The latest North Carolina survey from Public Policy Polling suggests that conservative U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz entering the race is stunting Scott Walker's momentum in North Carolina.
The PPP poll released on April 10 shows Jeb Bush now leads the GOP field in North Carolina with 19 percent to 16 percent for Walker, with Cruz, Mike Huckabee and Marco Rubio each at 11 percent, Ben Carson at 9 percent, Chris Christie at 7 percent, Rand Paul at 6 percent and Rick Perry at 2 percent.
Cruz is up 8 points from his 3 percent standing a month ago, while Walker is down 8 points from 24 percent on that previous poll. Those shifts are not a coincidence, according to PPP, which says its numbers show that Cruz is eating into Walker's support with voters who describe themselves as "very conservative."
A month ago, Walker led Cruz 32 to 7 with these voters, but now the spread is just 19/17.
On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton, who is expected to announce her candidacy this weekend, leads with 53 percent to 13 percent for Joe Biden, 11 percent for Elizabeth Warren, 5 percent for Martin O'Malley, 3 percent for Jim Webb and 2 percent for Bernie Sanders.
General election match ups for president in North Carolina remain close, with Clinton slipping slightly from a month ago.
The Republicans who do the best against Clinton are Huckabee and Walker. She trails both in a hypothetical match up.
Still, the survey shows she's easily the strongest Democratic candidate in the state.
Joe Biden would start out 9 points behind Walker and Elizabeth Warren has a 10 point deficit. Overall the picture in North Carolina continues to suggest a very close presidential race, just like the state had in 2008 and 2012.
Also they did Walker against Biden (ahead by 9) and Fauxuhontas (ahead by 10)... And here is the kicker... Survey was D+7!!!!!, 43-36-22
Maybe very distant, but Walker’s a Mitts guy more than Bush.
At this point polls are no more than throwing darts at a dartboard.

Which is why I would bet real money that he will be the nominee. Sadly. We just have WAY too many running and they will hang around long enough to gift wrap the nomination for Jeb ... who will get annihilated in the General when Dims actually do vote.
The problem is we have zero media in our pocket. Absolutely none.
So you think everybody knows about that and all oppo researchers are geniuses? I beg to differ.
Cruz was at 3% at this point in his senate race.
2ndDV asks a very interesting question: is Scott Walker part of the George WALKER Bush clan, via the Pierces, who is the ancestry/roots.com pro who might be able to look?
no. you’re observation is correct. jeb bush has done or said nothing that anyone would care about. most people wound up loathing 43, who are these people who find another bush attractive.
Answer: Nobody, poll is bogus. GOPe is running false ads for their bob dole redux.
Yeah, when they start calling him a whacko bird, firebrand, dangerous, crazy or even unelectable I’ll know he’s been pushed off the gravy train. He’s their Plan B and anyone with eyes can see it.
How stupid do you have to be to vote for yet another Bush, especially THIS one.
Most Americans are still suffering from Bush fatigue. This smirking moron has no more chance of being president than I do.
And he’s a bloody democrat in virtually ALL his policies.
What would differentiate him from Hitlery or Fauxcahontas? His gender? His ancestry? Certainly not his worldview.
Boehner, King, McConnell, Graham, McCain, etc.
Why would they get involved in a Governor’s race. Good Lord you are reaching. Keep trying. You HONESTLY think Cruz is our 45th President? I do believe that Walker will be our 45th President.
Exactly how the RNC playbook has been used the last 2 Presidential primaries. They have blockers run to split the votes ensuring their pick wins. Thompson played that role in 2008, this time we have Graham and Rubio.
The RNC can nominate another designated loser if we don’t unite behind Ted Cruz.
Bush poles are canards...
Don’t forget Huckleberry and Sweater Vest.
Yup, them too.
Did this poll assume that Dems in NC only vote 1 time or are allowed to vote multiple times.
More votes cast in NC than GA yet NC had 1 less Electoral Vote.
If a conservative is the nominee, the GOP carries NC. If not, who knows.
“The GOP-E have real no problems with Walker.”
Which makes Walker suspect, in my book.
The establishment Republicans know they can push for amnesty with Walker. Not so with Cruz.
