True Food Kitchen, the health-focused restaurant chain backed by Oprah Winfrey, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after closing a dozen restaurants across the United States. The company, which promotes healthy eating and was once seen as a fast-growing player in the restaurant industry, now has 34 locations open in 14 states as it searches for a buyer.
True Food Kitchen faced management changes and struggled with an ambitious expansion plan that did not succeed. The chain was founded in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2008 by restaurateur Sam Fox and wellness doctor Andrew Weil, and attracted attention for its menu centered on vegetables, fruits, and whole grains.
Oprah Winfrey became an investor and board member in the company, expressing her support for its mission. Winfrey's investment was intended to help double the company's growth, and she joined the board alongside health expert Andrew Weil. However, recent financial troubles have overshadowed earlier optimism.
The company’s bankruptcy filing leaves its future uncertain, with ongoing efforts to find a buyer and keep the remaining restaurants operating.
"True Food Kitchen is a pioneering brand with a distinctive position in wellness-driven dining, a loyal community of guests, and a mission that is more relevant than ever," said Jeff Chandler, Chief Executive Officer of True Food Kitchen. "This process is the best path forward to simplify the business and focus on what we do best: delivering craveable, health-forward food and genuine hospitality. We are confident this step will help us build a stronger True Food Kitchen for the future."

“ambitious expansion plan”
That’s what elastic pants are for, Miss Oprah.
“That’s what elastic pants are for, Miss Oprah.”
👍
Normal folks don't want to go out to eat healthy food, they want to go out to eat food that tastes good.
A flawed business plan from the start.
"That's right! You get a closure, you get a closure, you get a closure, you over there gets a closure..."
I'd bet Oprah eats as much greasy fried food as anyone else of her weight and complexion.
That dam Oprah raided Weight Watchers. She negotiated a yughe
deal with the Fat-Shot pharmaceutials and then bankrupted WW.
She walked away, this time skinny and rich, rather than fat and rich. It seems her intent to raid and ruin every company that she purchases. Maybe she could purchase planned parenthood or antifa.
Casa Griffin

So much for new cars. A pink slip for you, and for you, and for you....everybody gets a pink slip!!!
Ugh....
“A pink slip for you, and for you, and for you....everybody gets a pink slip!!!”
Ha ha. Well done!
“A flawed business plan from the start.”
Agreed. Those seeking healthy food rather than tasty food have to be in the distinct minority.
From the menu: “SPICY PANANG CURRY gf
regenerative black rice, sweet potato, bok choy,
rainbow carrots, snap peas, charred onion,
thai shellfish curry broth”
Ugh.
After one glance of the menu, I would be back in my vehicle in no time without even sampling the water.
Sorry to see this reversal of fortune for you. :(
You know, when you try to convince The General Public that they need something they DON’T really need, it’s always a cr@p shoot.
Did they consider location? I mean, BLUE areas would LOVE this kind of Virtue Signalling, (I eat dry bread and tofu - I’m BETTER than you!) but they don’t part with their money other than to hire thugs for fake race rallies and/or buy yarn for pink p8ssy hats. *SMIRK*
A: Oprah in a hot tub.
