judge forever.

There are a few specific things that could have been done that would have helped Terri's case, and that might be reasonable to pass as legislation though the usefulness would be limited.

For example, the statute regarding guardians ad litem could enumerate some specific and indisputable circumstances in which a judge would be required to appoint a guardian ad lib, rather than merely using broad terminology. Such circumstances could include, but not be limited to:

To be sure, even with such a law in place there would have to be some means of protecting against "yes man" guardian ad litems, but I see no excuse for a judge not to appoint a guardian ad litem in the cases described above.

Funny that. And we need to lock up gun owners who commit paperwork violations, while letting robbers and rapists out on parole because prisons are too full.

I've been "out of the loop" all day. Was a special legislative session held in Florida? Any changes?

Right out of my personal phone book:

WMIT (The Light)
Blue Ridge Broadcasting
P.O. Box 159
Black Mountain, NC 28711
106.9 in the western NC area
800-330-9648

Sorry no email addy.

Billy Graham has moved his headquarters to Charlotte, NC.

Billy Graham is one of the few Christian televangelists I trust. His group, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is one of the best ever.

Note to Sweet (a disclaimer of sorts): I am in no way advocating Trinity Broadcasting or Van Impe -- I have as many problems with their teachings as I do with the RCC (altho I do like Hal Lindsay very much). BUT, we need all the voices we can get and QUICKLY!!

Please dear Father in Heaven, if it be Your will, let your Holy Spirit move quickly to save Terri!!

There's a fairly old song, I think Prince wrote it, and M.C.hammer covered it that said

"You have to pray, jsut to make it through the day"

some folks may not like the messengers, but please follow the message.

I expected some news on this today. I made phone calls and they were all answered on the first ring--not enough people are calling their representatives and Governor, obviously. Look, folks. Florida's government really doesn't give a rip what Oklahomans and Texans and Californians think. If Floridians are not keeping their representatives fully informed about their beliefs on this, we can't possibly win this. Those phones are not busy enough. There aren't enough protestors locally on the scene. And nobody is getting the media to pay attention.

SHAME on Drudge; Shame on Fox. Shame on Lucianne, too, for that matter. I have been disappointed in those voices before, but that they aren't speaking for Terri speaks volumes about them.
