I've been hearing that some groups of people are not welcome at Free Republic anymore, but I didn't believe what I was hearing because that seems like the complete opposite of "Free". I've heard that supporters of Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul, Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, and more are no longer welcome to post at this site.
This site is about uniting people together against the liberal onslaught that is ruining our country and we could use all the help we can get right?
Please correct me so I can correct others who have told me that this is the case. A new slogan is making it's rounds that 'the Free Republic has become anything but.'
“The people in charge of banning the people who post about what type of people get banned have been banned.”
Now THAT is funny...I hope the Kos kids use that one...
Regarding the day care center and the private club: I’ve worked for attorneys so long, that for the most part I don’t accept the first story as true. It might be, but I’d like to have the private club’s side before I make a decision. I keep wondering if the children were misbehaving in some way. That part has been omitted from the story.
Good one!
It’s paraphrased from the “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” credits. :0)
In the trolls head.
I shouldn't have to point out the obvious, but this is a 'Christian' conservative web site. With the emphasis on the 'Christian' part.
I have observed many people leaving FR, but only a few bannings. I am kind of surprised that I haven't been banned : )

Free Republic is a site dedicated to the concerns of traditional grassroots conservative activists. We're here to discuss and advance our conservative causes in a more or less liberal-free environment. We're not here to debate liberals. We do not want our pages filled with their arrogant, obnoxious, repugnant bile. Liberals, usurpers, and other assorted malcontents are considered unwelcome trolls on FR and their accounts and or posts will be summarily dismissed at the convenience of the site administrators.
Free Republic does not advocate or condone racism, violence, rebellion, secession, or an overthrow of the government. Free Republic advocates a return to constitutionally limited government, reserving all government powers not expressly delegated by the constitution to the United States to the States respectively, or the people, emphasizing sovereign state governments, local government, self-government and self-rule, while restricting government powers to only those enumerated in the constitution and maximizing individual rights and liberty as originally envisioned and established by our Founding Fathers and secured and defended by the blood of patriots and statesmen for over two hundred years
To answer your question...morons are not welcome. Leave before the kitties use you as a scratching post.
Welcome to FR.
” Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul, Rudy Giuliani, John McCain,”
I sure hope that you don’t think that you’re not obvious.
Clever... by half.
You can write your anti-FR story without actually having to register and post a thread about it. It’s all the rage. Did Koz, HuffPo or pmsnbc send you here?
Too late. ;-)
I frequent this board, the Ron Paul forums, the huck forums and planetromney and just recently I’ve seen some people complaining. I do not want to cause any trouble here because I think this site can be a great force to spread conservatism.
If anyone thinks I’ve only been to this site since I started posting a few days ago, that would be wrong. I’m a political junkie, and a lot of times I just like to see what other people are saying.
I’m dissappointed that some people are calling for me to be banned though. I mean no one any harm, and simply asked a question that I hope wasn’t true.
Nope. I’m left of center, green, Christian Indie.
I’m still here.
If you had many years of reading Free Republic under your belt (I see you signed up two days ago; I also signed up July 10, but that was in 2002 ... got you beat by seven years) you'd know that people don't get "zotted" for the opinions they hold, but for how they promote those opinions. There are plenty of Romney supporters on this site, many others who like Ron Paul, and if Giuliani and McCain were running for something, no doubt there'd be some FReepers speaking out passionately in their support, as well. But Free Republic is a conservative site, so naturally it draws people who are inclined to reject RINOs and big-government liberal Republicans.
When posters tell outright LIES about their candidates, make demonstrably false claims about their candidate, as I've seen many Romney supporters do repeatedly, even then they rarely get zotted -- they're still here. Personally, I'm glad for that, because it excites great debate and discussion and incidentally teaches lurkers and readers quite a bit about the candidates, because the behavior of a candidate's supporters speaks volumes about the candidate.
What gets posters zotted is when they make ugly, nasty, profanity-filled or grossly inappropriate posts, especially when they turn an abstract debate about political philosophies or cultural issues into a platform for making vicious personal attacks on individuals, and it doesn't matter WHO the attacker supports. And EVEN THEN it takes a lot to get zotted. I remember one poster here, who supported FReeper favorite Fred Thompson, who was so shrill and had such a tendency to turn perfectly civilized threads into flame wars with her ugly, shrill, hysterically mean, personal, and angry posts, that SHE got temporarily zotted (at least I think she did, becuase she was pretty quiet for a long time), and by your definition -- she was anti-McCain, Romney, Giuliani, Huck, AND Paul -- she should have been safe as houses.
So you can either be a sucker enough to fall for what others tell you about Free Republic, in which case you're pretty much a sheep-minded person and wouldn't fit in here anyway, OR you can read and learn and judge for yourself.
I agree... any past posts should be considered before attacking a “new” FReeper. I don’t know of any groups that get “banned”, just individuals...;)
Hit and run. If not a troll, a good imitation. Post something like, “People say....,” or “I’ve heard....” and then sit back to hope an argument has been started.
Not too original and rather obvious.
