Conservation officers say more than one bear may have been involved in attack on women near their home

Search teams in Canada have discovered the body of a 20-year-old woman and confirmed that both she and her mother were killed in an attack that conservation officers now believe could have involved multiple grizzly bears.
Late on Tuesday, conservation officers in British Columbia said the two women, who were reported missing over the weekend, were located near a trail a short distance from their home.
The discovery has shaken a community where, earlier in the year, a grizzly attacked a group of schoolchildren and their teachers.
“Our thoughts are with the families of the victims during this tragic time,” Inspector Jeff Tyre of the British Columbia Conservation Officer Service said in a video posted online. Tyre later said the conservation service was investigating the possibility that more than one bear was involved in the fatal attack.
“We appreciate people’s concerns and the desire to assist but it is critical the public stay out of the area – both due to the danger and to allow officers to do their work,” he said.
Jenny Balcarras, an art therapist, and her daughter Selah Reed were reported missing by relatives over the weekend. A family member posted on Facebook about them, later updating it after the conservation service announced the suspected attack to indicate that their vehicle had been found at a trailhead near Bella Coola, British Columbia. Balcarras’s remains were found first and Reed was located a day later.

Gotta be a nasty way to go. Prayers to all.
Don’t poke the bear.
Nobody knows what the bear considers to be a “poke”.
People look at grizzlies as cartoon characters.
Grizzly looks at you as FOOD.................
What is an an art therapist?
Can’t defend yourself in Canadistan. Can’t even have bear spray in some areas.
Didn’t work on the bear(s).
When constantly want to go hiking. Bears -never- bother a man sitting at home watching old westerns, throwing hot dogs on the grill, etc....
I’m not trying to be mean here, but... the “girl” looks like “she” could be a boy. I would ask the bear but I don’t think that the bear cared.
I have no idea!..................
“Which is better for bear attacks, a 44 magnum or 10mm Glock....”
.....Said no Canadian female art-therapists EVER.
“Can’t even have bear spray in some areas.”
Makes sense. It just annoys the bears................
Canadians were never known to be too bright, eh?
I thought the same.
RIP…
It is not BambiLand out there…
I make it my policy that I never hike in grizzly country without my M14.
I make it my policy that I never hike in grizzly country.................. 😎
They never found the bear that attacked school children there last year.
Possibly the same one. They could tell if they DNA stabbed the injuries.
I get nervous where I am not top of the food chain.
