My last husband really took over as a dad for Myranda. They genuinely loved one another as dad and daughter. When she was 10 for Christmas he built her a go-cart. She was the only elementary age girl in our little farming community. Kind of an overly chubby, non-athletic invitation to ridicule. There were 7 boys of near age to her in our community. You can imagine the hell she had sometimes.
But, Dennis built her that go-cart for racing. He gave it to her for Christmas and as a long time stock car racer himself spent hours for many days and weeks teaching her racing technique. Both circle track and drag racing.
The same Christmas the 2 boys next door got 2 small mini-bikes. 1 boy down the road got a normal purchased go-cart and another got a kid-sized 4-wheeler. Myranda NEVER in all the time we lived there lost a race to any of those boys. This improved her peer stock greatly of course.
Only thing Dennis did was that he provided a governor for learning. He told her that when she mastered 180's, 360's, swerving in a drag race and safely stopping in various conditions he would remove control. LOL It was only there about 2 weeks.
I heard our next door neighbor man out yelling at his boys one day in a degrading manner for letting "that stupid fat girl" out race them. Coupla days later the neighbor approached Dennis and asked him to build his sons a go-cart exactly like Myranda's. So, Dennis did. For a nice price. Including the governor that had been there for Myranda's learning time. LOL. He never did think to tell the neighbor guy about that governor.
Anybody wonder why I haven't been anxious for Myranda's driver's license?

Anybody wonder why I haven't been anxious for Myranda's driver's license?Well, I guess that's one advantage to her being in Germany. She can't get that license yet!
