SUPPRESSORS AND SBR’S ARE LEGAL

It’s an awesome day in the gun community when I get to come to you with good news, but the latest NFA update about silencers and SBR’s is the best news in a long time.

Major caveat: your state can still mess with you. Still, I’ll take each victory as it comes.

They’ve always been legal.

This is based upon one judges ruling, and that ruling was not challenged in an appeal mainly due to the current director of BATFE being what is most commonly described as a "real gun guy." He really likes guns. He has stated that he thinks BATFE's time is better spent going after real criminals instead of trying to make criminals out of law abiding citizens.

But here's the deal... all it takes to lose these gains is a change in administrations. An anti-gun administration appoints an anti-gun director and we're right back where we started. The only way to make this last is for Congress to amend the NFA of 1934 to exclude short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, and suppressors, leaving on full-automatic firearms and destructive devices under its regulation. Or better yet: repeal the NFA of 1934 altogether.

What we have gained is wonderful news, but make no mistake... it is in no way permanent at this point.

It is good news. My wife recently purchased another .22 cal suppressor good for 5.7x28. We did the Form 4 route because the ruling was still unclear on a 4473 only. I want a .30 cal suppressor for my Form 1 SBR in 300BLK. It's a 10.5" barrel build. Enough to burn all the powder. A suppressor added to 10.5" barrel leaves a manageable overall length. It will work fine on the full length 300BLK rifles too. That pretty much puts the ribbons on my wishlist.

I once saw a documentary about penguins. When they wanted to go swimming, the all started edging closer to the water but none of them wanted to be first to go in in case there were killer whales or sea lions lurking in the water.

And finally one poor SOB got a little to close to the edge and the others pushed him in. And they all stood back and watched and waited dispassionately to see if he got et.

NFA dealers have “skin in the game.” Serious skin. They would love to start selling suppressors like they were cleaning kits but don’t look for it right away. Instead, expect them to wait and watch to see if the first guys into the water get et.

A better option is to remove the NFA and GCA entirely, along with the F in BATFE. Our employees (the government) have proven they can’t be trusted with such authority.

Go to a different state to buy one. There’s nothing stopping me from selling you mine.

I didn’t watch the video but Brandon is not only a “gun YouTuber” but is also a highly licenced (read: he has a LOT of knowledge on the topic because he himself is a gun builder who would have major consequences for getting it wrong) gun manufacturer.

But I need to point out many, many things to everyone here.

The ATF wrote a letter. Stop there. Letters are not laws. They aren’t case studies, they aren’t rulings. It’s a letter.

In the letter it only says that the ATF will not be enforcing most NFA items.

The letter starts off mentioning NFA dealers and NFA transfers, then goes on to say “all Americans”. In the reading of law the first group is priority. The second is there, but when reading legalese (which is pay off my job although I’m not a lawyer) (I’m a legal and medical data analyst) it is important to know how to read the words in front of you.

Full auto is still being enforced. This means the enforcement apparatus is still in place.

Proceed with caution! I don’t want to think that Trump’s appointed bureaucrat is that guy, but for over 100 years this department has been actively trying to disarm you and put you in jail not by providing proper law and jurisprudence, but by tricking you into making a mistake that can put you behind bars and ruin your life.

Trump himself and many people in the White House were once Democrats, but don’t go thinking for a moment that we should trust Democrats because they may be “learning their lesson and starting to think rationally”.

The ATF must be eliminated and all of their records destroyed. I don’t trust it.

That said, I’m putting a can on everything and finally putting the appropriate furniture in my AR platforms. And yes a can on everything. Ever since using my first suppressor I’ve decided everything needs it

So did colion noir.

I do like the guy. I’ll never trust the organization. That letter is from the organization.

I don’t trust this at all. Just like the celebrity retards “switching parties” or coming to Christ. I didn’t believe them for a second.

I like Colion Noir too. He’s a lot less potty-mouthed.

Firing a SBR AR without a suppressor can cause hearing problems even with hearing protection. So dang loud.

I asked Palmetto Arms if I could buy an AR full auto trigger group and keep it unopened in the box on the shelf in case the SHTF. They said that was illegal. I don’t get it but that is what they told me.
