A sneak peek at the Timess news analysis from Nov. 4, 2020.
Nov. 4, 2020
In the end, a bitterly fought election came down to the old political aphorism, popularized during Bill Clintons successful 1992 run against George H.W. Bush: Its the economy, stupid. This time, however, it was the Republican incumbent, not his Democratic challenger, who benefited from that truism.
Donald J. Trump has been decisively re-elected as president of the United States, winning every state he carried in 2016 and adding Nevada, even as he once again failed, albeit narrowly, to gain a majority of the popular vote. Extraordinary turnout in California, New York, Illinois and other Democratic bastions could not compensate for the presidents abiding popularity in the states that still decide who gets to live in the White House: Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida.
Yet, unlike 2016, last nights outcome came neither as a political upset nor as a global shock. Mr. Trump and Vice President Mike Pence have consistently polled ahead of Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and her running mate, Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio, since July. The New York Times correctly predicted the outcome of the race in every state, another marked change from 2016.
In exit poll interviews, Mr. Trumps supporters frequently cited the state of the economy to explain their vote. What part of Dow 30,000 do the liberals not understand? Kevin OReilly of Manchester, N.H., told The Times....

Those eggs haven’t even laid yet. Let along hatched.
EGGS-zactly!
Surprised that the New York Times will, still, exist, by then!
He’s going to win again, and this time, even the popular vote will be on his side.
And, he’ll win at least 5 other states in the electoral college.
The Dow will be more like 35,000.
I think he adds NV, VA, MN.
The comments at the NYTimes site are amusing, and some are quite perceptive.
“In related news, Hillary Clinton held a press conference outside her home in Chappaqua, NY late in the evening as polls closed across the country. Dressed in an outfit that appeared to be a bunch of burlap sacks stitched together, and wearing a lamp shade on her head, she said she would demand recounts in several battleground states and would not concede the election. When a reporter asked why she’d say such a thing when she wasn’t even a candidate, Huma Abedin and a man in a white coat wielding a syringe emerged from the small knot of supporters and hustled her off into the back yard.”
Definitely NV, MN.
VA has breaking republican hearts for 20 years because of Northern VA which is a bedroom suburb of DC, home of DC bureaucrats and very liberal like Washington DC
In a related story, Robert Mueller again refused to issue any report on what he may have found on Russian collusion, saying it is still “evidence in an ongoing case” against 12 Russian intelligence agents.
Whats this popular vote thing I keep hearing about? I dont see it mentioned anywhere in the Constitution.
Democrats get KO’d in 2020. I’m taking bets. Any takers?
Bret Stephens is a nasty piece of work.
Here’s a funny one:
Just last night my sister told me a conversation she had with our mother. As someone who gets their news exclusively from Fox News, and as a Trump supporter I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised. My mother was noting how everyone was driving new cars, how employment was low - just how great the economy is doing - clearly giving Trump credit. It was her way of saying it was worth it to vote for Trump. This from a woman who raised us as environmentalists, and as a forward looking progressive. Her worldview obviously changed radically when she remarried & so did the source of her news. I bet she doesn’t even know about children in cages, the assault on the environment or how we’re the laughingstock of the world . . .
Bwahahaha. Those two clowns have ZERO Gravitas. Pocahontas??? What a joke!
If there is extraordinary turnout in Illinois, it’s going to be FOR Trump, not the democrat. Witness today’s speech in Granite City where 800 jobs are now feeding families due entirely to Trump’s steel tariff.
Warren can poke her 50% income tax up her hauntas.
I would be very surprised if he wins Minnesota. Minneapolis and St Paul dominate that state, and both, especially Minneapolis, are Moonbat Central, Minnesota. Unless of course the suburbs get flipped. My assessment of the ‘burbs, especially Edina, Eden Prairie, Lake Minnetonka area, is wannabe Westchester County, NY. At best RINO, never-Trumpers.
