People are not getting amped up on caffeine like they used to pre-Covid. Plus Starbucks libs are closing down stores that are in marginal locations...Too ghetto for their bottom line.

Interesting. Coffee is very profitable for retailers. Lots of coffee establishments have opened up with very good coffee. Competition is great.
Are the closings a response to some stores wanting to bring in unions?
I don’t drink their overpriced swill.
Just relocate them all to ghettoes and pass out free entitlement coffees. That’ll take care of your financial woes.

Our Midwest town of 17,000 now has SIX coffee shops... 2 Starbucks, 1 Scooters, and 3 locally owned. It’s as if making coffee at home has become a lost art!

Starbucks decided to expand. In the process they changed what had been a pretty successful model. Cafes designed to have people come in, sit down, relax, maybe do some work and chat with regulars.
Now they have drive through only and stores in such relaxing places as the Kroger.
People have not lost their appetite for way overpriced coffee the,7 Brothers out let in this one horse town seems to always have a line even though something like 40% are at tbe poverty level.

I have over 30 coffee shops near me that are not Starbucks.
Woke policies and non woke competitors will kill off Starbucks.

If a given Starbucks store isn't making money, we can hold our breath for a short while, but we can't support it as a charity past a certain point.

I wonder if these closures plus the one last year will reduce the enrollment in woymen’s studies, sociology, etc. at colleges and universities across the USA.

MacDonald’s coffee ☕ is much better than Starbucks. Starbucks taste like dirty dish water.
| No big deal -- about 1% of stores closing. That's simply a big business tweaking its operations. Here in Japan, Starbucks is super popular and rents a prime location at the central rail terminal which effectively operates as a shopping mall. But 2 miles east of the terminal is where I live, and there's a neighborhood Starbucks. It features free parking, free WiFi, and fabulous beverages, but the location is a bit crowded. Maybe the young urbanites appreciate working in a crowd, but not this Septuagenarian. For my taste there a Beatles-themed Penny Lane Bakery and cafe only a 5-minute walk away. There, I can usually find a table in a corner where I run your laptop and listen to my Japanese language audios. No free WiFi unfortunately, but the Cafe au Lait Espressos are great. |
