The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…

Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

The Road Goes Ever On…

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Well, my internal alarms went off when he started numbering. I got numbered letters from home when I was in college.

Daughter:

1. Hello.

2. Study hard.

3. Here's some money.

4. The Dad.

g'nad and mrsnad! Aren't those chicks the CUTEST!

Now if you have a RIR roo and it mates with one of the barred rock hens, the chicks will be black sex-links! Females solid black, males with a white spot on their head!

Won't work the other way around, though.

Keep me posted! I love seeing your pictures of your chicks and kids! They are always precious!

Anyone else have one of these?

Yes, it is an Academy screener.... Given to members of the Academy for viewing in considerations for nominations and Oscars....

The thing you speak of is known to us!

I didn't intend our chickens to be pets for me either...just for the kids...I figured they might last a few weeks at the worst.

But then they started pirching on me, and running up to me with their troubles and scratching around in the yard with me and then Roy starts bocking at me through the porch screen door...

Now I know they are so dumb...but I love 'em! LOL I feel so foolish!

My last husband really took over as a dad for Myranda. They genuinely loved one another as dad and daughter. When she was 10 for Christmas he built her a go-cart. She was the only elementary age girl in our little farming community. Kind of an overly chubby, non-athletic invitation to ridicule. There were 7 boys of near age to her in our community. You can imagine the hell she had sometimes.

But, Dennis built her that go-cart for racing. He gave it to her for Christmas and as a long time stock car racer himself spent hours for many days and weeks teaching her racing technique. Both circle track and drag racing.

The same Christmas the 2 boys next door got 2 small mini-bikes. 1 boy down the road got a normal purchased go-cart and another got a kid-sized 4-wheeler. Myranda NEVER in all the time we lived there lost a race to any of those boys. This improved her peer stock greatly of course.

Only thing Dennis did was that he provided a governor for learning. He told her that when she mastered 180's, 360's, swerving in a drag race and safely stopping in various conditions he would remove control. LOL It was only there about 2 weeks.

I heard our next door neighbor man out yelling at his boys one day in a degrading manner for letting "that stupid fat girl" out race them. Coupla days later the neighbor approached Dennis and asked him to build his sons a go-cart exactly like Myranda's. So, Dennis did. For a nice price. Including the governor that had been there for Myranda's learning time. LOL. He never did think to tell the neighbor guy about that governor.

Anybody wonder why I haven't been anxious for Myranda's driver's license?

OMG!!!

Nobody in my family who cared was ever organized enough to write me numbered lists like that. Grama would send a note on one sheet of paper wrapped around a check for $200 that was obviously hurriedly written. Said something usually to the effect: Peaches, I want you to spend this on something for you. Don't pay bills with it. Have fun. Love you bunches and bunches, Grama XXXOOO

Thanks for the reply. I guess i'm lucky...I wondered who it was for. This copy came from a district manager of a major natl. retailer...we've watched it four times in the last month.

Best regards,
Liberty

Well, I guess that's one advantage to her being in Germany. She can't get that license yet!

Lucky indeed.... That which you have was pretty valuable contraband in the spring.... Since the only ones to receive them are active voting members within the Motion Picture industry.... Somebody betrayed their own for those copies to have gotten out.

It only takes one for there to be copies all over the internet these days.
