Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have yet to shore up their bases.
Mrs. Clinton is looking to heal the primary wounds of rival Vermont Sen. Bernard Sanders and his progressive supporters, who have threatened to stay home in November. Donald Trump has had a tough time attracting the support of establishment conservatives who worry hes too centrist.
And each needs their bases to coalesce in order to win the presidency.
An analysis completed by The Wall Street Journal suggested since 1992, every candidate who ended up winning the White House had a favorable rating of at least 80 points among their own party. According to the latest WSJ/NBC News poll, Mr. Trump was dead even in his positives and negatives among Republicans and Mrs. Clinton was up among Democrats by 43 percentage points. Meaning, they both have a long way to go before they reach that 80 point threshold, if at all.
But there is something that could help them get there. Their vice presidential pick....

How will Cruz help Trump in foreign affairs or dealing with Congress
The vice president is president of the Senate. Cruz has a very good grasp of foreign affairs.
I still don’t think Trump should pick Sanders. And certainly not Cruz.
I think Cruz is a good Senator if you take away his 10 hiatus he took for his presidential campaign. Trump still has him on his list, and tells his supporters to not call him “lyin Ted” anymore.
*****************
:) We've dodged a bullet once with Cruz. Let's not tempt fate.
What a battle that would be.
:-}
Trump wants an experience politician who can help him get legislation pushed thru Congress and Cruz don’t know nuttin’ about that.
I can see Hillary wanting Cruz as a “national unity ticket” against Trump. I don’t think that Cruz would accept. There maybe things that even the #NeverTrump guys won’t do
Trump/Hunter 2016
No! Absolutely no one from the establishment should be VP.....not even sessions! Trump has been hammering the GOP establishment to the canvas... it would not look good if he picks someone from that bunch!! Has to be an outsider with lots of government knowledge ....pray that God will put someone in his path!
Well said T. We don’t need or want anymore of that lyin’ globalist/illegal loving fraud, Ted Cruz.
Generally the key is which candidate can help win the swing states which ever they come
out to be in 2016. Some list the following seven as swing states: Colorado, Florida,
Nevada, Ohio, Virginia, Iowa and New Hampshire. The first five backed President Bush
and President Obama two each and the last last two voted democratic in three out
of the last four elections.
Other states may be fitted into the category also.
GO TRUMP-CRUZ 2016 !
Bernie....politics as bad as Hillary’s but too honest for her
Cruz...politics better than Trump’s but ineligible
try again
Is Ted Cruz a natural-born citizen eligible to serve as president? [Yes! And I support him! JimRob]

He is not a NBC, his daddy was not a USA citizen at his birth (like The Illegal Infiltrator In Chief’s daddy).... (and Sen. Cruz was born in Canada). Those are two of the key criteria. But I won’t belabor fellow readers with this because it was beaten to death here at least 69 times already during the campaign.
Thanks, bobby.
So 85% of the experts and Jim are wrong? Those experts include the last two solicitors general of the United States.
When you consider how fast and hard Cruz sided with the LaRaza/racist/anti-American judge over a US citizen, you see that we truly did dodge a bullet.
