FREEPERS, I have taken a break from Terri's 24/7 Vigil to ask for your participation in the next phase of trying to save Terri's life while we wait for good news.
I have not received the Governor's Itinerary for the following week yet from myflorida.com.
We are asking Floridians and out-of-staters to freep the Governor's Mansion in Tallahassee.
If you need ideas for signs, it's basically urging Governor Bush to issue an executive order to stay Terri's starvation.
At this time, the Florida Supremes are reviewing filings today by Terri's counsel.
We need northern Florida to freep Jeb Bush STAT whether he's there or not.
Finally, if anyone receives Jeb's schedule in their e-newsletter, please post it here so we can hold Terri vigils in whatever town Jeb is in.
Sorry, I can't be more informative at this time. I'm sunburn and tired and this request has come from Terri's team. Thank you in advance. Floriduh Voter

This will NOT be good news for the Schindlers. The lower court and the appellate court have already dismissed the writ today. Appeals courts can only act upon what trial courts give them. Judge Greer has declared Terri a vegetable, so as far as any appeals court could be concerned, she's a vegetable.
The only appeals issue I've seen which might have merit is the fact that medical practice demands that even patients with feeding tubes removed be given some amount of water; Greer's order does not say anything about that, and so doctors should not withhold water from Terri. To be sure, that issue would only buy Terri a few days, but at this point that would be much better than nothing.

All options have been explored. All avenues are being explored. I must return to Terri's Vigil. There are so many into the night that we have designated a "living room" and a "kitchen" on Hospice's lawn. We are fed, have radios, chairs and chaise lounges.
It's ironic that Terri's finances pay for the police presence to keep everyone away from the facility while she is going to be shutting down sometime without food or water.
"FURTHER, we would APPRECIATE another person of high regard to come down to Pinellas Park, FL to pray with us and talk to the press on Saturday and Sunday." (freep on behalf of Floriduh Voter)

I'm sorry folks, but it's time to let the poor woman go. Would it bother you to know that the husband has obtained $750K from an insurance company under the pretext that it be used for her rehabilitation, and only came up with this "Terri wants to die" notion after he got the money? Would it bother you to know that over $300K has been used on legal fees trying to get Terri killed, while any attempts at rehabilitation have been actively blocked? Does it seem like a man who stands to gain a lot of money upon Terri's death might perhaps not have her best interests at heart, especially since he has forsaken all marital vows to her and remains married solely so he can remain in control?
A woman who has survived infections, an earlier starvation attempt, and various other such things would appear to have a pretty strong will to live. When the only person saying Terri wants to die shows no interest in her comfort or well being but stands to gain hundreds of thousands of dollars upon her death, why should his claims be believed?

Storming the doors is not an option. There is a heavy police presence with police dogs and doing so would land us in the pokey for kidnapping and trespassing charges among others.
We are holding a peaceful vigil but believe me, many at the vigil have fantasized about how to get Terri out of there. Borrow the Bucs, catwoman costumes, helicopter, etc.
During the night to morning time, we are in the "living room" that we established there. Of course this is all unthinkable and unbelievable. If there is any intel out there, please freepmail me. Intel re: the Judge Greer, Atty Felos or hubby. Seriesly. This is hugh.

How do I get on the ping list?
I asked this on another thread, but thought I would put it here too.
Hey, just wondering who Micheal Schiavo won his malpractice suit against?
Why isn't the medical company who paid him off, demanding their money back?! Why don't we write to them? Schiavo misrepresented why he needed money. If she is to be killed and not live for the 50 years he argued for, he should give the money back!
Now why isn't this angle being pursued?
To: tuckrdout
100% agree!
Time for talking is over.
The courts and politicians know they can just ignore people who will go away like good little citizens when told it is over.
Her family will have to go into the hospital and GET HER OUT NOW BEFORE IT IS TO LATE. Then care for Terri themselves. I am sure there will be plenty of qualified volunteers to help.

Bye, bye, back to the lawn. There has been someone there 24/7 since Monday. We are sending one whopper of a message. Please help us if you can.

Wanna see something ironic?
BUSH ACHIEVES PROTECTION AGAINST INVOLUNTARY EUTHANASIA IN TEXAS
"Governor Bush's veto of the advance directives bill following the 1997 legislative session reflected his conviction that the lives of all human beings regardless of their medical condition are deserving of care, compassion, and necessary lifesaving medical treatment if requested," said Joseph Graham, Ph.D., president of the Texas Right to Life Committee. "He was further convinced that a law which would have had the effect of denying such treatment would violate fundamental justice."

Such a brief appears at Terrisfight.org; I would hope it's already being pursued.

This appeal is on the writ of mandamus (to have the courts compel Jeb to act). The circuit court judge said the Schindlers filed it in the wrong court (Tallahassee rather than Pinellas). They appealled that ruling (rather than filing the writ in Pinellas county). That appeal was denied. The Supremes will rule on this case by midnight.
I doubt if this case would've turned out any differently had the case been filed in Pinellas county, but it'll be no surprise if the Florida supremes dismiss this case.

I think it is time to let YOU go, cuz you are irritating me. I think you're perhaps being a little over-harsh. I think the point that needs to be made is that while there are times when it's appropriate to "let people go", this case is qualitatively different in at least three ways:
- There is evidence that Terri is not in a permanent vegitative state and has some degree of concious mental functioning.
- At least $750K has been earmarked for Terri's rehabilitation; the amount of money spent thus far on Terri's rehabilitation has not yet reached $750K.
- There are people who wish to take on the responsibility of taking care of Terri.
While there may be some legitimate question as to how much money taxpayers should have to spend to keep alive people for whom nobody wants to take responsibility, I see no legitimate basis for preventing care from being voluntarily given by people who wish to give it.

They appealled that ruling (rather than filing the writ in Pinellas county). Is it impossible to file the writ in Pinellas County without it having to go before Judge Greer? If the answer's yes, that would explain a lot.

From the AP story you posted:
"...Doctors have said Terri Schiavo is in a persistent vegetative state with no hope of recovery, but her parents believe she has mental abilities and can be rehabilitated..."
[only 'doctors' selected by those who want to kill Terri are allowed near her. Other doctors, seeing the videos
http://host85.ipowerweb.com/~friendso/vid.html say differently
http://www.wtlv.com/news/news-article.aspx?storyid=9362 ]
"...There has been an awful lot of judicial attention to this case," [Schindler attorney] Anderson said. "Judges don't like to second-guess each other."
[Is second-guessing worse than the chance that someone who is conscious and aware will be allowed to die a slow death?]
"...the attorney for Michael Schiavo... Felos has criticized such last-minute legal maneuvering as an attempt by the Schindlers and their supporters to negate repeated court approval of Michael Schiavo's actions..."
[Perhaps this 'last-minute legal maneuvering' is an attempt to save their daugher's life before it's too late]
"...Anderson met with FDLE agents in July to discuss the Schindlers' suspicions that broken bones detected in 1991 were caused by her husband. The broken bones were discovered in a routine bone scan, but have been explained by doctors to be brittle bone disease..."
[Again, which 'doctors' made this assessment? Did any doctors not approved by Michael Schiavo get to examine Terri? No. That was forbidden by Judge Greer.]
