Republicans lost the argument, but they ultimately had the votes.
Forty-nine Senate Republicans and one Democrat just confirmed Brett Kavanaugh to the United State Supreme Court. No allegations, no protesters, no public opinion poll showing Brett Kavanaugh is the most unpopular person to be elevated to the nations highest court in recent history was going to stop them.
To the senators who confirmed him, it did not matter that Christine Blasey Ford testified for four hours under oath and told the Senate Judiciary Committee that she was 100 percent certain Brett Kavanaugh was the boy who pulled her into a room at a high school party 36 years ago and tried to force himself on her. It did not matter that Kavanaugh appeared to, at best, mislead senators in his own testimony. It did not matter that, unlike Clarence Thomas who also faced allegations of sexual misconduct, the public thought Kavanaughs accuser was more credible than he was.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) framed the Senates decision simply, days before the final vote: It is about whether or not a woman who has been a victim at some point in her life is to be believed.
The Senate has answered definitively: We do not believe her, not really, and we dont care that the public does.
This is the governing ideology of the Republican Party: We dont care what anybody else thinks. We have the power. We have the will. We have the votes. Well do what we want.
In politics, theres winning the argument, and theres winning the vote. Republicans lost the argument, but they ultimately had the votes. (emphasis mine)

They pop a picture of grown women pretending to cast spells and they expect us to take them seriously?
Agreed. Mitch McConnell only played hardball here because it is a key issue for him and something he stated in the past was important (judiciary)
Other things, he is at odds with the President.
I get a little disheartened sometimes, thinking that we may never see someone like Trump again, and it will go back to the Right being a punching bag and laughing stock for the Left.
Only about 20%. And 80% of that 20% they spend thinking about what they are feeling. . .
Democrats don’t want you to think. Republicans don’t care what you think, but don’t want you to emote.
Vox is a pox.
Great post.
“This is the governing ideology of the Republican Party: We dont care what anybody else thinks. We have the power. We have the will. We have the votes. Well do what we want.”
They finally get it! Add: “We have God on our side.”
“Republicans lost the argument, but they ultimately had the votes.”
Getting the votes = winning the argument.
Thanks, fieldmarshaldj...I think I am preaching to the choir, but...I don’t care anymore...thus the article!
At this point, it’s rediculous to assume that Kavanaugh is conservative. But their assumption is that any nomination from Trump is basically evil and they are irrational.
The one thing I learned about leftism is that they really don’t want problems to be solved. They want to perpetuate problems in order to stay in power and lie to their constituents that the GOP/Conservatives are the source of the problems that only “they” can solve. They count on their media wing to keep the populace dumbed down and brainwashed to perpetuate their power.
I absolutely believe its origins and inspirations come straight from Satan.
Leftists like to pretend that their screaming at us and acting like an ignroant lynch mob is the same as making an argument. They know, however, they are likely to lose legitimate debates, and that is why they rarely engage in actual arguments (rather than temper trantrums, slanders and threats, wild emotional exaggeration, double standards, and preying on the ill-informed with their distortions and lack of facts or any connection to reality).
Hey...where have I heard something like that before...I know! It was "Men are from Mars..."
That is...Leftists are EMOTION driven.
Yep! I see “Vox” and I don’t even need to read it.
Every word that you said is correct with Tobasco sauce. We must fight them at every turn over every subject.
What did Genghis Khan finish up with about the greatest pleasure when conquering your enemies? Something about the lamentations of their women. Boy, have heard plenty of those.
Anyone remember the last time the GOP was accused of this? Me neither.
We care what others think. But we don’t care what people say without evidence.
We don’t care about what you say if you are saying it because you feel emotion contrary to, or in the absence of, actual facts.
Well, given that their men’s voices are completely indistinguishable from their women’s voices, it is a given we have heard plenty of those!
(Love that saying, for years, I had always thought it was Genghis Khan who said it, but apparently...it was from “Conan the Barbarian”, which I have never seen! I have to watch it someday, because I sure like that quote when applied to leftists!)
