Trump's Immunity and Why He Will Remain a Contender
The Huffington Post's Entertainment The Blog ^ | August 18, 2015 | Josh Nass, Public relations strategist

By far the biggest story of the summer is Donald Trump's surging candidacy for the U.S. presidency. It's obvious why. Hate him or love him, Donald Trump knows how to captivate the public's attention. He seems immune from being hurt; I want to examine why. What is it about Donald Trump that allows him to survive any occurrence that no conventional political candidate could? And, not only that, but to use these instances to further galvanize his base of supporters, while growing it?

This summer, we have seen example after example of this. People were horrified when he questioned Sen. John McCain's hero status, saying the McCain is only considered a war hero "because he was captured." Trump followed up that statement by saying that he likes "people that weren't captured." There was an outcry, but Trump refused to apologize. Instead, he turned the discussion to the country's need of Veteran Affairs reformation.

Feminists were dismayed when Trump made a comment -- that is repulsive -- about FOX News host Megyn Kelly's menstrual cycle. And yet, his poll numbers after the comment, as well as the recent GOP debate, have given him a vast lead. When he said that immigrant Mexicans are rapists -- his first controversial comment of this run -- his poll numbers jumped. Again, rather than apologize, he used his comments as a jumping-off point to discuss illegal immigration, an issue which the donor class has begged Republican Party leaders to temper their statements, so as not to further alienate the Hispanic community.

The Tea Party was never particularly organized. Its real obstacle, which limited the amount of influence it could wield, was its lack of a leader. Donald Trump has become its de facto leader running not a campaign but, as he says, a movement....

Trump has realized the apology is the error. Take the heat and ride through it and you appear tough and the MSM naggers scamper.

Apologizing is the error.

Trump is completely controlling the agenda for BOTH parties right now.

We need to redefine what the moderate position is. By pushing hard right, Trump is making Ted Cruz middle of the road, which is great.

Lol, some people were horrified, and large numbers of people didn't care or even agreed. And these media people just don't realize, or won't admit that substantial numbers of people dislike and even despise John McCain, for a variety of legitimate reasons.

If Trump apologizes for anything, the media will be all over it. They’ll be saying it was a horrible mistake and will likely end his campaign. They would repeat it over and over until a lot of people believed it.

I never heard such a comment.

I did hear a comment by Rosie O'Donnell that explicitly raised that subject, and noted zero "dismay" among "feminists."

The prog pundits are finally beginning to get it. Took ‘em a couple of months. Kudos because the GOPe Dreamer pundits still aren’t getting it.

Now, they could always just read FR and get the current scoop. But that would mean rubbing elbows with what they perceive to be the Great Unwashed. And that ain’t happening.

We live in times where people have the attention span of a goldfish, you can whip them into a frenzy for about 10 minutes, and sadly for too long folks just cave trying to disarm the 10 minute frenzy instead of saying grow up, you are being offended by nothing and letting it die its own death 10 minutes later when something else distracts them...

By apologizing they keep the thing in the news and capitulate on a point that often isn’t even worth capitulating to once you are dealing with calmer heads.

From John Wayne. “Never apologize, mister, it’s a sign of weakness.”

I think Trump has taken that line to heart.

I think Ted Cruz has to be the happiest candidate other than Trump.

Think about it, what was the biggest knock on Cruz before Trump came along.... He was TOO EXTREME. After several doses of Trump, Cruz is sounding like the voice of reason to a lot more people now than he did before Trump.

I agree. I support Cruz first, but the Uni-party won’t let him have a shot.

I’m hoping Cruz is the VP who can guide Trump how to destroy the existing Washington system (10% per year cuts across the board and ax about 40% of the deadheads working there; replace all the do-nothing RINOs so they retire; simplify the tax system; etc.).

Trump may be done after one term. Cruz as VP could then run for two terms.

Our nation might have a small chance to survive if that happens.

If Dems win again, we’re toast.

It might be too late already.

It is laughable and satisfying to watch the wheels come off of these LibTards, the progressive Left, the MSM, and the RINOs who are desperately trying to find some way...any way...to attack Trumps announced immigration plan.

But they are all going to fail.

It’s because in their tensile world and ivory towers they have lost total, complete tough with the American people.

The American people KNOW that Trump is boisterous. They know he is completely outspoken. They know he says offensive things. But they are supporting him any way.

That’s because he has tapped into the frustration and anger the people are feeling.

Now he has detailed an immigration plan that the common man on the street has been begging for, for years. A policy that finally turns this asinine policy of the last decades on its ear and does what MOST AMERICANS want done. That is:

- Close the border.

- Get the illegals out of here.

- Shut off the ludicrous anchor baby provision that draws them here.

- Make the Worker visa program something that only attracts really good workers that the companies are willing to PAY a high price for, and thus gives Americans a chance to take the other jobs.

Most people I know APPLAUD what Trump has proposed. They know intrinsically that this will be very good for our nation and stop the hemorrhaging of our sovereignty.

They DO NOT CARE that a boisterous, outspoken, in your face Trump is proposing it. They believe he will actually do it! They know that he will not be cowed by the media, the LibTards, or the RINOs...and this is what they want.

But the tensile world and ivory towers cannot conceive of this. They are used to someone backing down when in their fire. Of people supporting their “polls”, their “focus group BS,” etc.

Hehehe...but not this time.

"...when Trump made a repulsive comment about Megyn Kelly's menstrual cycle."

Lies, lies, damned lies!

Trump said no such thing.

Arianna Huffington and her dishonest Huff Post "journalists" should know repulsion when they see it as they deal in it every single day on AOL.

Plus, Arianna is probably just jealous as this aging hag probably hasn't seen a menstrual cycle in 30 years.

” Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth.... “

It becomes tradition, which is equal to truth in some circles.
